Young Justice (2010)

This series does this a lot, in part because characters join the team at different points and can experience Age Lifts relative to each other as a result.

In General

  • Tim/Robin and Conner/Superboy are best friends in the comic, but have no real relationship to speak of here, in part because Conner's already a legal adult when Tim is still a teenager.
  • In the comics, Tim Drake/Robin and Stephanie Brown/Spoiler are an Official Couple; Tim has dated Cassie Sandsmark/Wonder Girl before (first in the Post Flashpoint continuity, then in the New 52), but notably only when Stephanie was supposedly dead or Exiled from Continuity. In this series Tim and Cassie start dating while Tim and Stephanie are simply teammates. Though a brief shot of Stephanie leaning onto Tim at Superboy's and Miss Martian's wedding seems to suggest they may slowly be building a relationship following the previous season having Tim called out for keeping his role in the Anti-Light from Cassie.
  • Similarly, Beast Boy and Terra were dating in the comics, providing plenty of angst material when he realizes that she's The Mole. Again, they're merely teammates here, though interestingly Beast Boy's girlfriend, Perdita, comes off as something between a Suspiciously Similar Substitute and a Good Counterpart for her. Likewise, Deathstroke is now Terra's manipulative mentor, while the comics made them co-villains with a creepy sexual relationship.
  • Artemis and Icicle (the show's Icicle Jr.) were a Battle Couple, later Unholy Matrimony, in the comics as part of Injustice Unlimited and the Injustice Society. Since Artemis is a heroine here, none of that happens, apart from the tie-in comics revealing they were Childhood Friends.

The Outsiders

  • Terra (Princess Tara Markov)
    • Her famous romance with Beast Boy is completely absent here. Neither of them show any kind of interest in each other beyond friendship, and by the time they meet Gar is in a committed relationship with Perdita.
    • Her more infamous sexual relationship with Deathstroke from the comics is also completely absent and is instead shown to be more of a student/teacher bond.

The Light

  • Deathstroke (Slade Wilson) relationship with Terra seems to be more of a teacher/student bond rather than the sexual relationship they conducted in the comics.

Minions of the Light

  • In the comics, Baron Bedlam was the son of the man who managed Markovia for the Nazis. Here, he's a blood relative of the Markovs and an Evil Uncle to Gregor, Geo-Force, and Terra who had their parents (their mother being his sister) murdered.

Other Characters

  • In the comics Serling Roquette was a close friend of Kon-El/Conner Kent's who had a huge crush on him while the show her leaves her without any relationship with the show's version of Conner. She also loses her comic book ties to Project Cadmus and Dubbilex.
