Go To

Picking up at Poni Island, Luna and Lillie get their next destination, Hapu\'s house. At present, we are in a seaport town that seems to house what looks like Jessie and James\' Magikarp submarine from the Orange Islands arc of the anime. Neato.

Anyway, after talking to some people, catching some Pokemon on the Poni Wilds, backtracking to catch all seven Minior colors, and some GTS trading to get Alolan Raichu, Luna continues on to the east, meeting up with Hapu again.

Hapu says that there\'s no Kahuna on Poni Island, which makes me suspicious considering her unique design. Either this is a test of character or she\'s going to fill the position.

Come to think of it, I got the Fling TM event last night and I heard that was Hapu\'s relative that died. Perhaps that explains why there\'s no Kahuna. Odd they\'d bury him on Melemele instead of Poni, though.

After collecting more Zygarde Cores and catching another Wimpod, Luna heads to the Ruins of Hope.

I imagine Junko Enoshima would love it here. (Edit: There is actually an Ace Trainer named Junko nearby here, which is more than a little creepy!)

The goal for today is to find Tapu Fini and have her fix Cosmog with some mystic water. I assume the item I have on Soprano wouldn\'t do the same trick.

A Strength puzzle follows. Yay, I always enjoy these.

Fortunately, it\'s short.

In the next room, Lillie talks about how capricious the Island Guardians are, which a lot of people have noted the whole game. Do the Island Guardians just troll Alolans 24/7 or something?

Hapu seems to be doing fine with Fini, though, seeing as she\'s chosen to be the new Kahuna right in front of us. She opts to tell us to go to Exeggutor Island so we can get the Sun Flute to awaken Solgaleo.

No time for Fini Fun, I guess.

Moving right along, Luna and Lillie take a boat to the island, with Lillie getting menaced by an Exeggutor not long after arriving. It then begins to rain, so the two take shelter in a cave while Lillie talks about good times with her mom before she started making Pika-popscicles.

The rain then abruptly ends. Was a flock of Drizzle Pelippers passing by or something?

Not long afterwards, the Sun Flute is procured and the duo heads back to Poni Island. However, on the way to the canyon, they\'re confronted by a bunch of rappers.

\"Do you really know a way to save our boy Guzma?!\" says one Grunt.

Even in-universe Guzma is a meme...

A battle ensues because the PC is too mute to have a normal conversation without dialogue options being involved.

After beating the Skull Gruntette, the remaining Grunts decide to gang up on Luna li\'l homeslice all at once.

Which means just fighting one Grunt with five Pokemon.

SHIT JUST GOT REAL

After beating the Grunt, Plumeria shows up, apologizes, hands over the Poisonium-Z, and asks us to save ya boi from being evil.

I still want to believe in Guzma... so I suppose I can do that. Also, Plumeria\'s pretty cool, if severely lacking in screentime. Why don\'t Guzma or Gladion ever mention her or share a scene with her?

\"I suppose Team Skull isn\'t all that bad,\" says Lillie.

That\'s what I\'ve been saying since the beginning! It\'s so obvious!

Anyway, upon heading to the Valley, we find Hapu waiting for us. And... it\'s time for a battle? We never even met the captain!

Ah well.

Nefertiti High Jump Kicks Dugtrio and Trop Kicks Gastrodon into submission, Flygon is taken out by Tink\'s Dazzling Gleam, and Mudsdale is wiped out by Soprano.

And after the battle, Carrera evolves!

But now I have to replace Eviolite... Hmm.

Anyway, the rest of the cavern occurs. It\'s a lot of battling, a few lucky Wonder Trades (Mimikyu and Jangmo-o), and a picking up of the Dazzling Gleam TM. Not much to say now that my team is fully evolved and pretty good on moves!

Once we reach the end, Lillie decides to cross a bridge to show how far she\'s come since the start of the game when she couldn\'t.

Murkrow Gang: You look a little lost.

Fortunately, she manages to get away from the birds that show up to rough her up this time. Luna talks the birds into breaking someone else\'s kneecaps and they wander off.

Lillie asks if she did a good job and I say yes to be nice. She then heals my Pokemon. This is why our friendship works, Lillie.

Or mutual exploitation. Whatever this is.

Continuing o- OH WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT\'S NOT THE END

Ugh.

Several Strength puzzles and one million Golbat later...

Mina: Hi, I\'m the Trial Captain. Have my Z-Crystal.

...Okay, not only did you not have a trial, you didn\'t show me the dance.

Come to think of it, Plumeria didn\'t dance either.

You guys are all very bad at this!

TRAINERS INTENSIFY

Also, I pick up Flamethrower and maybe another TM along the way.

It seems to be time for another trial, this time against the Jangmo-o line.

This would probably be menacing if I didn\'t have two Fairies on this team.

As such Tink spends the first turn using Quiver Dance before oneshotting Totem Wamuu and his help with one Dazzling Gleam.

Get rekt, nerds.

And I\'ll take your Z-Crystal while I\'m at it!

Luna and Lillie head to the Altar of the Sunne and play the Song of Awakening, or whatever that\'s supposed to be.

Good thing all kids are taught mystical flute songs from a young age!

Anyway, Nebby is looking decidedly more Aslan-esque all of a sudden.

Instead of battling Nebby to prove ourselves, though, he just straight up takes us to Ultra Space.

I\'m... pretty sure this is the World of Darkness from Kingdom Hearts, Nebby, but whatever.

Nebby has to stay behind at the entrance in case we aren\'t leveled enough to deal with any possible final battles that might occur in this dimension, so Luna and Lillie are on their own.

Next time!

It is, in fact, The World Of Darkness.

Just with more jellyfish creatures.
