* Meta-example for Rob Wiethoff. Despite it being his only video game role ever, and one of the only acting roles he ever had (especially since he retired from acting shortly after), Wiethoff's performance as John Marston is regularly listed as one of the finest voice acting performances in gaming history, being placed near the top of many "Best Ever" lists for voice acting.

* [[spoiler:John Marston's LastStand. After fighting off a small army of men assaulting the Marston farm, John, Abigail and Jack are cornered in the barn by a squad of Ross's men. John gets them onto a horse, ordering them to "keep riding and don't look back", and strides out to meet the enemy. There's more men than you have bullets in your gun, every barrel pointed straight at you, and it looks like there's nothing you can do... [[DefiantToTheEnd and then the screen desaturates to the familiar sepia of Deadeye]]. John dies, but he dies knowing he saved his family, and he goes out like a true cowboy: with a gun in his hand.]]
** It becomes even more badass if you have the Mauser Pistol equipped at the time, [[spoiler: as due to the gun's high ammo capacity and fast fire rate you can potentially take out up to a dozen of Ross's men before the rest gun you down]].
* [[spoiler:Jack]]'s VigilanteExecution of [[spoiler:Edgar]]. KarmaHoudini? I don't think so!

* Landon Ricketts [[spoiler: dying in his sleep]]. Might not sound like much in the grand scheme of things, but consider the fate of all the famous gunslingers of the West (Billy the Kid, Wild Bill etc). They were all murdered by someone else. With Ricketts [[spoiler: the only thing that could kill him was time itself.]]
* The Assault on Fort Mercer. Sure, it's not really far into the game, but [[spoiler: seeing Marston pop out of Dicken's wagon with a gatling gun and absolutely lay waste to dozens of mooks definitely belongs here.]]

* Random happenstance can turn many of the games moments into cinematic triumphs. For example, it's completely possible to duel [[spoiler: Edgar Ross]], during a thunderstorm, in the middle of the night, ''as wolves circle you both''.

* A small one, but when John first walks into the sheriff's office and tells Jonah he's from Fort Mercer, Jonah reacts by reaching for his gun. When John notices this, he pulls his gun out twice as fast and is already pointing it at Jonah when the latter gets his out. Only took a split second to show that difference in experience.

* Like the new one, becoming really good at shootouts can be awesome to watch.

* Mexico is one long CrowningMomentOfAwesome for John. Not only does he manipulates both the Government and the Rebellion in order to get his objective, he also manages to win some of the biggest shootouts in western history. He's pretty much the one who decides who wins the war at the end, even if he doesn't care.
** Except for that one time he almost gets executed for betraying the government. Then it's a CrowningMomentOfAwesome for the Rebels.

* This is just me, but as a huge fan of Preacher, I found it immensely enjoyable to don a duster coat, pick up a 6-gun, and turn on infinite ammo, health, and Dead Eye cheats in order to walk around role-playing the Saint of Killers.

*** Certain times of day make this mission (among others) even more awesome. Setting off from Macfarlane's early in the morning, meeting up with Irish just before dawn gives a real sense of going on an adventure to a foreign land. Fighting through the sunrise, then heading off to Chuparosa with the sun behind you and Far Away playing.

** This troper had a similarly awesome experience that gave Marston ChronicHeroSyndrome; he was in the middle of rescueing Floyd Brogles at Gaptooth Breach when a "Hangman's Noose" NPC came asking Marston to come help save his wife. The player then left Gaptooth Breach, followed the husband, shot his wife's noose loose, killed the criminals and then road back to Gaptooth Breach to save Floyd, get the treasure and then completed the second phase of "Funny Man". Pure Win!
** And again, during "The Gates of El Presidio"; during the chase with Javier Escuella, I shot down his horse, engaged him in GoodOldFisticuffs, until he tried to steal my horse, at which point I had to kill the horse, and kept beating him until he started shooting at me. Then I had to kill him, all while a thunder storm occurred to add to the awesome.
** For me I like to stand on the balcony of the Saloon of Armadillo and when I hear gunshots and hear them coming I whip out my Winchester trigger Deadeye and take them all out with one bullet each. After that I calmly put away my rifle head downstairs for a shot of whiskey and go play Poker like nothing's happened at all.
** For me, it was my RoaringRampageofRevenge against [[spoiler: Ross]]. I arrived at his home and after I was done, lit the place on fire with his wife inside. I found his brother and we proceeded to brawl. In a thunder storm no less. I beat him down and finished him off with a tomahawk to the head just as he drew his gun. I found [[spoiler: Ross]] and we started the duel. At the moment, I was thinking of all the people who died throughout the game and put 8 bullets in him (4 in the chest for [[spoiler: Abigail, Uncle, Nastas, Luisa]] and I even added 3 for Dutch, Javier and Bill even if they didn't deserve it. And the last hit him in the neck for [[spoiler: John]]. Despite being riddled with more bullets then any mortal man could take, the bastard still managed to stand for a few seconds, grasping his chest in pain before collapsing.
