- Cool Old Guy: Despite his advanced age, Royland tends to head-butt men until they fall unconscious, as well as sustain numerous injuries and walk them off.
Torrhen Whitehill
- Berserk Button: Torrhen has been seen turning on a dime and gouging men's eyes out with a dagger.
- Genius Bruiser: While a massive beefcake of a man, Torrhen possesses quite a frightening intellect, able to come up with plans and orders in a split second.
- The Sociopath: Torrhen lies and manipulates to get his way without a care, punishes his younger brother without second thought and finds stimulation in beating or killing others.

Namond Glenmore:
- Knight Templar Big Brother: Namond instantly draws his sword on Torrhen the moment the latter threatens Kyra Glenmore.
- Childhood Friend: Lyarra is Talia's best friend - their friendship began when the former visited Ironrath with her sister, Elaena.
- Speech Impediment: Kyra has a stutter.

- The Quiet One: Brandon has appeared in numerous scenes but hasn't said a thing. Instead he makes his points through actions and facial expressions.
- Would Hurt a Child: Brandon punches Talia square in the face, knocking her unconscious for several hours and giving her a shiner of a black eye.

- The Pollyanna: Through the years she's acted as a pillar of optimism for her family, and retains a sunny disposition despite the various difficulties she's been faced with.
- Promotion to Parent: Lady Bole died giving birth to her fourth child, leaving Greta to act as a Parental Substitute for her younger sister, Winnie.
- Wicked Stepmother: Averted. Greta treats Roslin like her own daughter, and even considers her as such. The two have a very close relationship.
