The Main Fic

     The Grand Battles
  • To add a little flair to some battles, the author based some battles off of famous real world examples, with some author's notes even noting that they see Jon as a Napoleon type if given the right prompting.
    • The battle of Highgarden. Using Napoleon's famous victory at Austerlitz as an example, Jon feigns weakness to lead an expedition to retake Highgarden, then lures his enemies into a direct attack on the castle in the valley. Then using the mists to take the heights and then crush the entire army underfoot.
      • Of note is how the Golden Company recognizes the bad play being sent into the thick of taking the castle, leaving the heights exposed for Podrick Payne's forces to take the heights and swing the battle.
    • The battle of Last Hearth. A losing engagement, but using the Battle of Guilliford Courthouse as the basis for how the forces of the living can inflict high casualties while preserving their own numbers.
      • In the process, The Hound pulls a Taking You with Me to reignite a trench to cover their retreat.
     Individual Fights
  • Tywin's Trial by Combat. The Mountain VS Tyene Martell. A mighty mountain is nothing against a thousand cuts of a former Sand Snake.
    • That's not to say the Mountain doesn't get a good scare in, grabbing Tyene, and almost Taking You with Me. Thankfully, Tyene managed to plunge her knife straight into Gregor's head, saving her life.
  • The 2nd assassination attempt on the royal family, as a twist of fate and a little premediation from Bran had the faceless men's last great attempt at an offering turn into a brave and awesome fight.
    • Catelyn truly shows how much she intends to live up to her new vow to care for her nephew's family, buying several seconds long enough to delay an assassin....
      • Which gave Podrick and Sansa the opening to take him down.
    • Arya wrestles with a Waif for the second time, then turning to a battle in the dark to ensure that her former organization will never harm her family's empire again.
  • Bran is far from being Broken in this story. While also an oracle of sorts, his time training in Quarth also turned him into a Court Mage which he uses well in the Battle of Winterfell. Utilizing a kind of fire magic to combat the dead, and find ways to score decisive blows on both The Night's Queen AND The Night's King.
    • His Bond One-Liner on the Queen is particularly epic: "Monster! House Stark sends its Regards!"
     Individual Successes
  • By a twist of fate, Robb is given life by one of the Manderlys shoving him down a toilet slide at the cost of their life. He then proceeds to travel, slowly but surely while outrunning bounty hunters, all the way from the riverlands to The Wall and Castle Black to reach safety.
  • Daenerys Targaryen giving Catelyn Stark What the Hell, Hero? speech over her mistreatment of Jon Snow, while in Essos.
  • The implication that Olenna, with only words and reputation, recaptured Highgarden without much bloodshed, showing the emperor that House Tyrell maintains loyalty to their own.
  • Sansa turning a dark situation with Arya being accused of the assassination, into a move to put Littlefinger on trial for all his crimes against the realm.
    • Littlefinger suffering his Karmic Death at the jaws of Jon’s direwolf Ghost.
  • Maester Aemon decides to die for a purpose. And so with the help of Kinvara, he partakes in another Valarian ritual to revive King Jaehaerys.
