Not another theory about Ash's dad!!! (OI is boring)

day 336 tropical nurse joy tells them about second gym {ep92} day 337 second badge {ep93}

If the giant magikarp that nurse joy cares for ever evolves—- the world is not ready. Meanwhile concerning the 2nd gym, there's snow on a mountain that's located on an island in a southern tropical climate... do Abomasnow live there or something? b/c otherwise... NATURE SHENANAGINS. Also according to the Internet, early cells from the anime show that this episode had been in production since '96 even b4 the first ep.

(2013) Oh and Misty's all OMG Bishie hawtness, over the gym leader and Ash is jealous... to reiterate Pokéshipping, excusing Tracey, is like the reason OI exists the culmination of that bring m2 of course.

day 339 ash catches a snorlax {ep94}

Hooray, snorlax is funny and jigglypuff saves the day! 95 gives us some back story on the league, but is otherwise pointless. 96 is a meowth centric TR episode, all of the feels you guys, great episode. (2013) Interesting little trilogy here. 94 is actually plot important, unexpected but welcome, 95 is bad filler, sadly expected by now, and 96 is good fill— GIVE ME ALL OF THAT SHIT! <ahem> next ep.

day 344 tracey catches scyther {ep97-98} day 348 ash meets Lorelei (kanto elite four member 2/4) {ep99}

Hey look, Tracey's only cool/slightly useful Pokémon. Silly scyther, you can't intimidate charizard. It's weird seeing Jessie's hair short, good thing it can grow back offscreen. Random observation, I’m getting pedo-crush vibes off Lorelei towards Ash, but can't figure out who Misty is more jealous of in light of that situation. (2013) I stand by my observation, too bad Lor like all el4 mems beside Lance and Cythia only show up once, if at all.

100 is another ship-tease episode, for Ash/Misty. Great stuff if you're into that, but as we all know YMMW. 101+102 are really really retarded filler wherein Ash is a cowboy herder of magnemites... never mind that they can just float away, and they go sewer exploring to find a fake monster.

day 357 third badge {ep103}

That's right gym leader rich-boy! Misty sticks by her man! Oh and squirtle learns hydro pump. 104 is the first of Pikachu+Meowth have to work together to get back to their friends episodes, and it's opening scene is most likely the funniest use of pitfalls and trap holes in the entire show. (Yep, still defintely the funniest)

day 359 charizard stops being a dick after ash saves his life... again {ep105}

Yeah that's right you prick dragon. You didn't listen to Ash... SUFFER! Oh wait, we're supposed to feel sympathy b/c he finally trusts Ash? But all that happened was a recreation of how Ash found him when he was a charmander. What did he have amnesia, and needed to be reminded of how good he has it?

(2013) Can't believe this got to me when I was a kid. Disclaimer: yes this episode is well-executed and saddening and not bad at all, but yeah... 25 episodes ago, you're gonna have to do a lot to make up for that Char. Thankfully you eventually do.

day 362 squirtle the firefighter part 1 {ep106}

That's right Squirtle, put out that fire, nothing should burn brighter than your monly spirit. Nice way to foreshadow Squirtle's departure next season. Compar this to bulb+char which really come outta nowhere. 107 is boring+pointless, skip. Also that firefighter is voiced by Dan Green.

day 364 fourth badge/first double battle ever {ep108}

3 years and 3 months before Ruby+Saphire came out in Japan if I did my math right. Nice Char+Pika team up. Also the gym leader confuses Ash with her son, this is like the 3rd time this has happened to him, and then if you add in Ash's clone- I mean Ritchie... man whoever Ash's dad really is, he just might be a man-whore. 109 is a Tracey focus episode, watch only if you like the guy.

(2013) This of course is assuming that Ash's dad is just some no-name unimportant trainer, which although most likely to be canon (as its the safest) is still the most boring Better theories include the fan-favorite one of Giovanni, for the Darth Vaderish undertones (which in my saner fan mode I roll with), Pr. Oak, although I ship Oak x Delia, Eldershipping, I prefer it as a second romance deal so no go for me.

Stranger theories include Lugia, due to Ash being m2's prophesized Chosen One, of course even accounting for the fact that he is the Pokémessiah that prophecy was Dub Text so he's really the Unchosen One. Now that I've made referrence to his true calling however I must switch possible Poképarentage from Lugia to Arceus, which yeah in my less sane fane mode I roll with, due to pretentous Jesus symbolism.

My ultimate favorite theory however, is one I'm pretty sure I came up with, or at least am the only that takes it seriously. The identity of Ash's dad is in fact Son Goku from Dragonball. You see, Goku didn't have 2 sons, oh no he had 5. Not only did he bump uglies with Delia before returning to Earth after Namek blew up, The creation of Dragonball GT fractured dimensions so much that, Goku changed his identity to Dragon, making Monkey D. Luffy Ash's long lost half brother (Incidentally Garp and Grandpa Gohan are the same person per this theory) Finally, at some indeterminate time Goku had one last illict liason with Sailor Moon, to avoid troubling their spouses with their drunken mistake the child was quietly fostered off to two newly wedded ninjas, and thus came into the world one Naruto Uzumaki.

If you're still reading, allow me to briefly explain. Out of all of Shonen-dom, Ash is the absolute pinnacle. He has risen beyond the term generic to instead become the standard to determine how innately shonen a character is before (hopefully) adding in their own character traits, tics, and techniques. He's clueless but compassionate, dumb but foolhardy, and if nothing else he'll never give up. The superhuman endurance major appetate, unkempt black hair, and shiny gold power {m9} all of these things can be explained by the Goku factor. Luffy came in because honestly on a basic character/plot level (and I mean really basic) it's uncanny how similar Pokémon and One Piece's protagonists are. Let me repeat myself He's clueless but compassionate, dumb but foolhardy, and if nothing else he'll never give up. The superhuman endurance major appetate, unkempt black hair, want to be the best in their field, not to mention they've both got really epic hats. I mean sure Luffy actually develops as a character, and is definitely hiding a brain in there somewhere but even so. As for Naruto, I've been proclaiming Naruto's parentage by Goku and Usagi/Serenity/Serena since back during the Chunin exams when he beat down Gaara and he said friendship and Gaara went ok....

What were we supposed to be talking about? Oh right Pokémon. Funny I mentioned Lugia before.

Next time... "I saved the world! And all I got was this lousy trophy?! Actually, THAT'S AWESOME! Look Misty I got a trophy!" or "Hero one day, winner the next, loser soon after forever" movie#2 + Eps 110-116

I love that theory. It explains so much.

Why is it whenever Pokemon is mentioned, someone brings up Sailor Moon? Not that I don't love that series(I do), but it's weird since one is totally shonen and the other utterly shojo...
