After the rumble, Ponyboy sees him straddling an unconscious Socs muttering to himself, later Darry explains that the Soc was the one who kicked Ponyboy in the head and that Sodapop kept pounding him during the rest of the fight.
* PrettyBoy: Soda is often described by Ponyboy as looking like a movie star or a Greek God.
* TragicDropout: Subverted. To outsiders who know him, he appears to be this. In reality, he was never academically inclined and loves his job at the gas station, so he's content with his life.

* BlessedWithSuck: Multiple times, Ponyboy mentions that the only thing that separates Darry from being a Soc is the gang, and because of their parents dying, he couldn't go to college, and had to look after Pony and Soda.

* ManlyTears: Darry cries when he and Sodapop are reunited with Ponyboy at the hospital. In the novel, Darry is able to hold back his tears until after Ponyboy apologizes for running away, but in the film, Darry is full-on crying as soon as he sees Ponyboy and clutches him in relief
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When he gets into a fight with Pony, he ends up knocking him to the ground, which causes Pony to run away. A letter from Sodapop later on reveals that Darry is deeply ashamed of what he did.

* PromotionToParent: Their parents passed away in a car accident, leaving him to figure out how to keep themselves fed and a roof over their heads.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's resigned to the fact that he is a worthless criminal, it's even stated in the novel that he always gets what he wants, but there isn't anything he wouldn't do for the other greasers.

* BewareTheNiceOnes / BewareTheSillyOnes: Out of all the greasers, Two-Bit is the less serious and one of the nicer ones of the bunch. However, after visiting Johnny in the hospital, he was in no mood to take Mrs. Cade's crap anymore.

* RealMenWearPink: It's easy to miss, but in the movie, Two-Bit is a Disney fan. At one point, he's utterly transfixed on the TV, watching the Mickey Mouse cartoon ''WesternAnimation/MickeysTrailer'' while holding a beer in one hand and most of a chocolate cake in the other.

* AbusiveParents: His dad throws him out every once in a while only to try to buy him back home.

* BreakTheCutie: Four months before the start of the story, Johnny got jumped by four Socs and got badly beaten, since then, Ponyboy describes him as being constantly jumpy and is very sensitive.

* HeroicSacrifice: Not only did those kids survive, but the rescue helped increase his and Ponyboy's chances of getting cleared of the murder charges that would have put Johnny in jail and Ponyboy into a boy's home. Sadly, Johnny doesn't live to see that.

* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards Ponyboy, more so in a lovable way than Darry, who lets it out by yelling at him.

* PapaWolf: Not as much as Darry, but still has his moments. After the rumble Ponyboy sees him straddling an unconscious Socs muttering to himself, later Darry explains that the Soc was the one who kicked Ponyboy in the head and Sodapop kept pounding him during the rest of the fight.

* TheSixthRanger: He wasn't originally a member of the greasers, but was forced to, to take care of his younger brothers instead of going to college.

* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: His real name is Keith, but everyone calls him "Two-Bit".

* BewareTheNiceOnes[=/=]BewareTheQuietOnes: He was always nice but after his jumping he became even quieter and started carrying a switchblade with the intent to kill whoever tried to jump him like that again, which he does.
