The Ten Thunders is the largest crime syndicate in Malifaux, originating from the Three Kingdoms back on Earth and still based out of the Little Kingdom district of Malifaux City. Their members dabble in assassination, blackmail, gambling, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and just about every other criminal activity that you could possibly think of, having near total dominance over the city’s underworld. And with powerful magic and members loyal enough to die for the cause, their ambitions only continue to grow as their wealth swells.

Ten Thunders Keywords

Ancestor & Retainer

The people of the Three Kingdoms have long sought to take wisdom and inspiration from their ancestors. In Malifaux, the power of their bloodlines goes far beyond mere stories. These ancestral spirits can reach out to their descendants, granting them power and skills far beyond anything they possessed as mortals.

Many of the rail workers in Malifaux are immigrants from the Three Kingdoms, brought in by the Guild to do the hard work of building the railways for their masters. But among their number are many who owe their allegiance to other powers and who are more than happy to do whatever it takes to thumb their nose at the colonial oppressors who control them.

Honeypot

The Honeypot Casino is one of the largest and richest casinos in Malifaux City, set comfortably in the Little Kingdom District. Unknown to most, its owner has long owed debts to the Ten Thunders and, while they have been repaid, his influence and continued operations are still reliant on their mutually beneficial relationship.

The masters of the Ten Thunders are the Katanaka family. An ancient family of noble lineage, they have been one of Japan’s most brutal crime syndicates for generations, but their arrival in Malifaux has been a drastic shift, allowing the Ten Thunders to grow stronger than ever before and giving them power and influence beyond anything they experienced before.

The Five Rivers temples of Tibet have long been some of the greatest, and most secretive, martial arts academies on Earth. Oni

There are realms beyond both Earth and Malifaux, with their own inhabitants and their own dangers. One of these realms is a source of nearly as many legends as Malifaux itself, housing many powerful demons from Eastern myths. These oni are just as bloodthirsty as their legends warn, but they can be harnessed by those who are desperate or vicious enough to command their demonic power.

Qi and Gong

The Qi and Gong is the most famous, or perhaps infamous, tea house in the Little Kingdom. Its performers and refreshments are a delight to those who can afford them, but few realize what is going on in its back rooms. Its employees are in far deeper with the Ten Thunders then most would dream, acting as loyal spies and assassins for their masters.

Red Library & Story

The Red Library is just one part of the Library of All Things, a massive mystical repository of all the world’s knowledge. When the Ten Thunders gained access to this unprecedented resource, they cordoned off the section containing the knowledge of the Three Kingdoms, hiding their power and secrets for their exclusive use.

Wastrel

The Ten Thunders understand the value of skill and discretion. As well as the value of a good con. While they usually prefer to work with their own people, they are more than happy to spend a little money to hire the best and least moral treasure hunters and con artists in Malifaux to provide them with relics and a significant return on their investment.

Other Ten Thunders Characters

The Ten Thunders have many assets, and many loyalists all throughout Malifaux. While many of their members are bound to certain masters, others act with relative freedom, using the influence and power of the wider organization to advance their own ambitions and bring wealth and glory to the syndicate as a whole.
