Chapter 40: The Wheel Weaves

Galad corners Nynaeve, but all he wants is to find a ship for them as well, to get to Caemlyn. He also reminds her where the Blues are meeting, in Salidar. Uno reveals that he can bring fifteen more of Mesima’s men along, but Nynaeve still prefers going by boat. Elayne and Birgitte are upset with her not telling them what she was doing, and then she has to suffer through the archery act.

I have a feeling we’re supposed to see Nynaeve’s terror at being Birgitte’s target as a proper comeuppance for her arrogance, and it really doesn’t sit well with me. This is probably the clearest case yet of why these books get accused of being sexist. On the plus side, Galad is rescued a bit from the Character Derailment he seemed to be suffering.
