The ruling empire in the Tower. At the top of the Ruling Class are Zahard and the 10 Great Warriors, who conquered the Tower and gained control of the [[spoiler: first 134]] Floors from the Guardians. Since they are not native to the Tower, Zahard and the 10 Great Warriors are are technically Irregulars, but are rarely referred to as such. Zahard went on to establish the Zahard Family, who are considered royalty, and the 10 Great Warriors founded the 10 Great Families, who are akin to aristocracy in the Tower; all of their descendants benefit from the contracts they've secured with the Floor Guardians. All of them are High Rankers, and though generally inactive, they are central to the main story.

!Rulers

!!!Tropes related to the entire Zahard Faction

* TheAgeless: Climbing The Tower gave them eternal youth, with the exception of Hendo.
* CompleteImmortality: With the exception of Hendo Lok Bloodmadder, who struck a special deal, all of them have been granted immortality by the 100th Floor Guardian.
* TheDreaded: Considering they are the strongest inhabitants of the Tower, they are widely feared.
* DrunkWithPower: Most of them didn't start out as the jerks they are now. The data version of Koon Eduan notes that the stronger they grew, the less and less they cared about other people. Po dismisses regular people as irrelevant bugs. Zahard took it to the extreme, betraying and tyrannizing everyone to gratify his own ego. The only exception was V, who grew closer to other people instead.
* TheGhost: The majority of the Family Heads are residing in their residences and are not active in the public; SIU has noted it is a very, very rare occurrence for one of them to speak directly to their family members.
* ImmuneToFate: Mortal {{Seer}}s are unable to predict their future. They are still subject to any destiny set by {{God}}, but King Zahard is starting to become powerful enough to resist even that.
* LargeAndInCharge: Zahard and his Ten Warriors are all said to be very large and bulky; this is best seen when the real Zahard appears in the Hidden Floor, towering over his younger self and Baam.
* MightMakesRight: Although the Tower has never been a happy, pain-free place of easy choices and quick rewards, there are more than a few elephant-sized hints that the really sucky dog-eat-dog, power-based pyramid scam of a society we come to know through Baam and company is entirely down to them and their choices, rather than being intrinsic to the structure. Considering they made the system...
* NighInvulnerable: Per their contracts with the Floor Guardians, none of them can be harmed by inhabitants of the Tower.[[note]]This actually only applies to Zahard. A better term to describe the 10 Great Warriors would be that they're (considered) "invincible" rather than 'invulnerable'.[[/note]] [[spoiler: Irregulars, not being natives of the Tower, are exempt from the contract and are able to kill Zahard.]]
* Really700YearsOld: Probably among ''the'' oldest in the Tower.
* RetiredBadass: None of them are active in the public. They don't even appear to leave their homes anymore as they have no reason to.
* TheRunaway: One of the stories about how they got into the Tower paints them as defeated remnants of a war desperately fleeing the consequences of their defeat. Who somehow worked out how to disappear by going inside a place none could easily follow.

[[quoteright:297:[[labelnote:CLICK to see his Young Hidden Floor Data Appearance]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/togzaharddata.jpg]][[/labelnote]]

->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

Rank: 3

Zahard is the famed "King of the Tower" and the most famous and greatest being within, akin to a god to the Tower's inhabitants. Long ago, he entered the Tower with his Ten Great Warriors and built the Zahard Empire, gaining control of the 134 Floors from the Guardians. He is the first to form a contract with a Guardian, and became King through these contracts. This conquest is known as "The Great Journey". He is lord of the Zahard family, whose [[Characters/TowerOfGodZahardsPrincesses Princesses]] are powerful females endowed with his blood and are among "the most powerful kind" in the Tower. It must be noted, however, that none of them are related to him by blood, as Zahard has no spouse or heir[[note]]however, more and more people await the birth of his "only son"[[/note]].

Zahard is currently resting, leaving the affairs of ruling to the Three Lords and his daughters, although it is believed that when Zahard is on the move again, the 135th Floor with be conquered.

His death is the longed for wish of the famed criminal syndicate FUG, however none of the Tower can harm him.

His younger self was the ruler of the Hidden Floor, entrusted with a bracelet that was the key to defeating him. At the climax of the arc, before the floor is deleted, Zahard attempts to retrieve it, but it is stolen by Gustang's invisible manta ray given to Rachel. Perhaps as a consequence of seeing evidence Gustang is plotting against him, Zahard issues an order to kill the entire Po Bidau family.
----

* AmbitionIsEvil: His destiny was to become a king that stands above all others, which translated in the modern day to being a cruel and ruthless tyrant.
* ArchnemesisDad:
** He is implied to have in some way fathered Ja Wangnan and Karaka, both of whom want him dead.
** A few of his adopted daughters among the Princesses of Zahard are not fond of him either.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Oh hell yes. Even prior to entering the Tower, he was challenged by [[MasterSwordsman Arie Hon]], the strongest of his companions ten times. He won every single time, which is why Hon follows him. He was firmly #1 in the Rankings, and it was only after an Irregular killed a [[PhysicalGod Floor Guardian]] and his own inactivity that has put him in third. Even still, a mere fragment of his power is still capable of freezing the data versions of his younger self, the ruler of the Hidden Floor, and Koon Eduan, as well as rendering Baam completely immobile.
* BloodKnight: Eduan mentions that he enjoys opponents who face him fearlessly. While he's unenthusiastic at first, once he gets motivated he starts to become uncontrollably powerful. Likewise, he calls his fight with Data Maschenny the most fun he's had in ages, and is holding Baam to a higher standard precisely because she fought so well. When Baam fights Data!Zahard to a standstill, he gives Baam his bracelet so that he'll someday give the real one a decent challenge.
* BloodMagic: The process to make a Princess of Zahard involves his blood, and the rings Karaka and Wangnan has are both suggested by SIU to be made of clotted blood.
* BigBad: He is the main reason the Tower is a CrapsackWorld, and many people believe {{God}} chose [[TheChosenOne Baam]] to kill him.
* BoldExplorer: Before he became obsessed with being a tyrannical king, he enjoyed exploring and identified as an adventurer.
* DeepSleep: Said to be "hibernating"; but how long he has been sleeping is unsure, as it is rumored he interfered in the Enne Zahard incident.
* ChekhovsSkill: A LoopholeAbuse. He essentially can use the Flare Wave Explosion (a melee killing technique) at long range by vibrating the shinsoo in the air instead of in the victim's body.
* DeerInTheHeadlights: Not himself, but he appears to be able to cause this to any Princess of Zahard, causing Maschenny and Androssi to freeze and become unresponsive when they see him.
* EvilAllAlong: It is becoming increasingly apparent as the story progresses that [[spoiler:FUG might not be entirely in the wrong in their desire to kill Zahard. Zahard, the King of the Tower and created the system by which Regulars can climb the Tower to obtain their greatest desire, does not appear be the Good Guy as we were originally led to believe and actually is the cause of a lot of the death and conflict in the upper echelons of the Rankers.]]
* FallenHero: Maybe. The data version of Yu Han Sung mentions that the Zahard on the outside has turned his back on loyalty and justice, and Eduan, one of his companions, thinks the data Zahard is fake because of how out of character he is acting. The reason Zahard wanted power was to make the Tower a place where everyone can be happy. On his "becoming a king", he also states that it is his destiny, whether he likes it or not. All of this implies that originally, Zahard was someone who genuinely could be called a hero, a worthy chosen of the Tower, but something happened to him that changed his personality.
* FangsAreEvil: One of his characteristics.
* FightingAShadow: Baam's first meeting with the real him is with a small fragment of his power, and he promptly gets nearly killed as Zahard immediately attempts to break his neck. He very nearly succeeded too, if the Thorn had not tried to forcibly take Baam away.
* FutureMeScaresMe: Data Zahard is both awestruck by his current self's prestige and power, deeply concerned about the anxiety he can feel from him, and confused on why his true self isn't quite going along with the new challenge Baam represents like his old self would. As the [[spoiler:data world is destroyed]], he privately asks why the other family leaders and himself changed to become the way they are now.
* GameFace: He asks Baam if he sees a human or a monster, briefly shifting into something that causes Baam to automatically attack him while screaming. He has not shown this form to anyone else so far.
* GodEmperor: He is a PhysicalGod, holds absolute power over the Tower, and is often a subject of worship by the Tower's government.
* GreaterScopeVillain: A prophecy suggests Baam is meant to slay him, but Zahard has yet to get personally get involved in the plot. Nevertheless, most of the misery and conflict in the tower can be attributed to his actions. He finally starts to become active after the events of the Hidden Floor.
* GracefulLoser: After his data self loses an arm to Baam and both briefly succeed in a DoubleKnockout, he admits his loss and hands over what Baam has been looking for with little fuss.
* HiddenDepths: While initially coming off as cool-headed, coldly authoritative and distant, even uncaring to his former companions, Zahard in his youth was an [[BoldExplorer "adventure freak"]] as well as a BloodKnight. There are also hints that he does not like his fate to be king of the Tower, but [[YouCantFightFate accepted it anyway]].
* InterspeciesAdoption: Zahard's Princesses aren't related to him; they're all adoptive daughters. So far we know of multiple humans, a horned humanoid and a lizard-girl, though we have no context for what species Zahard is.
* TheMagnificent: King of the Tower, for obvious reasons.
* NamedWeapons: Wields Lecalicus (most likely intended to be Regalecus), the "Needle of War" that he only draws for worthy opponents. It has three stages; Lecalicus that summons a Shinheuh when he swings it that takes the form of a SinisterScimitar, and Coelacanth, a thin, ornate Needle that resembles a RoyalRapier that can emit shockwaves when he thrusts it, negating the weakness of Needles in that they can only be thrust. The third form is called Leviathan, however the capacities are still unknown (although it was powerful enough to counter one of Baam's strongest moves and knock him out.
* PhysicalGod: The real Zahard is a nearly perfect being that flows with divine power, is near immortal, and is the subject of worship throughout the Tower. He is even starting to approach the point where he can control fate, much like God itself.
* RedEyesTakeWarning / SupernaturalGoldEyes: Beneath his mask, his eyes are an ominous red mixed with gold. Initially it seemed his eyes were red, however SIU changed it slightly to be gold, turning redder when he becomes "serious".
* ShroudedInMyth: Sleeping for ages ''does'' mean most people know nothing about you beyond tales.
* ScrewDestiny: Once upon a time, he believed that if he was destined to do something, he had to go through with it. But now, as he becomes more and more like God, while he isn't completely opposed to his fate to fight Baam, he is also taking measures to have Baam killed before it can happen.
* {{Seers}}: He has the ability to observe fate from almost the same height as {{God}}.
* SlasherSmile: When Zahard gets excited about an opponent, he shows his teeth.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Zahard or Jahad? The official LINE translation goes with the latter, but the fanbase is more attached to the former.
* ThirdEye: His crest is the Red Three Eyes, which he also wears as a mask. However, Zahard himself does not have a third eye.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: According to the "God" of guardians, Zahard originally became king in order to make the Tower a place where everyone can be happy. Needless to say, this didn't work out, which is why the guardian warns [[NotSoDifferent Baam]] when the latter asks to become a god.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Well, "sweet" is perhaps overstating things, but young Zahard shows nothing even remotely close to the tyranny and evil he displays in the current day and age. He was more focused on adventure and fighting than anything else. SIU noted that if it weren't for their destiny, Zahard in his youth and Baam would have gotten along extremely well, comparing the relationship to Wangnan and his changing of Baam when he was still acting as Viole.
* VillainRespect:
** The data version of him shows it towards Koon Maschenny Zahard's fighting spirit.
** The data version of him also shows it to Baam when Baam fights him to a stalemate. Their fight comes to remind him of how much he enjoyed adventuring, and he gives Baam a key to help him defeat the real Zahard in the hope that Baam can give the real him the thrill of adventure as well.
* VirtueIsWeakness: He sees being a King as being an existence that stands above and separate from others, and sees being a monster as the requirement to do so. He erased both his enemies and his closest friends, and claims to have forgotten Arlen Grace for this reason.
* WindsOfDestinyChange: He informs his Data self that he now sees cause and effect from the same height as God, and is starting to become powerful enough to control fate.
* {{Yandere}}: He had a crush on Arlen Grace, but she chose a man called V instead and opposed Zahard's rule. Baam merely mentioning her name to his data self causes him to clam up briefly, before demanding to know who Baam is and threatening to kill him. [[spoiler: Zahard had her child killed in front of her after she and V betrayed him and founded FUG. In the current era, Zahard seems to have calmed down tremendously, remarking that "Fate is really toying with us" when he meets Baam, but remarks that he didn't think he would get another chance of killing him. That said, he seems to attempt to comfort Baam, [[DissonantSerenity calmly asking Baam to rest in peace as he will send all his friends and everyone he ever met to him once he's killed them personally]]. He still appears to carry a torch for Arlene, however, calling her "the woman I loved more than anyone".]]
* YouCantFightFate: Something he once believed in, whether he wanted to obey his Fate or not. However, he is starting to become powerful enough to control it himself.

!! The 10 Great Warriors

[[folder:Arie Hon]]

!!'''Arie Hon'''

[[quoteright:198:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arie_hon.png]]
[[caption-width-right:198:White Sword]]
->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

Rank: 5

One of the warriors who accompanied Zahard during his conquest of the Tower, and founder of the noble Arie Family, the strongest family in the Tower. Not counting Zahard and the top Irregulars, he is the strongest High Ranker in the Tower and seen as the strongest of Zahard's Ten Great Warriors. His sobriquet White Sword refers to the White Oar, his sword that doesn't get hindered by dense Shinsoo.

Hon is known to give special tests to Regulars who reach his floor, the 100th; only two known people have succeeded in passing one. Urek Mazino, whose task was to endure his attacks for 10 minutes although Urek went above and beyond by fighting Hon evenly, and his daughter, Arie Hagipherione Zahard who wields the Red October. Since fighting Urek, he has not fought a battle.

Perhaps ironically, he indirectly assisted in the founding of Wolhaiksong. Urek's reward for matching him in battle was the control of one of the Floors he owned, and Urek later used the floor as the group's headquarters.
----

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Urek Mazino. Despite being the strongest High Ranker, Urek, then a Regular, was capable of fighting evenly with him for ten minutes and was the first person to ever pass his test. However, Hon does not appear to mind being surpassed, having gracefully admitted after the fight that Urek is much better than him.
* ArchnemesisDad: Deliberately became this to Hoaqin and his siblings. Hon, for his part, did not even know Hoaqin's name during their meeting and delivered a speech that served as his StartOfDarkness.
* TheCorrupter: He is the one who told Hoaqin to become the monster he is today, encouraging him to give in to his murderous urges "until everything seems pointless one day".
* TheMagnificent: White Sword/Oar, after his weapon.
* MasterSwordsman: He's the leader of a family renowned for their swordsmanship; Hoaqin remarks that Hon was the most brilliant sword he had ever seen, and Gustang is of the opinion that he cannot be matched or reached by anyone.
* NamedWeapons: Owns the White Oar, the only sword forged by [[UltimateBlacksmith Macseth]] and the only weapon in the Tower with the rank of [[ReadingsAreOfftheScale S+]]. Warriors in the Tower say that the sword is "like an oarfish", a legendary White Steel Eel.
* RetiredBadass: While to a degree this applies to all the Family Heads who are not active in the public, Hon has not fought anyone after he fought Urek.

[[folder:Khun Eduan]]

!!'''Khun Eduan'''

[[quoteright:260:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/koon_eduan_01k.png]]
[[caption-width-right:260:Young Data Appearance]]
->'''Tower Position:''' Spear Bearer, Jeonsula

Rank: 6

Head of the Khun Family, one of the 10 Great Families, and also the father of numerous children from the Koon Family, such as Koon Aguero Agnis. His family is known to be one of the greatest in the Tower, acknowledged to be one of the few equals to the great Arie family. Before Enryu appeared, he was the strongest Spear Bearer in the Tower.

Eduan also has a younger data version of himself within the Hidden Floor that is working against the data of Zahard.
----

* AbusiveParents: His current self cares so little for his children that out of the 10 Great Families, he was the only one that completely didn't care when Zahard's enemies managed to slaughter a bunch of Great Family members.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Despite being friendly with Arie Hon, he resents him a little for being ranked higher. He also wants to fight Urek Mazino for pushing him out of the top five Rankers.
* AnIcePerson: Curiously, he is an ice user despite being most famed for his electricity. Eduan notes that ice is an extremely rare ability, and possibly makes one suited for the role of Spear Bearer.
* ArchnemesisDad: To Aguero Agnis, who seeks to take his position as family head.
* BattleAura: Gains one made of electricity when ready for a fight.
* BloodKnight: Known for taking delight in fighting.
* TheCasanova: He's famous for his lewdness and possesses the most wives of any of the 10 Family Heads.
* EveryoneHasStandards: His data version is disappointed in Zahard for becoming an arrogant king, to the point of calling him a fake.
* FutureMeScaresMe: Unlike the current him, the data version reflecting his younger self actually seems to have some paternal love for his children. Koon Aguero Agnis tells the data version that if he could see his current self, he would want to run away.
* GlowingEyes: Unlike the rest of his family, his eyes seem to glow and emits blue electricity.
* JerkAss: See LetsYouAndHimFight below. This may apply only to his current self, however; Aguero Agnis notes that if his data version could see his current self, [[FutureMeScaresMe he'd want to run away]]. It possibly runs in the family, as SIU has noted that the Koon family trait is that they are "douchebags".
* LetsYouAndHimFight: He makes his "children" fight each other in "inhumane and bloody" fights to stay in the family, and is apparently uninterested in the results. He has also offered anyone who challenges him and wins "everything from the family".
* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: Mago. It is a compression-spear that, when expanded, is said to be able to "pierce half the Tower".
* TheMagnificent: Marlin, after his spear and Blue Thunderclap for his attribute of electricity (he was originally considered for Electric Eel as a sobriquet, but Eduan took offense to that). Boro also calls him "the God of Spears".
* PowerTattoo: Has one on his right arm. It glows when he uses shinsu.
* ShockAndAwe: Has the ability to use turn shinsu into electricity.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Grapes, and anything made with them. He particularly enjoys wine, but he (or at least his younger data self) is not above drinking cheap grape soda either.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Much like his children, Eduan has silvery-blue hair.

[[caption-width-right:297:Aloof Wave]]
->'''Tower Position:''' Wave Controller

Rank: 14

Head of the Po Bidau Family and the first living being to systematically record Shinsoo. Po Bidau Gustang is the Tower’s most famous Wave Controller and writer. Excluding the eccentrics within The Workshop, he probably knows the most about The Tower. He was also the lover of Eurasia Blossom for a brief period, and is the father of the famous Princess Eurasia Enne Zahard.

Gustang is the founder of the Research Association, and all males of the family are required to become a member. If they do not succeed, they are kicked out of the family. However, because it is a very powerful and exclusive group, his family enjoys great reputation and power, on par with the Koon family.

He is rumored to know a way out of the Tower.

While he was loyal to Zahard for some time, the modern era has seen him quietly working against him, eventually resulting in Zahard declaring war on his family.
----

* AnonymousBenefactor: [[spoiler: Aids Viole and the gang during the Workshop Battle for unknown reasons, allowing them to keep Viole and the Thorn as well as officially winning the Workshop Battle much to the chagrin of the organizers, and not even the Rankers helping them knew he was there.]]
* TheCasanova: After splitting with Blossom, it is noted that he became something of a ladies man.
* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler:His exact motivations are unknown, but some suspect he is betraying the 10 families. He made the floor of death the way it is now and has been subtly manipulating events, seemingly to aid Viole.]]
* CondescendingCompassion: Displays it towards [[spoiler:Hoaqin over the fact that he got cursed as a side effect of stealing souls, calling him a poor bug]].
* DefectorFromDecadence: He originally sided with the rest of the 10 Great Families, but at some point, for reasons implied to involve what Zahard did to his favorite daughter, started working against Zahard.
* DrivenByEnvy: Was very interested in Eurasia Blossom because she was able to control Shinsoo naturally, and was extremely envious of her talent.
--> ''Gustang'': Blossom is one of the greatest Wave Controllers, but she cannot teach you anything. This is because she herself does not know how she controls Shinsoo.
* BadassInANiceSuit: One of the best-dressed character in the series.
* InsufferableGenius: He is a close friend of the Gong Bang, exchanges stories with Macseth, pioneered the research of shinsoo, and founded of the Research Association. He also looks down on everyone who isn't a Ranker and casts out any member of his family who does not succeed in becoming a member of the Research Association. However, he has made an exception for Baam, saying that he may be capable of standing with the 10 Family Heads and Urek. See CondescendingCompassion.
* TheMagnificent: Known as the "Aloof Wave", perhaps owing to his quiet, reserved appearance. If this refers to his personality, he can be somewhat meddlesome when he wants to.
* ManInWhite: And natty he is, too.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: The Workshop organizer, Madoraco, even comments it's hard not to notice who he is based on the expensive cigarettes he smokes.
* {{Megane}}: Wears them to better read the flow of Shinsoo.
* PitifulWorms: Considers most people to be nothing but bugs.
* TheProfessor: Is in charge of researching everything there is to know about the Tower.
* SmugSuper: He is completely dismissive of lesser beings, referring to them as bugs and considering them utterly irrelevant to the scheme of things.
* WhiteMage: Refers to himself as an expert of science and medicine, and functioned as a supportive Wave Controller contrasting his one time lover Blossom, an offensive Wave Controller.

However, Hendo Lok Bloodmadder was the only one excluded from this gift. The reasons behind this exclusion are still a mystery.

!!'''Grace Arlen'''

[[quoteright:297:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gracearlentog.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

An Irregular that climbed the Tower alongside Zahard and the 10 Great Family leaders, and said to be the cause of all the problems that plague the Tower in the current day. The reason being because Zahard had fallen in love with Arlen, but couldn't have her, because her heart was already set on another of their companions, V.

After Zahard became the new Tower King, Arlen revolted alongside V against Zahard and the 10 Great Family leaders so that they could one day continue climbing the Tower after Zahard locked the door to the 135th Floor. However, the two of them lost the war, and were forced to go on the run as fugitives. Zahard would hunt them down to the point of killing Arlen and V's newborn child, which resulted in V committing suicide to allow Arlen to return to Zahard's side, and live a better life. However, Arlen chose not to do so, and became a wanderer of the Tower to try to find a way to bring her dead baby back to life. Eventually, Arlen claimed to have found a means of escaping the Tower desiring to see the free starry sky outside the Tower, and begged to the God outside the Tower to bring her child back to life one day. Her dead child possibly being [[spoiler:Baam]].

In the present, Arlen and V's existence have been erased to make it seem like it was only Zahard and the 10 Great Family leaders that originally climbed the Tower. However, Arlen hid away her Pocket detailing her erased story, which was found by Princess Enne Zahard. In addition, [[spoiler:Rachel]] is shown to have some sort of connection to Arlen as well, and is determined to be the one who makes Arlen's wish of going outside the Tower come true.
----

* ChekhovsGun: Arlen's existence was foreshadowed due to the 28th Floor's Hand of Arlen structure that was the setting of the "Devil of the Right Arm" StoryArc.
* CompleteImmortality: Arlen is unable to die since she's part of the immortality contract that Zahard made with the Tower Guardians.
* {{Determinator}}: She was determined to bring her baby back to life to the point of placing a spell on her baby's corpse so that it never rotted away.
* DrivenToMadness: The loss of her baby took a toll on Arlen's sanity, which led to V committing suicide.
* DrivenToSuicide: She attempted multiple times to kill herself after the death of her baby, but given her CompleteImmortality, she was unable to do so.
* LoveTriangle: Got stuck in a tragic one between Zahard and V. Zahard loved Arlen, but she loved V, who loved Arlen in return.
* OfficialCouple: With V.
* {{Revenge}}: She offered her murdered baby's corpse to {{God}} in order to create [[spoiler:Baam]], and use him as a weapon to slit King Zahard's throat.
* WanderingTheEarth: Instead of going back to Zahard's side after V committed suicide, Arlen chose to wander the Tower alone searching for a means to escape the Tower, and bring her dead baby back to life.

An Irregular that climbed the Tower alongside Zahard and the 10 Great Family leaders. V was the one who Arlen had truly fallen in love with, which causes her to reject Zahard's marriage proposal. Similar to Arlen's story, the two of them ran away to revolt against Zahard after he became the Tower King, and locked the door to the 135th Floor. However, they lost said war, and became fugitives on the run. After Zahard killed their baby, V chose to commit suicide after seeing Arlen continuing to lose her sanity in the hopes that she would go back to Zahard's side to live a better life. However, she didn't choose to do so.

In the present, V and Arlen's existence have been erased to make it seem like it was only Zahard and the 10 Great Family leaders that originally climbed the Tower.
----

* CharacterDeath: Killed himself for Arlen's sake.
* DrivenToSuicide: After witnessing how much sanity Arlen lost due to the death of their baby, V killed himself so that she could live a better life without him.
* LoveTriangle: Got stuck in a tragic one where he was up against Zahard for Arlen's affection. In the end, Arlen chose V.
* OfficialCouple: With Grace Arlen.
* OneLetterName: Known only as V. [[spoiler: Since he's Baam's father, V most likely stands for Viole]].
* SignatureMove: He was the best at utilizing Shinsoo "Tension".

Zahard's Daughters or rather, Zahard's Princesses are adopted females that have, through arduous exams, proven themselves worthy of receiving Zahard's blood, giving them more power. They represent Zahard. They are the only one's allowed to carry the name of Zahard, as he has no children of his own[[note]]though there is the rumored Prince of Zahard[[/note]].

* ArchnemesisDad:
* VillainRespect:

[[quoteright:198:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arie_hon.png]]
[[caption-width-right:198:White Sword]]
->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

->'''Tower Position:''' Spear Bearer, Jeonsula

However, he has made an exception for Baam, saying that he may be capable of standing with the 10 Family Heads and Urek. See CondescendingCompassion.

* ManInWhite: And natty he is, too.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: The Workshop organizer, Madoraco, even comments it's hard not to notice who he is based on the expensive cigarettes he smokes.

* PitifulWorms: Considers most people to be nothing but bugs.

%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

* OfficialCouple: With Grace Arlen.
* OneLetterName: Known only as V. [[spoiler: Since he's Baam's father, V most likely stands for Viole]].
* SignatureMove: He was the best at utilizing Shinsoo "Tension".

!Princesses

Zahard's Daughters or rather, Zahard's Princesses are adopted females that have, through arduous exams, proven themselves worthy of receiving Zahard's blood, giving them more power. They represent Zahard. They are the only one's allowed to carry the name of Zahard, as he has no children of his own[[note]]though there is the rumored Prince of Zahard[[/note]].

!!!Tropes related to the Zahard Princesses

* AmazonBrigade: Well, yeah. Even the ones who aren't Rankers have skills you do ''not'' want to underestimate.
* ActionGirl: Most are this played very straight indeed. Even the exception to the rule, Repellista, kicks mental ass even though she never budges out her Lighthouse.
* TheBeautifulElite: Every princess seen or mentioned is depicted or described by onlookers as incredibly beautuful. Given that they are all adopted daughters being used to distract the public, this could be as important of a requirement as being strong.
* EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses: There are distinct perks to being one and the Tower residents treat them like celebs, so all the media they consume pushes this.
* GildedCage: The downside to being a Princess: you give up ''a lot'' of everyday, personal freedoms. Even beyond the whole "thou shall not date, mess about with the opposite sex, marry or bear offspring" raft of rules, there are other contractual shackles hinted at. Heck, you also have to deal with the more mundane hells of the media and fan attention with the resultant loss of privacy on top of the special bloodline commandments. Some can't hack it all and wind up cracking.
* HighTurnoverRate: The selection process is ''brutal'', but it doesn't stop there. Just earning the Zahard name gets you a target on your chest with inter-clan rivalries taking a toll on the pre-Regular and Regular Princesses. Even earning Ranker and finalising your claim to the name doesn't stop the attrition rate, even though it significantly decreases.
* InSeriesNickname: The Princesses of Zahard are among the strongest, most talented, and beautiful women in the tower. But King Zahard does not love them and forbids them from forming relationships with men or having children under penalty of death. As a result, they are known as the King's shoes in the display case. To be admired from afar, but never worn.
* LetsYouAndHimFight: Po Bideau Gustang proposed the system for talented females to compete against each other and gather the 13 Months series for the privilege of being Zahard's spouse, with all the prestige and power such a position would logically grant. [[spoiler: However, the system is rigged to never have a conclusion due to the first Princess having cursed the 13 Months and forced the first generation to kill each other. As time passed, the competition got distorted and the relationships between the families deteriorated to the point that by the time of Garam Zahard being chosen as a candidate, everybody seems to have forgotten the original goal and are purely focused on killing each other. Even if it wasn't, Zahard is uninterested in loving anyone else save his first love, and was responsible for rigging the game in the first place.]]
* PraetorianGuard: Part of their role is to protect Zahard and keep a watch over the system he put in place.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: A Princess who doesn't lift her weight won't remain one.

%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]
->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

Rank: Top 500

The first Zahard Princess to be introduced. Breaking the rules and following her own agenda is pretty much the standard for her. Hailing from the Great Ha Family, she's on good terms with most people she knows and socializes pretty easy. She also drags her guide, Evan, all over the Tower.

After heading down to the 1st Floor, Yuri plants her foot in Baam's face, and then lends him her powerful Black March weapon because she felt Headon's 1st Floor test was unfair. They follow after Baam to the 2nd Floor, but are unable to catch up to him in time due to suddenly disappearing from the Tower all-together. While on the 2nd Floor however, Yuri manages to save Anak and Androssi from a Ranker assassin that came to kill the two girls.

Some time later after learning about Baam surviving passed the 2nd Floor, Yuri takes Evan along to discover what truly happened to him, and manages to finally reunite with Baam on the D-rank area's Hell Train. Here, Yuri learns that Baam was forced to become a Slayer Candidate for FUG, who took him away on the 2nd Floor under everyone's noses, but instead of taking her anger out on FUG, she decides to go along with Baam's wish to ride the Hell Train up to the forbidden 43rd Floor known as the Floor of Death in order to help Baam find answers as to who he really is.

Yuri provides Baam an assignment at the 39th Floor's Name Hunt Station to steal away the station leader, Kaiser's, name in order for Baam to prove to Yuri that he's ready to take on the 43rd Floor. [[spoiler:In the end, Yuri's Kaiser mission turned out to be a trick since she didn't actually believe Baam could defeat Kaiser, but since he did, she's now forced to take him to the 43rd Floor, which she clearly didn't want. However, she gets interrupted by the arrival of Karaka, who's apparently seeking revenge against Yuri for killing the Train Conductor, Pedro, when she came to the Hell Train looking for Baam. Following the fight against Karaka, Yuri continues to ride the Hell Train to enter the 43rd Floor of Death with Baam's expedition group]].
----

* ActionGirl: Comes with the turf. [[BadassFamily Ha's]] don't tend to be reticent or meek. And, she's a Princess on top of that.
* BerserkButton: Really doesn't like it when it looks like her opponent isn't taking her seriously. Especially doesn't like it if they use the Zahard name in vain while they're doing so.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Ren]] is so screwed.
* CovertPervert: Everybody sees her as the great Princess. Nobody knows she's totally into that cute, little naive boy who doesn't know what's happening around him.
* ComedicSociopathy: Jumping onto people's faces and throwing your friends down cliffs is not very nice, Lady Yuri.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: She is a member of the Ha Family, who all possess incredibly powerful bodies.
* CoolBigSis: She's not supposed to be helping either Anak or Androssi out ''at all''. But, in a very ToughLove kind of way, she's got their backs. As far as she's concerned, they're family: however disgraced they may be, or whatever the factional politics is like today.
* DynamicEntry: In her first meeting with Baam.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: One strong enough to cleave a massive gash into the ground.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Nicknamed the "Tower's Effenberg," which refers to her aggressive, volatile, and outspoken personality.
** Her reputation got a bit better after retrieving the Green April, but it is more akin to begrudging recognition of her rather than real respect.
* IWillFindYou: Even after nearly a decade has gone by since she first met him, Yuri is still looking for Baam despite everyone, including the Zahard Family's chief Guide, telling her it was a lost cause. And, wouldn't you know it, [[spoiler: she not only can find the guy, but can also manufacture ways to bump into him, too.]]
* MysteriousPast: [[spoiler: [[http://inutero3334.blog.me/140135470259 With Lero Ro]]]].
* NoSell: Much like Baam, she has an exceptionally high amount of resistance to Shinsoo. This is not a surprising trait to find within the Ha Family, but Yuri multiplies it.
** She tanks everything Karaka throws at her, even his 'damage reversal' technique, all without taking a lick of damage. Oh yes, and Karaka happens to be a FUG Slayer so he's not just anyone.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Has been around for at quite a while by our standards.
* {{Nosebleed}}: Since Baam is a total hottie.
* RebelliousPrincess: Screw the rules, she has last minute whims! [[spoiler:And, a longer-term, likely rather strategic, straining against the rules her apparently reckless, random impulsiveness helps to hide. She actually ''became'' a princess for the purpose of becoming a rebellious one, and eventually goes full on traitor against Zahard.]]
* RebelLeader: [[spoiler:Though she still plays by the rules, superficially at least, she's also was present for the founding of the Wingtree organization and seems to have supported Anak's mother in her decision to marry.]] Not to mention she's rather more supportive of a certain FUG-linked Irregular than she should properly be.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Evan's blue.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: With Evan.
* TomboyPrincess: Doesn't particularly dress like one, but there's only one way to describe how she acts...
* TooCleverByHalf: When push comes to shove, she ''knows'' how to play the political game with appropriate cunning and ruthlessness. Ren, for example, learned this the hard way. Problem is, her can-do attitude can dump her in hot water by making her overshoot the target. As Evan helpfully keeps trying to remind her, despite knowing he's going to get ignored.

Lilial & Shilial together make up the final top-3 D-rank alongside Sachi and Kaiser.
----

* AlliterativeName: Between the two of them, L'''ilial''' and Sh'''ilial'''.
* ArcVillain: Alongside Kaiser, the Lo Po Bia twins served as this for the 39th Floor's Name Hunt Station arc, [[spoiler:but retreated from said Floor after Baam managed to defeat Kaiser]].
* TheBet: They make a bet with Androssi to steal away Kaiser's name at Name Hunt Station with the reward being that the Lo Po Bia Family will lay off their continued hunt for Anak. [[spoiler:Androssi ultimately loses the bet since she not only lost her duel to Kaiser, Baam also ended up resolving the situation by freeing Kaiser from the station]].
* CoolSword: Shilial fights with a sword-like needle.
* CoordinatedClothes: As twins, they both wear the same clothing.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Pink-hair with pink-eyes for Shilial. Lilial started off with yellow-hair with yellow-eyes but was later illustrated to have blue eyes, and has been blue ever since.
* DarkActionGirl: Both of them somehow manage to be the strongest of the top-3 D-rank Regulars and they are implied to be of a level similar to Kaiser.
* FacialMarkings: Shilial has some sort of black tattoo underneath her left eye.
* GirlishPigtails: The hair-style for Lilial.
* HairDecorations: The two Princesses wear black hair-ties to hold their hair up in pony-tails.
* ThePlan: In addition to trying to stop Androssi's Tower climb, the twins also attempt to defeat Viole so that the Lo Po Bia Family would have the glory of defeating a FUG Slayer Candidate.
* RedOniBlueOni: Lilial is the aggressive Red to Shilial's calm Blue.
* TheRival: Both can be seen as such for Androssi given that the twins are fellow Zahard Princesses. However, Lilial has the much stronger case.
** Lilial is seen as one for Androssi due to the former wanting to defeat Viole so that she can obtain glory for her Lo Po Bia Family by defeating FUG's newest Slayer Candidate.
** Shilial can be seen as one for Hatsu due to their similar means of combat fighting with swords.
* SingleMindedTwins: So far, apart from a few details in their design, they serve pretty much [[TheDividual the same role in the story]].
* TakeAThirdOption: Instead of siding with either Arie Rose Zahard or Hendo Lok Gladmerry Zahard's factions, like Leesoo formerly assumed, it is revealed that they are actually siding with [[spoiler: Koon Maschenny Zahard, a top 100 High Ranker.]]
* TomboyishPonytail: The hair-style for Shilial.

* CuteMonsterGirl: A cute green lizard woman
* DefectorFromDecadence: Left the Zahard family to marry and have a child with her lover.
* HappilyMarried: Despite the constant complaints about Anak's father in the flashback she is shown in and their seemingly never ending arguing, Anak states her mom was happy.

* RetiredBadass: Went into hiding after breaking Zahard's rule to start a family
* {{Tsundere}}: Shows signs of Type A in a flashback, wherein she spends most of it bemoaning her marriage and insulting her husband, but it's fairly obvious she loves the man. Anak states the only bad thing that ever happened to her mother was his death.

->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman, Jeonsulsa

Rank: Top 100

The owner of Yellow May, and the only Princess of the Koon family to have obtained one of the 13 Months. Her biological father is Eduan. She is from the sane branch family as Koon Ran, and taught him some of her techniques.

She is a powerful High Ranker (within the top 100), assisted in the capture of Eurasia Enne Zahard (the sealed rank 7), and devised a powerful technique that allows one to take the position of Spear Bearer without any physical spears. Perhaps fittingly, she is actually more suited to the Spear Bearer role, instead of Fisherman.

Maschenny made a bet with Yuri Ha in the Name Hunt Station arc, staking Yellow May for Green April to accomplish a currently unknown objective.

She also has data within the Hidden Floor, having cleared the Hell Train at a very young age. She is much more modest than her current self and worshipful of her father. She was defeated by the data of Zahard along with her siblings near the climax of the arc.
----

* TheAce: She's a High Ranker, is Koon Eduan's favourite child and was also one of the princesses that helped to take down [[AxCrazy Enne]] [[ActionGirl Zahard]].
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Of course, being a High Ranker as well as in the top 100 of all Rankers, she can back it up.
* BigShutUp: To Repellista's guards.
* BloodKnight: Wants to ignite a massive war in the Tower, and admits that she's probably a nut that can't live without fighting.
* HiddenDepths: Her data self professed to desiring to fight Zahard, however because she is a Princess she can never fight him. It was only in the Hidden Floor she could do this. Whether she still has this desire as a High Ranker on the outside is unknown.
** She's a Koon, a Princess and old enough to be a second, possibly even first, generation Princess with a data ghost doppelganger. None of that is trustworthy, all of it is deep and complicated.
* TheProudElite: One of the highest Ranker members of the Koon Family, and she's proud to show it.
* RebelliousPrincess: When King Zahard declares war, she personally heads an army, supposedly to kill one of [=FUG=]'s most important members, but lets him wipe out that army so that she can warn him about what Zahard is up to in private. Of course, she isn't really on his side either. She claims her main motive is as a BloodKnight that wants to coerce all the powers in the Tower into fighting a big war.
* ShockAndAwe: She is the creator of the Lightning Spear techniques.
* TrueBlueFemininity: She does not fit the whole "fair and gentle" personality oft seen in the trope, making her a subversion.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Like the rest of the Koon family, blue hair.

A Princess who is an oddity among her fellows because she has no interest in climbing the Tower and has no rank.

Despite this, she is in possession of one of the three Opera Lighthouses, constantly over-seeing the flow of information of the Tower. Yuri asked her to find Baam, a task she agreed to perform if she received one of Zygaena's flowers. After informing Yuri of Baam's whereabouts, she also provided Yuri with one of the Hell Train's tickets.

She is eagerly awaiting the return of the Prince of Zahard, and is unwilling to leave her room until he returns.
----

* BigBrotherIsWatching: Not a malevolent example, but she uses her Lighthouse to spy on everything occurring in the the Tower.
* TheChessmaster: She uses her Opera this way. For instance, it's implied that she was the one behind Baam's encounter with Mazino, since she seems to have asked Yuri to get her the child of Zygaena, knowing Yuri would ask Mazino and that this would lead him to meet Baam.

->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

Rank: 7

The strongest active princess and captain of Zahard's Royal Guard. Wielder of the Golden November, the only S-rank weapon among the 13 Months.

Despite being tied with Enne Zahard for strongest of Zahard's princesses as well as captain of Zahard's Royal Guard, she has no notable achievements or accomplishments to her name, nor does she like to participate in active duty as she does not like wandering around. She was appointed captain regardless because she was so powerful.

Even before becoming a Ranker, she was capable of defeating a Ranker and overwhelmed Garam Zahard in less than 100 years of becoming a Ranker. In the few fights she's been in with Rankers, she effortlessly overwhelmed them all. She is known to be a cold and quiet person, with little cares for the affairs in the Tower.
----

* TheAce: As powerful as Enne Zahard but with none of the mental instability that lead to her downfall. Also considered one of the most beautiful women in the entire Tower.
* AlternativeCalendar: Her age pretty much functions as this for observant readers. In a series where immortality is taken for granted by pretty much everyone, she is the character with the oldest confirmed age in the setting. While there are many characters who we can safely assume are older than her, such as Zahard or the 10 Great Warriors, none of their ages have been given. Her age and whether she was active in an event are the only tools readers have of grasping the true age of the older and more powerful characters.
* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: She is the captain of Zahard's Royal Guards.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: She has a multitude of male and female fans due to her golden hair and beautiful face.
* TheMagnificent: Adori was given the sobriquet "Killer Whale" since Killer Whales are the strongest Shinheuh in the Tower.
* MysteriousPast: What makes her stand out among her peers is that usually Princesses are selected from one of the Ten Families. Adori does not have this advantage, yet still is overwhelmingly powerful compared to her peers. Along with this, she is noted to have secrets in her private life and as a result nobody knows her true self.
* Really700YearsOld: If her profile is to be believed, she's over ''5000 years old''.

[[caption-width-right:297:Great White Shark]]

->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

Rank: 7

An infamous Zahard Princess that is considered a genius due to her being the daughter Eurasia Blossom and Po Bidau Gustang, meaning that Enne is one born from two direct Great Family Lines. At first, Enne was admired by many as one who was showing potential as the Princess that could end the Zahard Princess competition. However, discovering the truth as to why said competition exists led to her going insane, and began slaughtering any member of the Zahard Family she came across.

In the current day, the insane Enne has been sealed away in a mysterious labyrinth alongside her 13 Month Series weapon, the Colorless December.
----

* AxCrazy: After learning the truth of the competition between the Princesses, she began to behave oddly and began to attack members of the Zahard family irregularly. Because of the nature of the competition, it wasn't considered unusual for Princesses to kill each other, but after she disappeared with two of the 13 Months, Zahard put his foot down and ordered her capture. However, it is questionable if Enne really went insane or if it was a cover story made up by the Zahard family to discredit her.
* BrokenAce: Enne is a High Ranker and is tied with Adori Zahard as the strongest Princess and non-Irregular in the Tower. She is also one of four Princesses in-universe that have possessed more than one 13 Month Series weapon at a time.[[note]]Garam, Anak and Yuri are the other three.[[/note]] However, she snapped after reading Arlene's diary and confronting Zahard about it.
* LamarckWasRight: Enne is the daughter of Eurasia Blossom and Po Bidau Gustang, two of the 10 Great Warriors and also two of the most powerful Wave Controllers in the Tower. She is ranked higher than both of them.
* TheMagnificent: Known as the Great White Shark. After Zahard put out an order for her (and Garam Zahard's) capture, she decided to go on the run instead of hiding (like Garam). She knocked down Zahard's men and killed many of the Rankers who chased her, including two other Princesses; overall it took a whole host of Rankers and several Zahard's Princesses (including Maschenny Zahard) to capture her. There's even a rumour that Zahard himself interfered.

!!'''Garam Zahard'''

[[quoteright:297:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/garamtog_0.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A Zahard Princess who went missing a millennia ago around the same time as the "Eurasia Enne Zahard" incident. After killing a fellow Princess and taking her 13-Month weapon, Garam went into hiding on the 43rd Floor of Death, and hasn't been seen since. Her reasons for doing so are because she's sick of being a part of the Tower after it had been reduced to such a poor state.

In the present, Garam continues to remain on the Floor of Death where she acts as MsExposition when she meets Baam. Along with Yuri, she is one of only other Zahard Princesses to have two 13-Month series weapons at the same time.
----

* TheBeastmaster: Tamed one of the 43rd Floor of Death's giant Winged Beasts.
* {{Infodump}}: In two ways. Firstly, she bombards Baam (and the reader) with walls of necessary text. Secondly, she literally dumps a vital data source right in his hands with minimum preamble. It's justified because she's not got much time to get Baam up to speed on ''everything''. And, there's a huge amount to get up to speed on.
* InUniverseNickname: Named the Winged Beast she tamed as "Yadu".
* TheMagnificent: Princess of the Deep Colored Sea. Her actual sobriquet is Mako Shark.
* MsExposition: She explains to Baam the truth behind the Zahard Princess competition, as well as the boy's origins.
* MetaphoricallyTrue: Unfortunately, she's well aware she's pulling this. Part of the problem is that ''there is just so much to tell'' in a relatively short time, some of it is highly emotionally charged (and therefore distinctly uncomfortable to straightforwardly relate) for both her and Baam... and, she has a teensy bit of an agenda.
* RebelliousPrincess: Garam ditched being a part of the Zahard Family after finding out the truth about why the Tower is currently in such a poor state, especially after the Enne Zahard incident.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Light-blue hair.

->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: With Evan.

->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman, Jeonsulsa

* BigShutUp: To Repellista's guards.
She claims her
main motive is as a BloodKnight that wants to coerce all the powers in the Tower into fighting a big war.

In the present, [[spoiler:she's revealed during the Name Hunt Station arc to have formed some sort of Princess alliance with Maschenny and the Lo Po Bia twins for some reason that has yet to be explored]].
----

->'''Tower Position:''' Fisherman

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Light-blue hair.
