• When Ning Yi first appears he acts like a drunken idiot. He continues to act like an idiot in his next scene. Then he drops the pretence and for the first time we see how intelligent he really is, as he calmly predicts events in the Qiu household that are happening right as he speaks.
• Ning Yi's plan in episode thirty-eight. He exposes Lady Wang's part in Ya Le being framed, plants false evidence in Lady Wang's room then reveals it so she knows how Ya Le felt, and makes sure all of this happens in front of the entire royal court so no one can cover it up.
