• When Dawn refuses to apologize to her little sister, her mother decides to force her to stay at the dinner table until she does. Dawn sits there for hours, never saying a word, until finally her mother gives in and tells her to go to bed. It's probably the only time Dawn was able to stand up for herself with any measure of success.
• While at the seminar trying to warn other children about stranger danger after Missy was safely returned, all of the children begin to yell "Weiner Dog" and other names at her while she was trying to deliver her speech, only for her principal to tell at the top of his lungs "QUIET!!" at them. Not only was it possibly the sole time in the film that any adult actually acts in Dawn's defense, but every single child obeys his order.
