• Sasha, and Manny and Roland, have to endure witnessing a lot of unpleasantness and heinous acts performed by the Heavenly Kingdom, but also have to bitterly realize that they are unable to do something to stop it, either due to being too powerless to do anything or having to show restraint in the name of their mission. But when Manny is taken away from him while he is distracted, and he himself is brought into an room meet with the leadership of the local detachment of matyrs, Roland decides that — with the guy who he trusted to do the talking being both no longer there and probably in great danger, and with him being alone and relatively isolated with a group of three men, none of who have any idea just how dangerous he is, and all of who he could easily kill or incapacitate before they would be able to raise any kind of alarm — there is no real point in keeping up the ruse any longer, and decides that he should absolutely take his frustrations out on the men, starting with casually breaking Matyr Ditmar's wrist. Roland's satisfaction at what he is about to do at that moment, probably very much matches the reader's. What makes it even more gratifying is that Roland was genuinely weighing the option to continue to show restraint, but Ditmar just had to make that one more condescending remark about Manny.
