A sacred warrior of the Ling Dynasty. Nine hundred years ago, he led the uprising against Shendu, turning the demon into a statue and taking away his powers in the form of the Talismans. He's been long dead, but one episode features a terracotta statue of him. The [[AnimateInanimateObject Rat Talisman]] is used on the statue, bringing [[LivingStatue life to it]]. The statue has original Lo Pei's personality and powers. In the end of the episode, he's turned back into a statue.

* AscendedExtra: He first briefly appears in ''Project A, for Astral'' during the flashback in which he casts a spell to turn Shendu into a statue. One of the 2nd season's filler episodes gives him a name and a personality through the interactions his LivingStatue has with the modern world.

* CassandraTruth: Lo Pei's copy refuses to believe he's a statue, until he sees a poster depicting him in his statue form.
* CatchPhrase: Several times he makes some nature-inspired analogies to describe or muse upon something. They are all initiated by the analogy. A couple of examples:
--> "As the lily pad offers respite to the weary bullfrog, so your service to our cause is much appreciated."
--> "As the crescent moon is dutybound to follow the sunset, so shall I ''smite'' this Dark Hand."

* GoodIsNotNice: While he is dedicated to keep the Talismans from evil hands, he has no qualms about causing collateral damage or (non-lethally) disposing of people who seem to threaten him.
* GoodLuckGesture: Jade teaches him a thumbs up gesture as a sign of friendship. [[spoiler:After he's turned back to a liveless terracotta, his right hand is left in this gesture.]]
* GreaterScopeParagon: He's the one who turned Shendu into a statue and scattered his Talismans to the four corners of the Earth. [[spoiler: The same spell he used to accomplish that is reused on Shendu during the 3rd season.]]
* {{Irony}}: Valmont [[LampshadeHanging comments]] how life coming to the statue that portrays the man who turned Shendu into a statue is this.
* KungFuWizard: He easily takes down Jackie and Tohru with martial arts.
* LightningBruiser: He moves fast, strikes hard and survives being crushed under a taxi.

* MadeOfIron: When Tohru squashes him under a taxi, he survives uninjured. Jade suggests this to be because he's a LivingStatue.

* PaperTalisman: His magic is performed through scrolls. The ones he's shown using can be used to [[PowerFloats levitate]], petrify opponents and [[KiManipulation energy blasting]].
* PosthumousCharacter: The real Lo Pei has long been dead, but the living terracotta has his personality.

* PunnyName: When [[PungeonMaster Finn]] first hears Lo Pei's name, he makes a joke of it sounding like "low pay".

* WouldntHurtAChild: He's briefly tricked by the Enforcers to think they are his [[PaperThinDisguise fellow Ling warriors]] until they make the mistake of grabbing Jade.
