[[folder:Twelfth Doctor]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dwawesome12.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Going out with a bang - literally.]]
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYN6ruU672Y first released teaser]] features the Twelfth Doctor standing in the shadows, with the TARDIS [[ExplodingInstrumentation console exploding]] in the background. The new Doctor doesn't even flinch.
* The final Series 8 teaser has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7TegbBPMkE the Doctor literally break the fourth wall by tapping in to form "TODAY" in the crack.]]

[[AC:Deep Breath]]
* Clara's refusal of the Half-Faced Man's demand. Added points for the fact that Clara is visibly terrified and crying while doing so, yet never backs down. Lampshaded by the Doctor:
--->'''The Doctor:''' "Five-one and crying. You never stood a chance."
* Clara is saying the Doctor she knows will come for her no matter what, holding out a hand waiting...and then a hand moves into hers and pulls her back. One of the "robots" peels off his face to show the Doctor just as his new theme music kicks in.
-->'''Doctor''': "Hello, hello! Rubbish robots from the dawn of time!"
* Jenny and Vastra make a very stylish BigDamnHeroes entrance into the "larder" of the ancient ship.
--> '''Vastra:''' '''"Remain still and lay down your weapons in the name of the British Empire!"'''
* The Doctor's final confrontation with the Half-Faced Man. He tells him he's afraid he's going to have to kill him, surmising it's the only way to stop him and that he's the command module for the other clockwork droids. After a brief scuffle, in which the Half-Faced Man says he can't self-terminate and the Doctor says he can't kill him, the Doctor says one of them is lying. Cue the Half-Faced Man impaled on a tower, and the Doctor giving the camera a hell of a DeathGlare.
--> '''The Doctor:''' "Those people down there? [[Recap/DoctorWhoS30E17E18TheEndOfTime They're never small to me]]. Do not make assumptions about how far I will go to protect them, because I've already come a '''very long way!''' And unlike you... I do not expect to reach the Promised Land."

[[AC:Into the Dalek]]
* Despite being a PyrrhicVictory on the Doctor's part, Rusty the Dalek turning on and destroying the rest of the Daleks is admittedly pretty spectacular.
--> '''Rusty''': "[[AC:I see into your soul, Doctor. I see beauty. I see divinity. I... see... ''hatred''! ... I see your hatred of the Daleks, and it is good!]]"
* The Doctor gets one not only for rescuing Journey at the last second, but when she's threatening him with a gun, he doesn't bat an eye or even put his coffee down. He just calmly tells her that that is not how you ask for something. He actually gets her to back down and ask for help politely.
* This episode captures the true horror of a Dalek assault force. A Dalek saucer descends on to the ''Aristotle'', which is dwarfed by the saucer's size, with cries of "Exterminate" echoing all around. Chillingly awesome.
** Likewise, the Combined Galactic Resistance deciding that, if the Daleks want to take down the ''Aristotle'', they're going to have to fight through them to achieve it.
---> '''[[AuthorityEqualsAsskicking Colonel]] Morgan Blue''': "That door's never going to hold. But I'm damned if I'm going to make it easy for them!"

[[AC:Robot of Sherwood]]
* After Robin Hood attempts to steal the TARDIS, all property being theft to him, the Doctor defeats him in a swordfight with a spoon.
* Robin vs. The Sheriff. It starts with a sword fight and ends with Robin copying the Doctor's evasion technique to knock him into the gold vat.
* The Doctor leading the enslaved peasants to revolt against their captors. They take unmelted gold plates and use them as reflector shields against the robot knights' laser beams. ThePlan is so successful that all of the robots in charge of the area are completely destroyed, allowing the peasants to escape.
* Robin managing to shoot a golden arrow, as in an arrow that must weigh more than a brick, miles into the air with an 1190-ish bow. With his arm broken! While compensating for the two other people who are helping to hold his bow!
* "When did you start believing in impossible heroes?" The fact that Robin Hood was so impossibly awesome that each and every one of the Doctor's regenerations believed it couldn't be real. Not even the child-like Eleven or the human-curious One ever considered him plausible enough to even investigate. Coming from someone like the Doctor, that says a lot about how awesome Robin is.

[[AC:Listen]]
* Clara managing to make the Doctor follow orders.
--->'''Clara''': "Promise me you won't look at where we've been. Just fly us out of here."\\
'''Doctor''': "I don't take orders, Clara. Not from anyone."\\
'''Clara''': "[[MeaningfulEcho Do as you're told]]."
* The Doctor turning his back on the monster under Rupert's bed, and then urging Clara and Rupert to do so with him. Sure, he was terrified for their safety if they saw something that evolved to be a perfect hider, but it takes true courage to ignore the things you're scared of if it means protecting someone else.

[[AC:Time Heist]]
* In the same vein as "The Night of the Doctor" confirming the Creator/BigFinish audios as canon with the show, "Time Heist" confirmed the ''Magazine/DoctorWhoMagazine'' comics as canon with a cameo of Abslom Daak on a wanted poster.
* Really, the whole heist is one for the Doctor. He puts together the perfect team and makes it through the biggest, most impenetrable bank in the universe, all to save the lives of the last two of an ancient species.

[[AC:The Caretaker]]
* Danny's BigDamnHeroes moment. He decloaks from the invisibility watch and buys the Doctor some well needed time by drawing Blitzer's fire, then ''backflips over him'' and then runs to hug Clara.
* Danny [[WhatTheHellHero calls the Doctor out for treating the situation with the killer alien robot casually]]. Then he learns [[AristocratsAreEvil the Doctor is a Time]] ''[[AristocratsAreEvil Lord]]'', [[AristocratsAreEvil one of the "aristocracy" who starts conflicts]], and begins to address the Doctor as a superior officer, knowing that it will provoke his anger. Anger that Danny doesn't even flinch from, a considerable feat given the formidable performance by (and [[BigOlEyebrows aggressive eyebrows]] of) Creator/PeterCapaldi. Danny Pink stands his ground confronting an alien with obviously superior tech on said alien's home turf.

[[AC:Kill the Moon]]
* Courtney kills a spider-germ with disinfectant.

[[AC:Mummy on the Orient Express]]
* Meta case: The recreation of the Orient Express is amazing SceneryPorn.
* Perkins proves to be so awesome, he's one of those rare individuals who the Doctor decrees to be "a genius."
** Perkins' WhatTheHellHero speech. "Doctor, are you really a genius or are you just ''extremely arrogant''?" The Doctor doesn't even snap at him. He ''agrees'' with him that he "could be both."
* Captain Quell deciding to FaceDeathWithDignity, but not to go quietly.
--->'''Quell''': "What kind of soldier would I be to die with bullets still in my gun?"
* The Doctor lives up to his earlier BadassBoast; "One minute with me and this thing would be over."
* The villain of the piece manages to be smart enough to get all the information they needed, blew up the train to prevent the Doctor from finding them, and is still out there somewhere, having gotten away scot-free.
* Foxes contributes an ''incredible'' slow-jazz cover of "Don't Stop Me Now".

[[AC:Flatline]]
* The Doctor's speech to the Boneless as he banishes them back to their home dimension after regaining control of the TARDIS.
--> '''The Doctor:''' "I tried to talk, I want you to remember that. I tried to reach out, I tried to understand you, but I think that you understand us perfectly. And I think that you just don't care! And I don't know whether you are here to invade, infiltrate or just replace us. I don't suppose it really matters now, you are monsters! That is the role you seem determined to play, so it seems that '''I''' must play '''mine'''! The man that stops the monsters! I'm sending you back to your own dimension. Who knows? Some of you may even survive the trip, and if you do, remember this: ''you'' are not welcome here! This plane is protected! '''I''' am the Doctor! ''(Catches his screwdriver)'' And I name you: the Boneless!"
* Clara using the Boneless's powers against them to get the TARDIS back to normal.
* The Doctor, trapped in a tiny TARDIS, escapes from the path of an oncoming train, by reaching through the door, lifting the TARDIS from the outside and walking it off the tracks like the Thing from ''Franchise/TheAddamsFamily''.

[[AC:In the Forest of the Night]]
* [[BigDamnHeroes Danny]] scares an escaped zoo tiger away simply by blinding it with a torchlight.

[[AC:Dark Water]]
* Missy, for elegantly setting up a plan behind the Doctor's back, hiding her true identity from him, gathering countless cadavers to build up the Cybermen armies, and reaching the point of victory in one fell swoop.
** Her reveal as well should get special credit:
--> '''The Doctor:''' "Who are you?"\\
'''Missy:''' "Oh, you know who I am. I'm Missy!"\\
'''The Doctor:''' "Who's Missy?"\\
'''Missy:''' "Please, try to keep up. It's short for "Mistress". Well... Couldn't very well keep calling myself "[[WhamLine The Master]]", now could I?"\\

[[AC:Death in Heaven]]
* Missy basically conquers the world, and can easily conquer the universe by pushing a button. The only reason she loses is because she wants the Doctor to be her friend again so much she basically ''hands the Doctor a win switch,'' knowing he doesn't dare use it without giving her what she wants. On top of that, she flummoxes the Doctor so much that this ''almost works.'' The Doctor, even when he prepares to kill her, flat out admits that she won.
* A posthumous one for an old friend. Even in death, at the Earth's darkest hour, the Brigadier defended his world one last time, by shooting Missy, and saving his daughter after she fell out of a plane. Plus, it gave the Doctor a second chance to say goodbye after he missed out the first time, and let Twelve do the one thing Three never did: Salute his old friend.
* After being blown out of Base One, the Doctor proceeds to skydive into his likewise descending TARDIS.
* The Doctor, faced with a SadisticChoice - accept Missy's army and use it to conquer, or allow the Cyber-Rain to wipe out humanity - does what he does best, TakesAThirdOption, giving control of the Cyber-Army to Danny. All because the Doctor sees that he was wrong, that Cyber-Danny won't harm Clara and that HeartIsAnAwesomePower.

[[AC:Last Christmas]]
* Shona, successfully bypassing the sleepers without rousing the dream crabs ... by ''rocking out to Slade''.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Wm62r-uhA The spectacularly epic entrance]] [[BigDamnHeroes by Santa, his elves, and Rudolph]].

[[AC:The Magician's Apprentice]]
* Clara getting Missy - who has just vaporized two people and is threatening to kill a third one - to ''listen to reason'' and to actually let the frozen planes go, which is a pretty impressive feat in itself. Not to mention that this kind and gentle schoolteacher is shown preparing to order UNIT snipers to kill Missy at her command.
* The Doctor's grand entrance to his duel with Bors; riding a tank, playing the show's theme on a battle axe electric guitar.
* Davros, whilst dying and confined to a life support machine, still manages to steal the spotlight as the episode's BigBad. He verbally challenges the Doctor's morals, using the Doctor's past actions against him, and then reduces the Doctor to a begging mess when Missy and Clara are exterminated.

[[AC: The Witch's Familiar]]
* The Doctor riding into the Daleks' control room, in [[CrazyAwesome Davros's chair.]]
--> '''The Doctor:''' "Admit it! You've all had this exact nightmare."
* The Doctor seeing through Davros' WoundedGazelleGambit and using his regeneration energy to turn the decaying, decrepit Daleks on the others.
-->''"One word. Er, no, two words, actually. First word, moron. Second word, sewers."''
* The Doctor destroying the Hand Mines to save a young Davros, instilling in his future self a vestigial sense of mercy that was transferred, however mildly, to the Daleks.
* Davros' plan is pretty awesome in itself. He gives a performance so good, it makes sense that so many of the Kaled scientists in the years leading up to "Genesis" never realised what he was planning.

%%[[AC:Under the Lake]]

[[AC: Before the Flood]]
* The Doctor giving a fourth wall-breaking lesson about the Bootstrap Paradox, using traveling back in time and becoming Beethoven as an example. He finishes the lecture with an electric guitar riff of the 5th symphony, before a kick-ass electric guitar version of the show's theme (''reportedly played by Capaldi himself!'') plays over the intro.
* The Doctor's badass speech to the Fisher King. Followed up by tricking him to his own demise.
-->'''Fisher King''': "You will be a strong beacon. How many ghosts can I make of you?"\\
'''The Doctor:''' "You know, you've got a lot in common with the Tivoleans. You'll both do anything to survive. They'll surrender to anyone. You will hijack other people's souls and turn them into electromagnetic projections. That will to endure... that refusal... to ever cease. It's extraordinary. And it makes a fella think. Because you know what? If all I have to do to survive is tweak the future a bit, what's stopping me? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The ripple effect. Maybe it will mean that the universe will be ruled by cats or something, in the future. But the way I see it, even a ghastly future is better than no future at all. You robbed those people of their deaths, made them nothing more than a message in a bottle. You violated something more important than Time. You bent the rules of life and death. So I am putting things straight. Here, now, this is where your story ends."

[[AC: The Girl Who Died]]
* The Mire are a merciless race of intergalactic raiders with high technology weapons and they get tricked into retreating by a group of fishermen, farmers, two storytellers and a school teacher. Then they are blackmailed to staying away with a record of such a humiliating loss.

%%[[AC: The Woman Who Lived]]

[[AC: The Zygon Invasion]]
* The fact that the Zygon rebels pulled off a pretty effective plan. They've been working on their "invasion" for under a year at most, and no one, be it UNIT or the Doctor, noticed. Ineffective villains, they are not.

[[AC: The Zygon Inversion]]
* "Five rounds rapid." Quoted from Kate '''Lethbridge-'''Stewart.
* Clara's reverse hacking of Bonnie's psychic link.
** She messes around with Bonnie's bazooka aim just enough to make her miss with the first shot and then delay the second one long enough for the Doctor and Osgood to escape.
** Clara also took advantage of her PsychicLink with Bonnie to tell the Doctor she was safe. She did so by taking control of Bonnie's hand and using it to send a text to the Doctor. She made it without having Bonnie notice it ''and'' without looking at her phone, and despite that she got the text right and sent it to the right number.
* The Doctor's ''epic'' rant about the futility of Bonnie's plan and the poisonous nature of cycles of revenge and war is one of the most badass speeches on the need for {{forgiveness}} to break the cycle ever given in fiction or in real life.
-->''"I don't understand? Are you kidding me? Of course I understand. I mean, do you call this a war, this funny little thing? This is not a war, [[SuddenlyShouting I FOUGHT IN A]] [[GreatOffscreenWar BIGGER WAR THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW]], [[MyGreatestFailure I DID WORSE THINGS THAN YOU CAN EVER IMAGINE]], [[ShellShockedVeteran AND WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES, I HEAR MORE SCREAMS THAN ANYONE COULD BE ABLE TO COUNT!]] And do you know what you do with that pain? Shall I tell you where you put it? You hold it tight, till it burns your hand. And you say this: No-one else will ever have to live like this, no-one else will have to feel this pain. Not on my watch."''
** A meta one here for Creator/PeterCapaldi as well. In the hands of a lesser actor, the Talking the Monster Into a Heel-Face Turn aspect of this scene could have been pure {{Narm}}. Capaldi, however, sells the performance completely, to the point where the fact that the Doctor's speech leads to a resolution of the conflict is utterly believable.
** It was broadcast on the week of Armistice Day (the British and Commonwealth memorial to the end of the First World War) and the day before Remembrance Sunday (similar, but more moveable) makes its message all the more poignant.
** During his fight with Bonnie she starts ranting [[NeverMyFault "You are responsible for all of the violence. All of the suffering."]] The Doctor's response is a very calm [[ShutUpHannibal "No, I'm not".]] This continues this way with the Doctor remaining completely unmoved; after years of watching him take in every WhatTheHellHero speech given to him even if the person giving it is ObviouslyEvil it's satisfying to see him finally ignore one.

[[AC:Sleep No More]]
* The simple fact that the episode takes on what had by this point long become a stodgy cliche of the FoundFootage horror story, and actually makes it work by making an asset of the basic contrivance of all such stories, that there's always a convenient camera around to record everything important.

[[AC:Face the Raven]]
* Clara's choice to FaceDeathWithDignity. Unlike everyone else, she doesn't run, and has the moral withal to forbid the Doctor from taking vengeance.

[[AC: Heaven Sent]]
* The Doctor is trapped in a castle made to screw with him. He has no way of beating the monster that is chasing him, and there's a handy-dandy re-spawn generator around, so he can die over and over again - trouble is, he re-spawns without his memory, so he has to start over each time. The monster will let him go if he tells it about the Hybrid, which the Doctor is unwilling to do. Between him and freedom is a substance that is four hundred times tougher than diamond. He works out at the last minute what is happening each time around, and concludes that rather than giving in he should punch the wall repeatedly until it gives way. Four and a half billion years later, the Doctor breaks free of the castle, ready to rain fire down on whatever started this. To reiterate, '''[[CrazyAwesome he punched his way back to Gallifrey.]]'''
** Each time the Doctor figures out what's going on, the monster catches him - but although it doesn't kill him on the spot, it does leave him in an awful amount of pain. That means he's got to get back to the re-spawn generator to give himself another go - which in the condition the monster leaves him in, horribly burned and slowly dying, takes him about a day and a half. Countless iterations of the Doctor go through this, and ''every last one of them'' manages to make it in time, none of them willing to give up. He definitely proves his words at the beginning: [[TheDeterminator "I will never, ever stop."]]
** "And the shepherd's boy says, there's this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it, and an hour to go around it! Every hundred years, a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. And when the entire mountain is chiselled away, the first second of eternity will have passed! You must think that's a hell of a long time; personally, I think that's a hell of a bird!"
* A meta one for Peter Capaldi, Steven Moffat, Rachel Talalay, and Murray Gold. This entire episode is an hour long one-man show with only the script, the director, the music, and a masterful performance by Peter Capaldi to keep it together, and the result is one of the immediately best received and simultaneously most experimental episodes in years, creating what has already been deemed by many to be a high point for New Who.
* The Doctor's first trip into his imaginary TARDIS when he makes a seemingly suicidal jump, revealing that every single stray action he took in the preceding scene was designed to test if he could survive it, and as soon as he realized he could, he went for it.

[[AC: Hell Bent]]
* For the first ten minutes of the episode proper, the Doctor doesn't say a single word. He silently stays with a group of Gallifreyans in the barn where he ended the war, and when the military shows up to arrest him, he simply draws a line in the sand and goes back inside. None of them dare to cross it, so Rassilon himself shows up, and the Doctor finally speaks: "Get off my planet."
-->'''Rassilon:''' "Who the hell does he think he is?"\\
'''General:''' "The man who won the Time War, sir."
* Rassilon eventually returns with a group of soldiers and orders them to shoot the Doctor. They all intentionally miss him, refusing to kill somebody who served by their side during the Time War. The Doctor successfully overthrows and banishes Rassilon through sheer reputation, without even having to lift a finger.
-->'''The General:''' "Lord President, [[WithDueRespect with respect]], '''get off his planet.'''"
* Getting to see the original TARDIS interior is a long-time fan's dream. It's especially awesome since it was supposed to appear in [[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E4TheDoctorsWife an earlier episode]] which ended up not having the budget for it.
* Clara's TheReasonYouSuckSpeech regarding the Time Lords [[AndIMustScream putting the Doctor into a personal hell for]] ''[[AndIMustScream four billion years]]'' just so they could get his confession out of him about the Hybrid.
-->''"You're monsters. Here you are, hiding away at the end of time. Do you even know why? Because you are hated. '''You are hated.''' By everybody. [[ItsPersonal But by nobody more than me]]."''
* Understated but touching example: when the first gunship comes to the Dryland to demand the Doctor surrender himself to military custody, ''none'' of the Drylanders budge when ordered to get out of the way. They have no weapons or authority whatsoever, and know that thee Time Lords in the Capitol don't care about their welfare, yet they refuse to leave the line of fire if it means abandoning the Doctor.

[[AC:The Husbands Of River Song]]
* River [[CrazyPrepared made sure to make the diamond transaction on a cruise ship that was doomed to be destroyed by a meteor shower]], which she knew about because she dug up everyone's remains and read a book on it, aptly named "History's Finest Exploding Restaurants: Don't Stay For The Coffee".
-->'''River''': "I'm an archeologist from the future. '''I dug you up'''."
** She made sure that she and the Doctor were standing in the exact spot where they would be protected from the meteor shower. Even better? She made sure it was a ship filled with [[KickTheSonOfABitch some of the universe's worst murderers, cutthroats, and despots]], so that the universe would lose some horrible people and, ''more importantly'', there would be no obligation from either her or the Doctor to save anyone but themselves meaning that they can get down to getting stuff done.
* How the Doctor finally takes down King Hydroflax's robot body. As it is lacking a "proper" head and believes [[OffWithHisHead the Doctor's head is a viable option]], the Doctor goads it into accepting a bank transfer orb, promising it lots of money. When he places it into the empty head slot of Hydroflax, all the firewalls of all of the banks in the galaxy attack and overwhelm its systems, which allows the Doctor to escape.

[[AC: The Return of Doctor Mysterio]]
* The Doctor catches Doctor Sim in a mistake, when the latter states that they will enact the plan "when the time is right." Realizing that it isn't the right time for the plan, he triggers the alien bomb early.
* The Doctor dares Sim to shoot him, Lucy, and Nardole in the back, eliminating his ability to claim he shot them in self defense.
* The Ghost's entrance, effortlessly smashing a window that could withstand "force equivalent to four nuclear bombs", [[ImmuneToBullets walking calmly through Doctor Sim's gunfire]], and then handing Sim his posterior while still remaining true to his ThouShallNotKill mantra.
* Grant catching the alien ship. One handed, no less.
-->'''The Doctor''': "There! On you go. Take a look at him. That's why you don't stand a chance. You wanna know why? [[IAmNotLeftHanded He's actually left handed.]]"\\
'''Grant:''' "[[HeartwarmingMoments Sorry. Instinct. I couldn't let go of this.]]" ''(revealing baby monitor in left hand)''
* Grant defies PowerCorrupts all because of his love of comic books and his desire to live up to the heroic ideals within.
* Living in a major city like New York, Grant is no doubt constantly busy 24/7 with fires, crimes, and all kinds of emergencies-but whenever there's any need, the Ghost will be there. And he has time to be a nanny on the side!

[[AC: The Pilot]]
* Bill standing up the Doctor, and guilting him into keeping her memories, because she "know[s] what a mind wipe looks like".
* Heather follows Bill ''throughout time and space,'' because she [[IGaveMyWord made a promise.]]

[[AC: Smile]]
* The Doctor working out the tragedy that took place at the colony and pre-empting a war between the humans and the Vardy. Though he wasn't able to save ''everyone'', he was able to cut the first battle short and lay the groundwork for peace by acting as a negotiator.

[[AC: Thin Ice]]
* The Doctor punching out Lord Sutcliffe after the latter begins to racially abuse Bill.
* Moving Sutcliffe's explosions so that they free the sea serpent instead of doom the human crowds is another awesome moment for the Doctor.

[[AC: Knock, Knock]]
* Eliza usurping control of the insects from the Landlord is not only impressive in and of itself but also in how quickly she gets a hold of it.

[[AC: Oxygen]]
* The Doctor saves the day tying his and the others' vital signs to the core's stabilizing systems and thus forces the suits' puppeteer to not only back off, but give them extra oxygen. He does this while totally blind in both eyes.

[[AC: Extremis]]
* The Doctor discovers that he and everyone else in the world is a computer simulation, but he can still use his Sonic Sunglasses to email everything he knows to the real Doctor, warning him of the simulation that he and everyone else on Earth was placed in. Facing a Monk, he firmly states that fake or real, he will still be the Doctor, and will do what he does best. The entire speech is one amazing LeaningOnTheFourthWall because of course the Doctor ''isn't'' real, he's a fictional character in a TV show - but that doesn't stop him from doing exactly what the Doctor ''wants'' to do - provide hope and inspiration to real people, and show them all the wonders of time and space.
-->'''The Doctor:''' "Funny. I don't believe much. I'm not sure I believe anything. But right now, belief is all I am. [[ArcWords Virtue is only virtue in extremis.]] I take it that your intention is to invade the Earth?"\\
'''Monk:''' "The simulations have been run. The Earth will be ours."\\

'''The Doctor:''' "There's always one thing you can do from inside a computer. Even if you're a jumped-up little subroutine, you can do it. You can always..." '''Monk:''' "What are you doing?"\\
'''The Doctor:''' "I'm doing what everybody does when the world is in danger. 'm calling the Doctor. '''Pressing send!'''" ''(Activates his Sonic Sunglasses to email the recording, then smiles defiantly at the Monks until the simulation begins to end)''
* A small one for Nardole. He figured out the world was a computer simulation without having to read the Veritas.
* The Doctor gets a group of would-be executioners to flee by telling them to look him up. Their Fatality Index sounds like it is shorting out trying to count how many fatalities the Doctor has caused, alone and unarmed.
* Nardole insists on being a HumanShield for Bill because those were the instructions he received. Then he gives a BadassBoast to Bill about how he's "licensed to kick the Doctor's ass" and will kick hers as well if she doesn't stop interfering with his attempts to keep her safe. This comes complete with TheGlassesComeOff. This gets him respect from Bill: "Are you secretly a badass?"
* The Doctor outwits the Enemies of Life by vowing to guard Missy's body, [[LoopholeAbuse but does not vow to guard a dead one]].

[[AC: The Pyramid at the End of the World]]
* The moment the Doctor shuts down the Monks verbally.
-->'''The Doctor:''' "Planet Earth does not consent to your help, your presence, or your conquest." ''(Imitates game show announcer's voice)'' "Thank you for playing the big pyramid game. Bye, bye. See you again next week, hopefully not."\\
'''Monk:''' "Without our help, Planet Earth is doomed."\\
'''The Doctor:''' "[[BadassBoast Yes? Well, it's been doomed before. Guess what happened? Me!]]"
* There's only a few minutes to find the event which is about to lead to the extinction of life on Earth, and the planet will have to be surrendered to the Monks if the Doctor can't find it with nothing at all to go on. His solution: after narrowing down the likely event to a biochemical plague, he shuts down the cameras everywhere such a process is being done, and then waits to see which one the Monks turn back on first.

[[AC:The Lie of the Land]]
* Bill being key to defeating the Monks, as her memories of her mother overwhelm the Monks' psychic field, freeing the world of their control and forcing them to flee.

[[AC:The Empress of Mars]]
* Godsacre standing up to Iraxxa and being willing to die to save his men after executing Catchlove, redeeming himself for being a deserter.
* The peace between the Ice Warriors and humans is brokered by a member of each race deciding to find a peaceful resolution despite standing alone. Even better, the only role the Doctor plays in this is pointing out a peaceful solution was the best way.
* The show getting Ysanne Churchman back as the voice of Alpha Centurai, at 92 years old and a good four decades since she'd last played the role.

[[AC: The Eaters of Light]]
* The Ninth Roman Legion marching off to SealedEvilInADuel with Kar the Gatekeeper.
-->'''Lucius''': "Ninth Legion, advance!"

%%[[AC: World Enough And Time]]

[[AC: The Doctor Falls]]
* The Doctor is tied to a wheelchair, as the Master and Missy plot his demise. How does he turn the tables? He doesn't; he already altered the Cybermen's programming to, as he put it, "put [Time Lords] on the menu."
* Bill managing to keep her mind after being converted, and survive realising what she's become. That takes a level of will few other characters have ever had.
* Nardole's "Is that windmill important?" demonstration, and the brainstorm of hacking the ship's gas lines that made the trick work.
* The Doctor explains why he does what he does to the Masters.
-->'''The Doctor:''' "I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, because [[ThePowerOfHate I hate someone]], or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's ''right''! Because it's ''decent''! And above all, because it's ''kind''! It's just that...Just kind. If I run away today, good people will die. If I stay and fight, some of them might live. Maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, you know, maybe [[TheAntiNihilist there's no point to any of this at all. But it's the best I can do. ** The speech manages to get through to Missy, who decides that if she's going to die, she's going out with the Doctor - best friends, together, at the end. Unfortunately, she is killed before she can help.
* The Doctor versus a ton of Cybermen, both old and new. The Doctor wins, even if he dies in the process.
** Not only that, but after the entire floor goes down in a big explosion, Bill walks up, the last Cyberman standing. [[OffScreenMomentOfAwesome Meaning that she defeated all the Cybermen that attacked her, and found a way to shield herself before the explosion]].

[[AC: Twice Upon A Time]]
* This special opens with a monochrome clip of the First Doctor giving his speech [[Recap/DoctorWhoS4E2TheTenthPlanet to the Cybermen]] word for word...with the screen changing from the monochrome William Hartnell to the coloured David Bradley during the speech.
** Also this text: '''"709 episodes ago"'''.
* The Doctor returns the Captain to his own time as per the Testimony's wishes... then reveals he altered the time frame by a few hours, so that the Christmas Truce would start just in time to save the Captain's life.
* The Doctors themselves clearly consider the 1914 Christmas Truce to be a combined Awesome and Heartwarming Moment for the human species.

* Courtney kills a spider-germ with disinfectant.

* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Wm62r-uhA com/watch?v=q1IczjLYCIM The spectacularly epic entrance]] [[BigDamnHeroes by Santa, his elves, and Rudolph]].

[[AC:The Magician's Apprentice]]
* Clara getting Missy - who has just vaporized two people and is threatening to kill
trailer]]. A forest, a third one - to ''listen to reason'' and to actually let the frozen planes go, which is hooded figure coming forward, a pretty impressive feat key appearing in itself. Not to mention that this kind and gentle schoolteacher is shown preparing to order UNIT snipers to kill Missy at her command.
* The Doctor's grand entrance to his duel with Bors; riding
a tank, playing the show's theme on a battle axe electric guitar.
* Davros, whilst dying and confined to a life support machine, still manages to steal the spotlight as the episode's BigBad. He verbally challenges the Doctor's morals, using the Doctor's past actions against him,
palm and then reduces the Doctor to a begging mess when Missy and Clara are exterminated.

* The Doctor giving a fourth wall-breaking lesson about the Bootstrap Paradox, using traveling
pulling back in time and becoming Beethoven as an example. He finishes the lecture with an electric guitar riff of the 5th symphony, before a kick-ass electric guitar version of the show's theme (''reportedly played by Capaldi himself!'') plays over the intro.
* The Doctor's badass speech
hood to the Fisher King.

** She messes around with Bonnie's bazooka aim just enough to make her miss with
reveal... the first shot and then delay the second one long enough for the Doctor and Osgood to escape.

-->'''The Doctor:''' "[[BondOneLiner He had a bad day on the market.]]" ''(leaves, returns)'' "[[LampshadeHanging Sorry, I appreciate that wasn't really funny, but I couldn't help saying it.]]"

'''The Doctor:''' "Well, consider this a warning on the eve of war. [[BadassBoast I am the Doctor. I am what stands between you and them.]]"\\
'''Monk:''' "You are not the Doctor. You are not real]]."\\
'''The Doctor:''' ''(Feels his way around the desk to stand in front of the Monk)'' "Oh, you don't have to be real to be the Doctor. [[{{Determinator}} Long as you never give up.]] [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Long as you always trick the bad guys into their own traps. And here's the trap you fell into]]. [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Your simulation, it's far too good.]] ''(Picks up his Sonic Sunglasses and aims it towards the Monk)'' Do you see these? They're set to record. I'm blind, you see, so I'm psychically wired into these, so my memory print of the last few hours will still be intact on here. Information about you!"\\
'''Monk:''' "You are not real. There is nothing you can do."\\
'''The Doctor:''' "There's always one thing you can do from inside a computer. Even if you're a jumped-up little subroutine, you can do it. You can always..." ''(Puts on the Sonic Sunglasses)'' "e-mail!" ''(Presses the Sonic Sunglasses's rim, causing the words "Memory File: Uploading" to appear on his screen)''\\
'''Monk:''' "What are you doing?"\\

-->'''Lucius''': "Ninth Legion, advance!"

So I'm going to do it.]] [[DoomedMoralVictor And I'm going to stand here doing it until it kills me.]] And you're going to die too! Some day...[[ArmorPiercingQuestion And how will that be? Have you thought about it? What would you die for?]] Who I am is where I stand. Where I stand is where I fall."
