After much leering and tail-whipping, plus some tackles, Snivy goes down, with Susano barely still standing. Anticlimatic, I know, but early-game battles aren't usually exciting.
Susano: Hah... -pant- Take that... -gasp- I'm the best sidekick ever... -wheeze-
Butz:' How could you put my precious Snivy through so much pain?! Meanie!
Lina: ...Isn't that the point? :/
Butz: Aagh... Whatever! Just take good care of yours! -runs off-
Bianca: Oooh, you and Susano go great together! But we need to get you healed up! Then I can show you the Pokemon Center!
Lina: I think I can figure that out on my-
Pokemon Center
Lina: ...Own.
Bianca promptly shows Lina every detail of the Pokemon Center. EVERY. Detail.
Bianca: Ooh, and I think this one has new carpeting, not sure, they tend to not replace it very often...
Lina: ...Can we get back to whatever you wanted me to do?
Bianca: Oh! Yes! Follow me!
They head outside, where they are greeted by Mom and Butz's sister.
Mom: Hiiiii! Ooh, you got an Oshawott? That means you're all ready to go! And I can free up the house for parties! Oh wait, take these Running Shoes!
Lina is given the Running Shoes, which means she no longer has to walk at a snail's pace.
Butz's Sister: Take these Town Maps, too!
Lina: Why do I need two?
Butz's Sister: One is for my brother...
Lina: ...Oh. >_>
Bianca: Then we better find him! Let's go!
She charges off to Route 19, with Lina following.

At this point, Bianca launches into a long demonstration of catching a Purrloin with a Lilipup, which is too boring for me to describe thoroughly. It probably traumatized the Purrloin for life, though.
Gino: Poor kitty, nyan...
Bianca: Oh, here are 10 Pokeballs!
Lina: Thanks...
Bianca: Now, time for you to go on your own... Good luck!
She heads off, and our bold heroine Lina wanders into the grass to catch a Purrloin for herself...
Susano: Eheh... I got kinda carried away there?
Lina: >:|
Susano: Eeep. ._.
Fortunately, the second attempt was more successful, resulting in the capture of a Purrloin named Felis.
Susano: Hi there! I'm the loyal sidekick!
Felis: ...You're satisfied with being a sidekick?
Susano: Well, I can always be promoted to hero! Just like in issue 15 of...
