• In chapter 20 of the manga, Sorata (in disguise as a young woman named Sorako) throws himself in front of Hazuki to prevent her from being drenched in boiling oil thrown by a brutish relative trying to discover the key to a hidden treasure. He avoids serious injury only because he was wearing a specially-reinforced kimono, suffering nothing worse than a scalded back.
