Analysis / Shafted

Go To

In 2002, the Seven Network showed an Australian version of Shafted, which was hosted by Red Symons and ran for 40 half-hour episodes. There were several differences between this version and the original UK version. Six contestants had to bid an amount up to $500 and the highest bidder was eliminated. The remaining five contestants then had to make a bid for how much money they received for every question they got correct in the round (or lost for every wrong answer). The player with the highest amount picked one of four categories available to start the round, and each round had toss-up questions that were open to all the contestants. Once time called during a round, a half-question was asked in the same manner as the UK version, and the highest scorer got to eliminate a contestant. This process was repeated until two contestants remained after which the share or shaft rule was employed.
