- Wise Beyond Their Years: Due to her classmates' initial impression, she unconsciously acts mature around her friends. She still, however, has a childish side that she only shows to Yoshikawa.

- Beautiful Singing Voice: He can sing very well, but he hides his talent by singing softly during music class. He does utilises his talent to the max later on, thanks to the music teacher Hinohara's guidance.
- Delinquents: Due to his antisocial behavior and uncooperative attitude with teachers, his classmates view him as such. He softens up a bit when he becomes friend with Yoshikawa and is under Hinohara's counseling.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Although he appears cold, Nagai can be quite thoughtful and dependable to his friends when needed, like when he presses the fire alarm to allow Yoshikawa to be alone with Tanaka.

- New Transfer Student: When he is introduced in the series, it's his 4th school transfer.
- Hidden Depths: He is very good at reading between the lines. An example of this is that he can easily figure out the hidden romantic relationship between Yoshikawa and Tanaka.
