"Wakanda is at war''

The King of Wakanda.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: He is married to Okoye here. Though given a certain prophecy, this may yet change.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Despite ascending to the throne of Wakanda after his father's abdication, T'Challa grapples with numerous challenges and still seeks counsel from him. He admits feeling overshadowed by his father's wisdom, expressing that becoming king and inheriting the throne hasn't changed this dynamic. In Issue #1, he reluctantly seeks help from the Vodu-Kahn, despite his reservations about their methods, and tries to maintain neutrality even as Ra and Khonshu kill innocent people and extend their control.
  • Cool Helmet: The Black Panther mask, although unlike the 616 version, this one has an open mouth.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His Black Panther suit, by all accounts, looks threatening with sharp claws and white armored accents, but he's a good person and leader who cares for Wakanda's people.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Though he it pains him to do so, he begins severely cracking down on his people's freedoms in the month after his father is killed in a terrorist attack in an effort to weed out traitors within them.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: T'Challa begins Ultimate Black Panther reluctant to take action against Ra and Khonshu, not wanting to risk his people’s safety. After the attempt on his life and death of his father, he declares Wakanda is now at war.
  • Sleeping Single: Despite being married to Okoye, he sleeps in a separate bed from her.
