And so the fifth day begins...

...Just like every other day does. At the Ark, where we can talk to Hope or just teleport away to another destination. Business as usual.

This time, I spent much of my time doing sidequests in the Wildlands. Remember the white chocobo that I got? No? Well, the Angel of Valhalla, or as I named it "Cloud" was in need of medicine to completely recover. He could now walk and jump, but he still wasn't fully healed. The reason why you need to have him fully healed is because he will be able to glide and you will reach areas that you couldn't reach on the Wildlands before.

Most of the sidequests weren't very interesting. Most of them very pretty basic, get-things-to-complete-the-quest vanilla RPG stuff, so I'll refrain from talking about them.

Gonna have to go into a tangential topic right here for a sec (I know man, just get used to it). Did you know that they reused a lot of songs from the old games? That is an obvious thing to point out, but sometimes it's quite nice to listen to a tune that you liked a lot in a previous game. I have mentioned that there was a musical nod to XIII-2 on Luxerion, where a man sings the theme of the first area of the game, but funnily enough, the original version of that song also appears in this game. It starts playing at the place where you can find Dr. Gysahl, but the name of the place escapes me and I don't feel like searching for it.

So yeah after healing Cloud, I had two options: I could have gone to Etro's palace-thingy, or visit Sazh. Guess which one I took.

You can find Sazh at the northern part of the map inside a downed airship. Some people around the area will comment that Sazh barely talks to anyone or is outside for long, mostly because of his son, Dahj, who is bedridden for a long time. When we enter the airship, Sazh's new home, we find him slumped sitting on a couch, while his son Dahj lies on top of a bed. Sazh is less than happy about seeing Lightning again. He has become depressed and hopeless about the fate of his son. Talking to him, we find out that he has been sleeping like that for 500 years, which would mean that he has been like that ever since the ending of XIII-2, or at least some time after it.

Sazh explains that Dahj's body is fine, the problem is that he doesn't have a soul anymore. His soul was divided and lost, for some reason, and he has to find all the pieces and put them inside a magical box thing that Lumina gave him. He has been searching for the soul fragments since Dahj entered his coma, but he could not find any. Soon after, Lumina appears and adds a bit of information. Namely, that she is not guilty of anything, as Lightning suspected, and is only trying to help them. Lumina then disappears once again and we are left with a new quest on our hands.

Huh, if Sazh didn't find any after all those years I find it very unlikely that-HOLY FUCKING SHIT THERE IS A FUCKING FRAGMENT RIGHT OUTSIDE HIS FUCKING HOUSE

INSIDE A SPHERE TREASURE THING IT IS RIGHT THERE TWO STEPS AWAY FROM THE FUCKING ENTRANCE OF HIS HOME WTF

Seriously, what the fuck? What is the explanation for this? How come he didn't find it? It was RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF HIM! It's not like these sphere treasures can only be opened by Lightning, because they can be opened by anyone. These things have existed since the XIII days, so everyone knows how to use them. It's not quantum physics, so how come Sazh didn't find that? God-fucking-damnit Square Enix.

The locations of all the fragments are given to you via your quest log. I don't remember if it was Lumina that gives you information about it, but another fragment of Dahj's soul can be found with Chocolina. You can go and talk to her and she will make you do a quest first, but I haven't completed it yet so I can't give any more information about that. One thing to mention is that Lightning does not have any clue as to Chocolina's identity, since she wasn't present for most part in XIII-2. Wonder if that will ever come up again.

I did some experimentation with my equipment trying to create new Schemas. I have a good amount of Gil to buy equipment, but they are expensive as fuck and none of them are really worth it, so I had to use what I had. Fortunately, I had some good equipment with me and was able to mix some equipment and create some powerful Schemas. It can take some time getting used to using new Schemas, as they might not necessarily have the same abilities that your other Schemas. But the most important part of it all was that I made Lightning wear a moustache on one outfit and use an afro on another.

That was pretty much the highlight of the day. For the most part, I spent most of my time walking around and doing sidequests. It was here that I learned to abuse the Teleport ability, which is very handy when you simply can't afford to waste time.

By the end of the day I was going towards the shrine of Etro that I mentioned earlier, but unfortunately the day ended and I had to return to the Ark. And even though I did many sidequests, it still wasn't enought to extend the world's time yet.

Actually, yes, that soul fragment would only show up around the savior - he couldn't see it no matter what, even that close :P
