Lunar Girl and Scarlet Sparrow is a Superhero Comic Book by Julianna Notten, creator of Erin's Guide to Kissing Girls, which the comic was made to help promote.

The comic follows the lives of the titular duo, in their civilian identities of Maya (Lunar Girl) and Niva (Scarlet Sparrow) living together in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. With the death of their Arch-Nemesis, Shadow Man, peace has finally come to the city. The heroines can now focus on their lives together, which should be a good thing.

Only...

Niva may be fine moving on, but Maya finds herself wallowing in boredom with no villains to fight against or plans to thwart. It's gotten to the point where she's mistaken someone who forgot his credit card for a mugger. And now it's causing a wedge to come between her and Niva.

Lunar Girl needs something, anything, to give her some purpose. Well, someone has been hanging around the grave of one Angelo Ombra.

The comic was published in 2022.

Lunar Girl and Scarlet Sparrow contains examples of:

  • Back from the Dead: Angelo Ombra's brother manages to resurrect him as an Intelligent Zombie right when Lunar Girl shows up at his grave.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Lunar Girl lets one out when she hears a cat stuck in a tree, goes down to rescue it... and sees that a fire fighter already did it.
  • Cats Are Mean: After a fire fighter gets a girl's cat down from a tree, the cat hisses and starts scratching up the girl's face.
  • Creepy Cemetery: The Toronto Necropolis, where Angelo Ombra's remains have been interned. Whenever it's seen, the sky is always pitch black, and it's always raining.
  • The Face of the Sun: In one panel, when Lunar Girl states that danger could strike at any moment, she gestures with her arms toward a peaceful day of people in the park, overlooked by a smiling sun wearing sunglasses.
  • In the Hood: The man in front of Angelo Ombra's grave wears a hooded cape. What purpose it serves isn't apparent, but it makes him look menacing.
  • Monochromatic Eyes: When Lunar Girl and Scarlet Sparrow spring into action in response to a distress call, a young girl, a fire fighter, and a cat stare in awe. The cat's eyes are shown to be solid white in this.
  • Name and Name: Lunar Girl and Scarlet Sparrow, obviously.
  • Not What It Looks Like: At one point, Lunar Girl and Scarlet Sparrow spot a guy running away from someone calling out to him. Lunar Girl tackled the running guy on the ground he stole from the person calling to him. Only, it turned out he was calling because the guy left his credit card behind, the the other guy was trying to return it to him.
