** ''Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Thefts of Christmas'' by Tim Majors revolves around a puzzle challenge Irene Adler has set for Holmes. Because she wants it to be a real challenge, it's deliberately designed to not be entirely amenable to his normal method of rational deduction. But because she wants him to have a chance, even if he's uncomfortable with it, she's set things up so these difficulties can be overcome with assistance. By the end it's become apparent that she has almost exactly predicted not just the thought processes and actions of Holmes himself, but of Dr Watson, Mary Watson and even Mrs Hudson.
