Awesome / Warhammer: The End Times

Go To

  • As controversial as End Times is, the final battle in Middenheim is undoubtedly one of the most epic events in Warhammer history as, in a desperate bid to prevent Archaon’s victory, Teclis teleports the Incarnates of the Winds of Magic and their remaining armies into the heart of the city. Standout moments include:

    • The remaining Dwarfs of Zhufbar holding the line so the Incarnates can enter the tunnels and search out Archaon. The stout warriors are preparing their ranks and are readying for their final battle, but who comes to join them? Grombrindal the White Dwarf, Josef Bugman, Gotrek Gurnisson, and the ghosts of EVERY DWARF WHO HAS EVER LIVED. At the sight of these reinforcements, the weary dwarfs straighten their backs and know that every moment of their people's proud history has led to this. The Eternal Realm may have met its end, but its proud people, both living and dead, will meet that end together, axes and rifles in hand and shouts in the air.

    • The final showdown in the excavation chamber. After fighting their way through chaos warrior-filled streets and down tunnels crammed with Skaven, the Incarnates finally reach the chamber but are stunned to see a host of thousands of Plaguebearers, Bloodletters, Daemonettes, Flamers, and other unspeakable horrors blocking their path. The Incarnates are stunned and falter for a second, but only a second. Without a word from any of their leaders, the last of the Reiksguard and State Troops of the Empire, the Eternity Guard and warriors of a unified Elven Nation, The shambling thralls of the Undying King, and the legendary Immortalz and Orcs of the greatest WAAGH! the world has ever seen all erupt into roars and charge across the cavern floor, their leaders charging and taking flight along with them. The following pages see the ultimate culmination of the setting's Order vs. Chaos conflict. The battle is so intense that, by the end of it, no mortals or demons are left alive except for the Incarnates, Teclis, and Archaon.
  • Nagash, having destroyed almost everything Settra holds dear, gives him one last chance to change his fate: swear loyalty to Nagash, and he can become one of his Mortarchs. Settra's response is widely considered to be one of the few inarguably great things to come from End Times:
"SETTRA DOES NOT SERVE! SETTRA RULES!"
