This Troper and meta moment

* Face it. 50,000 people and counting, all mashing buttons and sending random commands to the protagonist of a Pokémon game, with a large amount of them doing nothing but randomly pausing or mashing a single button just to halt progress. If you told anyone about this experiment and they hadn't heard of it, they'd assume that within a week Red would still be trying to get past the first gym under the control of tens of thousands of people. That is not the case. Red has '''completed the entire game.'''

* As one Tumblr post [[http://espeonofficial.tumblr.com/post/76901812654/twitch-plays-pokemon-made-it-to-celadon-fucking put it]]: "twitch plays pokemon made it to celadon fucking city. they were struggling to get into rock tunnel last night. the fact that in this discombobulated mess of button pressing they have managed to get three badges and make their way halfway through this game is nothing short of a testament to human tenacity."

** One comment on the aforementioned comic gives the response of the mob: [[http://comments.deviantart.com/1/437766956/3393594757 Fool.]] Did you really think you could be so bold as to challenge us? Of course we would have made it here eventually, but it would have been on our terms, not yours. Did you even think of the consequences of your actions against us? Just look around you. Johto lies in ruins. Kanto is dead. The Elite Four? Eliminated. Firends and family? Gone. And why did we go to such lengths, such extents, such unneeded agony for all? Because to us, it's all just a game. An experiment, to see if hundreds of people could coordinate enough to complete an otherwise simple game using a small range of input. The victory over the Elite Four and your rival Blue proved it was a success. And while you were the first, it won't be the last. After all, an experiment needs to be done multiple times to see if it is true or the few positive instances were just flukes, and we still need to head on over to Hoenn, don't we? We all know how this will end. Either you win, where we restart at the last Pokemon Center and climb back up to challenge you again, or you lose, and die. Because while we may have needed over a hundred thousand voices and commands to control you, we only need one to finish you, for once you reach the top, there is only one direction you can go: DOWN."
** This troper responded to the above with this (comment was written before Bill died: "And what if you DO wind up forcing Red down? Look around yourselves. Thousands of universes destroyed. Kanto, Johto and Hoenn affected by time ripples. Every god now deceased. Your so-called "experiment" has killed billions, men and 'mon. Think of the minds that you warped that day, the day you entered Red's body. I know of the truth. I know that if you don't get yer shit together, Bill will triumph. Your pointless "Anarchy v. Democracy" wars are only letting the technician succeed. Even if you stop him, he will still win."

* After ''WebVideo/TwitchPlaysPokemonBlack'' was completed, the Streamer [[http://www.reddit.com/r/twitchplayspokemon/comments/29a571/pok%C3%A9mon_red_again/ expressed interest]] in doing an anniversary run of Red in full anarchy.

* A rather odd moment involving ''fainting'' - after being [[http://i.imgur.com/WU9fUEG.png stuck in a two-square wide corridor in Cinnabar Island's Pokémon Mansion]] for a record '''1 hour and 32 minutes''' due to rather unfortunate positioning, Red overcame the odds yet again and King Fonz (Nidoking) became the final party member to faint (in battle against a Koffing), ''finally'' allowing Red to black out and return to Cinnabar's Pokémon Center, narrowly averting [[UnwinnableByMistake/{{Pokemon}} Unwinnable By Mistake]]. In addition, a save state was written just as the heroic fainting occurred, too. At last, "Grindhog Day"/"The Great Burglar And Table In Our Way Crisis" is at an end, and Operation Blackout (Goal: Faint our team, very ''very'' quickly) is a success! However, the Secret Key ''still'' hasn't been obtained..

The trope is Necessarily Evil.

** To emphasize: For the past week, the mob has been worried that the Safari Zone would be the bane of the stream. Worried that they'd have to resort to cheating and turning the step counter off, they eventually took on the NecessaryEvil of democracy and made it to their goal ''with steps to spare''.
