Pssh... Nothin' personnel... kid.

Upon arriving in Heahea City, Hau makes a joke... I think. Lillie doesn't think it's funny, though, so I decide to tell Hau that it is.

Kukui then makes an even more horrible joke. You know it's bad because it rhymes.

Also, Nebby is out of Lillie's bag again and... you know, this thing is really bad at staying incognito.

But it's okay, because Olivia is here to divert your attention from that. Mallow is here, too, and speaks about everything like she's cooking, much like Higashizawa from TWEWY.

Anyway, after some extremely awkward waving from Mallow, the both of them leave. Hau wants to go eat and Lillie starts talking about looking into some important ruins. I... honestly have no idea what she's talking about, because I tuned her out the last time she started talking to me.

Fortunately, Luna is a master of smiling and nodding.

Anyway, time to go explore this new city.

An NPC mentions this town was formed by people from Kanto and Johto. And that's about all I can manage to learn before Lillie demands my attention again.

She mentions Tapu Lele, a Guardian Pokemon related to Tapu Koko, and asks us to come hang out with her later. Nebby also continues to be inconspicuous by not being inconspicuous.

I'm sure that won't be detrimental at all when the people in white show up.

But rather than mention them to us, Lillie decides to talk badly about Team Skull.

The sheer audacity.

Luna decides to get some Lemonade from the Center, but is unable to head anywhere else. As she heads up, she runs into, uh...

...Who are these people?

...Oh, right, I recognize that music. These are those two kids who dressed up like superheroes for no reason in XY. Honestly, of all people, they chose them to be in these games? I don't even remember them doing anything important.

Bewildered by their presence, Luna decides to handle this the only way she knows how: by beating up Dexio's Pokemon.

Seemingly masochistic, Dexio rewards Luna with a Zygarde Cube and Sina heals Luna's Pokemon for good measure. Neat, I guess?

After dealing with those guys, Luna heads to check out the Tide Song Hotel. Pretty snazzy, though Lillie has missed her meeting due to shenanigans.

Classic Lillie.

But it's okay, because it's time for Route 4!

After defeating some trainers, Luna finds a Zygarde Core and catches some Pokemon: Buckwheat/Mudbray (M), Vari/Eevee (M), and Rascal/Eevee (M).

Luna's team is pretty beaten up following that, though, so she heads to town to heal up.

"Hey, Luna," intones Hau as he emerges from the shadows, a wicked gleam in his eyes.

Oh no! It is time for a battle! A-and I'm not healed up!

Could it be... an actually difficult rival fight!? Well Hau about that!

"Let me heal up your Pokemon!"

...Oh wait, no, never mind.

Three Psybeams from Hocus later (FINALLY, IT LEARNED AN ATTACK) and his two Pokemon are down.

After the battle, Hau gives me a Dire Hit. Thanks, buddy. I'll be sure to never use this since these items suck.

Hau then says it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game or some other feel good nonsense. Honestly, if the developers of this game believed that, you'd be able to lose to your rivals and still progress the story. (Postgame Edit: Apparently you can! That's pretty cool.)

Anyway, Luna explores and...

"Magmar pulled out a nice, toasty Quick Ball from... somewhere!"

...that... happened.

Progressing to the next route, Mallow gives you a free Stoutland to ride around on to search for items, replacing the Itemfinder. Neat.

Luna's Pokemon start getting winded after some battling, so she sneaks past some menacing Preschoolers to heal up at a Pokemon Center.

As she does, though, she runs into Hau and some guy. Apparently, Hau has lost the battle... and is cheerful about it as always. The guy calls him out on it, even.

He then asks if Luna is Luna, to which she responds "Who?", causing him to compliment her on her cautiousness.

Then his theme music begins playing. It reminds me of Silver. And then he attacks!

Unfortunately, the battle doesn't go too well for him, mainly because he seems to be really focused on his arm for some reason. Weird.

Afterwards, Gladion says something about Hau being too lax for his own good and not something edgy like I was expecting him to. Strange.

Some Team Skull Grunts then show up to remind him that he's a sucka fool tryin' to be cool and that he has to go hard if he wants to get some of their street cred.

Represent.

Anyway, they all leave after that and Hau forks over some Revives.

Now if I could just get to the Pokemon Center in peace...

They made Dexio and Sinia actually pretty rad in these games. I would think twice bout smack-taking them.
