I am the next one to go. Unlike Adam I have both of their well-being in mind. I was friends with them both and conveniently I work in the advertising industry as well.
Last night was a little weird...
Like Adam I noticed them fighting right away. But I let it slide for them moment and just knock before the fight can get any worse. I had hoped that they would admit it quickly but I'm not exactly equipped to deal with psychology.
At the door Trip seemed thrilled to see me. I say "Hey dude." He chuckles and responded with a hearty
"Yeah hi! Wow it's really really great to see you! So come on in."
As soon as I do Grace sprinted to the main room her voice echoing "No no! Here we are!"
"Hey Grace" I replied. She gave a quick little
"Aww..." and then we were on our way to talk about work. Or at least we would have been had the phone not rang. Trip was quite eager to answer it but Grace insisted it would be too rude when they were having company. So I took it upon myself to answer.
"Grace hello?" I didn't recognize the voice but I correctly judged that it was her father by the older man's loud voice and New England accent.
"Who is this? Grace is that you?" I didn't actually say anything which makes it all the weirder. I tried to silently motion to Grace and whisper that it was for her but she just said her dad was annoying.
"Okay he's being annoying as usual just hang it up." I did as I they told me, I didn't want the arguing to get too bad that night. But that was a lost cause as Trip said almost the second they finished that conversation.
"Oh...Brian this isn't much fun for you is it?"
Grace stared a little sadly at her husband and said "What? Listen to us were arguing in front of our friend."
"Disagreeing were not disagreeing." Trip butted in quickly obviously trying to cover the awkwardness of this moment.
I answered their concern with a simple suggestion, "You two need help."
"Wait...Grace replied. You think we should get therapy?" After I answer yes Trip chuckled and said I was really joking around tonight. I wanted desperately to help them so I told him not to lie to me.
What happened next is a little creepy. Trip just stared at me for a while. Till the end of the visit! The only thing moving was his mouth, constantly switching from a smile to a frown. Grace was at least locked into a permanent frown but they just wouldn't stop staring! It is almost like they were frozen or something!
Slowly but surely I made my way out of their room and into the elevator. Nobody stopped me and they just continued to stare not moving a muscle.
These two are weird! I can't help them. They might just freeze up on you! The only reason I know there not still doing that is because I hear another one of us got a message later to come over.
Tell me how it goes. But like Adam I couldn't do it.
