Well, who knows. Maybe this'll all work out. The tough bit's not on until tomorrow, at least...
Yu walked into room 2-2, now covered in red and pink decorations.
Well, for a Group Date Cafe, I guess it all works.
Yu, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko and the male class rep stood still for a long while.
... No one is stopping by.
"C-come in for a first-hand experience with group dating..."
You couldn't sound more disgusted, Yukiko.
Yukiko sighed.
"Ooh... This is so embarrassing... And there's not many people passing by here in the first place..."
The class rep shrugged his shoulders.
"I guess we need some shills to drum up interest."
"Shills...? Uh, who?"
Use your brain, Yosuke.
The rep continued.
"Who else is here besides us?"
"I-isn't that kinda sad?"
"Do we have a choice? We need customers to get the ball rolling. If there aren't many people passing by, we have to get attention of the ones who are by any means nessacary."
Yosuke acted a bit perturbed.
"But there's only five of us here..."
At that exact moment, Kanji walked into the room...
"Yo, how's it going? I came to check up on you... Guys?"

Chie's eyes shined.
"Perfect timing!"
"But now we've got four guys and two girls."
"Eh, you guys are cross-dressing tomorrow anyways. One of you can sit on the girls' side."
... I'm not sure it's worth it to give him a lecture about that non-logic at this point.
Yosuke give a reactionary
"What!? I'm not gonna-"

Yu walked over to the far end of the table.
The class rep and Yosuke both looked on in shock.
"Oh... You're volunteering...?"
"You never run out of surprises, man."
Everyone sat down in pairs- Kanji and Chie, Yosuke and Yukiko, and Yu and the class rep.
Everyone sat in awkward silence for a bit.
"Uhh... You guys can start now."

The air remained silent.
"...... Will someone please start?..."
... Well, time for some role playing.
Yu tried to raise the pitch of his voice...
"What kind of girl do you like?"
Yosuke visibly tensed.
"Man... He's really getting into this..." Kanji turned to Yosuke...
"Actually... What the hell is this?"
"A mock group date.."
Kanji's eyes widened in fear and shock.
"Um, should I lead off? I-I guess I'd like a cute girl... Heh..."
... Wow, both awkward and creepy.
Yosuke decided to respond...
"W-well, for me, um... I guess, as girl that's kinda and sorta fragile, you know? Someone I'd want to protect... Uh, man, this is... Um, yeah... H-hey, your turn, Kanji..."
''That's... Pretty much what I'd expect from Yosuke."
"Uh, well, I... I-I guess someone who's kinda mysterious, and looks strong but's actually kinda..."
"... Yeah, I really wonder who you're talking about."

The class rep spoke up again...
"O-okay, out of the three of us here... Wh-who would you date?"

"Hey... I object to this line of questioning!"
"Oh, don't worry, Yosuke-san... Alright, let's start with you, Chie-san."

"Huh!? Wait, um..."
Chie laughed awkwardly...
"Uhhhh, well, uh...
Chie looked over to you, her eyes pleading...
"So, Yukiko, what about you?"
"M-me!? U-um, who would I choose to date...? Well... Th-that's private..."
"Isn't it!?"
Chie winked at Yu in thanks.
Yukiko got her breath under control and spoke again...
"Okay... Your turn. Who would you want to date?"
... Well, this is still a simulation, right?
Yu put up his falsetto and spoke shyly.
"K-Kanji-kun..."
"Whoa... W-way to go, Kanji! I mean, isn't he a perfect match for you?"
"Oh, definitely... NOT, you son of a...! I ain't kidding here... If you don't stop bringing that up, I ain't holding myself responsible. You got it?"
... Were you trying to be supportive or mocking, Yosuke? I can't tell with you sometimes.
"Th-there, there, it's because you're so manly! Even guys can get behind that!"
Kanji seemed to calm down a bit at that.
"Well, I am pretty confident that I ain't gonna lose to anyone when it comes to manliness!"
The silence eventually returned and lingered.
Rise had apparently had the same idea as Kanji and walked in the door-
"Senpai, how're you doi- ... Uhhhh..."
Rise laughed awkwardly...
"W-well, seeya!"
-And rushed away.
Yosuke shook his head.
"Mark it. The group date cafe is officially a failure..."
Yu decided to walk around the school a bit before heading home. Kou and Daisuke met up with him at a hallway exhibit.
"Wow, this class is exhibiting a collection of local artifacts. I wish ours was doing something this cool... We're doing a freakin' play, man! What's up with that!?"
Theater can be pretty cool, too, Kou. Then again, school show...
"It's too late to complain, Piglet."
Geez, Daisuke!
"It's not Piglet! It's Hamlet! How'd I get stuck with that role, anyway...!? And who the hell came up with this play!? 'Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet'... Dude, THEY ALL DIE!"
"... Chill out, dude. Tomorrow's gonna be way more exciting, right Yu?"

Kou kept the beat going-
"For sure! I'm gonna be rooting for you in that beauty contest!"
"Remember, Yu!First place or bust!"

Ayane me up with Yu a bit after that. Yu noticed that one of the first year classes had set up a haunted house...
"No, no, no, no! Y-you go ahead, Senpai! I-I'm not used to these... A-ahh, I'm starting to sweat."
Yu nodded politely and made for the entrance. "S-Senpai, wait! D-dont leave me all alone!"
The Sun caught up quickly...
"O-oh, I know, I-I'll just clopse my eyes."
Not long after that, however, Ayane tripped and fell.
"Ahh! W-what's this I'm on top of? Ohh! I-I'm sorry, Senpai!!"

The pair left the converted classroom not long after...
"I-I'm sorry for the trouble, Senpai... But thanks to you, I wasn't as scared as I usually am..."

Ai grabbed Yu not long after that and dragged him along with her. She spotted a strange, blue booth...
"... The Long-Nosed Fortune Teller...?"

Ai looked a little baffled and a little haughty.
"Oh come on. Who'd believe crap like this?"

Suddenly, a familiar-sounding woman's voice chuckled from inside the booth.
"You're a confident one..."
"Hm... Maybe you are pretty good... You wanna challenge me? I bet you can't win!"
"Overestimating your competence will only work against you, miss..."
"Hmph, I'll take that as your acceptance! I challenge you to read one fortune, with no time limit! If I win, which I will, I'm going to destroy this stand!"

"The subject of this little contest is... Yu's relationship with girls!"
The voice laughed again.
"If that's the case, I most certainly have the advantage."

"Why're you guys just standing there? Come on, hurry up and sit down."
"C'mon, Kanji-kun. Over here!"
The Team had come together in 2-2.
Even Teddie...
Yukiko smiled gently at Yu, who had drawn her straw earlier.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you."
Teddie smiled broadly.
"... What about me? I turns out, I'm entering this too. I must win this contest to see my dream realized!"
Yosuke laughed a bit.
"He seemed bored, so we signed him up as a last-minute contestant."
"So you're making him suffer too, huh...? Well, if he's been signed up, there's nothing we can do about it."
Chie turned from her partner, Yosuke, and to Naoto.
"Naoto-kun, can you give us a hand? We'll leave Teddie to you."
"M-me?"
"The Naoto-Teddie Team's unstoppable!"
"Well then, um..."
Naoto fidgeted nervously.
"First, I need some dazzling makeup!"
''Geez, Teddie."
"Y-you're right. Then I'll go borrow a makeup kit from someone..."
Naoto ran off, as quickly as she could. Teddie ran after, shouting-
"Wait! The battle begins by choosing the right equipment!"
Chie's eyes seemed to almost glow.
"Ooh, we gotta use fake eyelashes, right?"
"Y-yeah, bring it on!"
Good job trying, Yosuke.
... We're doomed.
Yu stood the back stage, along with Yosuke and Kanji. The MC started announcing-
"Ladies and gentlemen! We now begin the second day of the Culture Festival with the ever-popular 'Miss' Yasogami Pageant! Let's get right down to it and introduce our first contestant! She's a runaway express train who's Inaba born and bred, and can kill with both her fists and her looks! Presenting Kanji-chan of the first-year Class 3!"
"... 'Sup!"
Poor Kanji.
Yu could overhear the crowd's shock at Kanji's Marilyn outfit...
The MC kept his schtick going.
"Now, don't rip me apart for asking, but... What would you say is your best feature?"
"... My eyes?"
"Whoa! A conventional answer from this all-too-unconventional beauty! After such a strong start, I don't know how much of a chance the others have, but here's our second contestant! An eloquent heiress of the noble Junes, she's pure disappointment from the moment she opens her mouth! Presenting Yosuke-chan of the second-year Class 2!"
"H-Hi!"

Yu once again heard disgusted cries at Yosuke's schoolgirl look.
"Now, you look ready to win in that outfit... Do you often dress like this?"
"Hell no! Uh... Ah mean, like, no way!"
... I don't remember him settling on the kogal thing, though.
Kanji was incensed.
"What is with this? We're laughing stocks up here!"
Yosuke's head drooped.
"What did you think this was about...?"
"I've already had about enough of this, but there's still more to come! Up next, our third contestant! She has the mildly bitter tang of the city, and she's made more girls cry than there are stars in the sky! Presenting our transfer student who's been breaking hearts in the second-year Class 2, Yu-chan!"

Yu walked himself out to the stage...
I shouldn't have let Yukiko talk me into the gang leader look...
A number of girls seemed to almost sob at the sight of Yu...
"Seems like your entrance is causing quite a stir! Did you sign yourself up?"

Yosuke drooped even more.
"Damn that Kashiwagi... How dare she tear our innocence away like this! Now I'm scarred for life, dammit!"
"Our last contestant is a random, unaffiliated entrant! She's a friend of the other 'beauties'!"

"Calling herself 'King of the TV World', she's a cute, sexy little number! Give a warm welcome o Teddie-chan!"

Teddie came skipping onstage in an Alice dress, seemingly sparking in the light. He spun and curtsied.
"Gimme your hearts!"
Right now, Teddie... I wish you'd just die. For me.
The crowd couldn't believe Teddie's charm...
The votes were cast and collected...
"And the winner of this year's 'Miss' Yasogami Pageant is... The random contestant who won everyone's hearts, Ms. Teddie! As our champion, Ms. Teddie will receive a very special prize... Later this afternoon, we will be hosting the Miss Yasogami Pageant, with actual beauties this time! Your reward is a position as an honorary judge in that pageant!"
Teddie started jumping with joy.
"Woohoo!"
Yosuke sighed.
"A-an honorary judge...? That's one lame prize for what you gotta go through..."
Yu saw the girls of the Team talking with each other in the front row. They seemed a little amused...
"Well then, Ms. Teddie, how does it feel to have won the pageant and become a judge?"
Teddie laughed a little to himself.
"... The long-awaited day has finally come! I decree that one of the judging criteria later this afternoon will be... Tadaaaaa! A swimsuit competition!"
Naoto, Chie, and Yukiko went white, the later two almost immediately started scowling. Rise remained basically the same.
About what I expected...
Yu stood guard outside the room being used for changing for the Beauty Pageant. A girl brought swimsuits in a Junes bag for the members of the Team. He heard Kashiwagi give a terrible laugh at one point...
Yu desperately tried to scrub the memory of Hanako and Kashiwagi's personal bits during the pageant.
I'm a little impressed with the girls for just wearing their street clothes...
"And now, our next contestant, from second-year Class 2, Ms. Chie Satonaka!"
Chie walked onstage...
"H-hi, I'm Chie Satonaka."
"Tell us a little bit about yourself!"
Chie shuffled her feet a bit awkwardly.
"U-um, I'm kind of shy and reserved... And my favorite food is... Pudding."
Unless it's steak flavored, I doubt it.
"Thank you very much! Up next, another contestant from Class 2, Ms. Yukiko Amagi!"
Yukiko walked, somewhat unsure of herself, to the stage's center.
"H-hello, my name is Yukiko Amagi. Um, my family runs the Amagi Inn. If you ever find yourself in the area, please give us a visit. Our hot springs are open to the public year-round, so whenever your in the mood to enjoy them, please drop by..."
''I know she doesn't like talking about herself much, so... Good job, I suppose."
"Alright, that'll do nicely! Next up, a very familiar face- From the first-year Class 2, Ms. Rise Kujikawa!"
Rise walked onstage and started waving with both hands outstretched.
"Hi-hi! My name's Rise Kujikawa! I haven't been ion town very long, but it's a great place and I'm 100% thrilled to be here! So sorry that I'm not working as an idol right now! Risette's gonna do her best, so I hope you'll all cheer for me!"
"The real Risette, ladies and gentlemen, in the flesh! Thank you very much!"
Geez, the MC is a creep.
"Next is the mysterious transfer student of the first-year's Class 1, Ms. Naoto Shirogane!"
"Hey Kanji... Here she comes..."
Kanji elbowed Yosuke.
"Shh! Pipe down!"
Naoto walked onstage in her signature jacket, but missing her hat.
"... I-I'm Naoto Shirogane. I-it's hard to believe... I'm up on a stage at a pageant like this... This is beyond my wildest imaginings... I-I really don't know what to say... C-can I step back now...?"
"Wh-whoa..."
Kanji... You're looking almost as red as Naoto.
"Now that we've seen all six of these uniquely beautiful women onstage, it's time for judging! Now, let's have our special judge, Mr. Teddie, ask them some questions."

Teddie walked onstage...
"Ehem. I am Teddie, the honorary judge for this pageant. Please keep in mind that if you anger me, you will be at a disadvantage..."
The Team girls all seemed awkwardly stunned.
"Well, Ms. Chie. Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Wha-!? T-Teddie, you...!"
"Ms. Yukiko, have you ever smooched anyone before?"

"Ms. Naoto, where are you ticklish?"
"I-I beg your pardon?"

The MC cut Teddie off.
"A-anyways, I have a surprise announcement for you all! Wait 'til you hear this! For the first time ever, his year's pageant will feature a swimsuit competition! And it's all thanks to Mr. Teddie here! We'll be starting in just a few minutes!"
... Hanako in a bikini is truly quite a sight. Not a good one, by any means, though.
Chie walked to center stage...
It's that tank and shorts suit from the campout... Huh.
Chie laughed awkwardly...

Kanji elbowed Yosuke again.
"You sound like a dirty old man... Chie-senpai is cute, though..."
Yukiko was announced and walked onstage, blushing furiously.

"Wow, Yukiko-senpai... She's exactly how I imagined she'd be..."

The MC called for Naoto...
"... Huh? Ms. Naoto? She's not coming out..."
The MC walked backstage and returned not long after...
"Well, sad news, everyone, but Msd. Naoto won't be coming out for this portion."
Kashiwagi smirked.
"Fine by me! The fewer rivals I have to crush, the better."
Yosuke shrugged.
"Oh well, I had a feeling that would happen... oo bad, Kanji."
"Huh? No, um... Well, yeah... But don't you think it was brave of her to at least show up for the first round?"
Yu nodded.
"Knowing how shy she is, yeah."
Yosuke turned to the Fool.
"Well, it's about time we voted... Who're you going for?"
... Geez.
"... Rise."
"A class act all the way. An idol's idol!"
The votes were taken, and...
"Thanks for waiting. everyone. The results are in! Looking at the way the vote went... You guys out there in the audience had a hard time picking a favorite! Lots of different opinions, with every one of our contestants having their own enthusiastic supporters! On the other hand, it looks like you girls were all thinking the same thing! And so there's a clear winner... Grand prize goes to...! Ms. Naoto Shirogane!"
Big shock.
"Her androgynous charm seems to have one most of the girls' hearts. We'd like to present Ms. Naoto with her award now, but... It looks like she stepped outside."
Chie seemed a little shocked.
"She won even though she dropped out of the last part... Heh, that's pretty funny."
Rise smiled magnanimously.
"Man, losing to Naoto... Well, I guess I didn't appeal to the girls that much. Oh well! I think it's enough that we beat those two hands down, Senpai!"
Yu could hear Kashiwagi and Hanako growl back and forth to each other, but couldn't quite make out what they were saying, especially not once Hanako started crying.
The Team gathered together to spend the rest of the day walking around the school during the festival. They started with buying fortunes when they overheard the Dojimas walking towards them-
"Oh, Big Bro!"
"Ah, good thing we found you."
"Hmm? What's up?"
Dojima seemed vaguely downtrodden.
"I've got to make a business trip to he prefectural office, and I won't be back until tomorrow. Shame it had to fall during your school's Culture Festival. Nanako and I were both looking forward to it... Sorry to dump this on you, but could you show Nanako around?"
Yukiko smiled at Nanako.
"Would you like to walk around with us, Nanako-chan?"
"Can I?"
"Of course, Nanako."
Dojima nodded.
"Thanks. Then I'm gonna get going."
Yu and Nanako both called out to him-
"Have a safe trip."
"Yeah. You have fun too, Nanako."
"Okay, Dad!"
Yukiko spoke up again as Dojima left.
"Hey Nanako-chan, why don't you come over and stay at my place tonight?"
Teddie's eyes went wide.
"Huh? Huh? Huh? What did you just say, Yuki-chan!?"
"Oooh, a celebration at your inn!?"
Rise seemed excited.
Kanji's eyes widened.
"Is that okay with you!?"
"Uh-huh. I promised you guys a while ago, so yeah."
"Hell yeah! I'm down!"
Oh course you are, Yosuke.
"Oh, can I boil eggs in the hot springs!?"
"Oh, I should call my Grampa and let him know! It's just one night, right?"
"C'mon, Nanako-chan. It'll be fun. Everyone will be there."
Nanako turned up to her cousin...
"Can I...?"
"She's offering, so it'd be a little impolite to decline, right?"
Nanako giggled happily.
"Let's go! I wanna spend the night!"
"Wheee! Hot springs! Yukata! Flushed skins!"

"Are you sure it's okay...? I mean, isn't it still the busy season?"
Yukiko turned her head to Chie.
"We've had fewer visitors this year... There are some open rooms, too."
"Oh, okay... Might as well, then! Man, when was the last time I stayed at Yukiko's place?"
Everyone cheered and celebrated...
Yu, Yosuke, Kanji and Teddie seated themselves around the table in their room at the Amagi Inn. They had all changed into traditional blue kimonos...
Teddie seemed crestfallen.
"Aww... We're in different rooms..."
"Well, of course."
It's typical, especially with you and Yosuke around.
"It's one thing if they were next door, but they're so far away..."
Yosuke nodded a little bit.
"Yukiko said there weren't that many open rooms, so they're up on another floor. First thing they're gonna do is take Nanako tom the hot springs."
"I-is it one of those 'girls and guys together' springs!?"
"No. There's different times set aside for men and women."
How did you ever finger out this stuff?
"I don't wanna take more'n one bath if I don't have to. Why don't we take a dip before we hit the sack?"
"Yeah."
Kanji glanced around...
"By the way... 'Sup with this room? It looks pretty expensive..."
Looking around... It's awful nice, even for a traditional inn...
Yosuke agreed-
"Oh, you thought so too? Normally a room like this wouldn't be open during the busy season... I was trying not to think about it, but... You don't think something happened here, do you?"
... So, that reporter might've been here... And thrown into that TV just a few feet away...
"Senpai...? What're you all... Quiet about?"
"Now that you mention it..."
The phone suddenly started ringing, giving everyone a jump.
"G-geez, that freaked me out! Y-you answer it, Kanji!"
Don't boss him around, Yosuke.
"Wh-what're you freaking out for...?"
The Emperor got up and answered the phone, his hands trembling...
"Hello?... Oh, I see! Cool, thanks!"
With that, Kanji hung up.
"That was the front desk. Said the hot springs should be pretty empty right now."
"Wow, Amagi Inn, great service... I broke out in a cold sweat..."
Can't blame them for context, though.
"Well, let's get going, then. First, we gotta wash up."
Yosuke and Kanji left first, Teddie and Yu staying behind for a moment.
"I can't wait to take a bath with everyone. We'll all face the same way and wash each other's backs, and we're gonna sing songs while looking at Mount Fuji, right?"
"... That's a bath house."
"... Man, everything on this side is so fun. It's all thanks to you for bringing people over to my side. Thank you, Sensei..."
The pair of them got up. Teddie ran off to the elevator, as an eighth Star card appeared before Yu...
Where are they getting all these washbuckets!?
Yu Teddie had cannonballed into the water and startled the girls, who were still in the water.
As leader, there's only one reasonable call to make-
"Retreat! Now!"
The guys backed away, shouting as they defended their innocence...
The guys retreated to their room to rest and recover... And hide.
"I checked the time again. It was definitely the men's hour..."
Yosuke whimpered.
"They're so evil... Evil, I tell you..."
"I dunno why, but my head's all bumpy..."
"Those're lumps from the pails whacking you in the head. You got lumps, Ted. Ha..."
Kanji, you seem a little... Funny. I'm feelin' kinda funny, too, come to think of it. Very mild concussion, maybe? Or just adrenaline from the escape?
"Hey... Guys...? Did you, uh... See anything?"
Kanji sighed.
"No..."
"None whatsoever."
"... Not really."
Naoto stopped holding her hand over her chest, and I think someone else fixed her towel. The rumors were false.
Yosuke sighed.
"Dammit... I lead a cursed life... Let's just go to bed..."
"...Hold it, Senpai. Do you... Hear something?"
A booming sound crashed through the room..
... Man, I'm feeling really weird now. That sure as hell didn't help...
Teddie started panicking...
"I-I heard it too!"
"D-don' tell me... Is there one here...?"
Yosuke started freaking out a little too...
"'One here'? O-one what...? Dude, what are you talking about? Ha..."
"This room... It's the one that announcer was staying in before she died! My mom was talking about it!"
The sound wailed again...
"Oh god, you said it! I was trying to block it out, and you had to go and say it, Kanji!"

Ugh... What the heck did I do last night? Teddie put his suit back on, we left the room... I think something about Kashiwagi and Hanako or something? Man, what the hell could it have been...
Yu got on the bus to the hill overlooking town...
"Mister, you're the bad guy!"
"No, he's playing house with me!"
Oh, boy... These kids...
Yu was once again pulled at from all directions at the daycare...
At the end of the workday, Eri approached Yu.
"I'm sorry about the other day. Were you hurt?"
Ah, right, when Yuuta pushed me over.
"I'm fine."
"Really? That's good to know..."
Eri smiled, relieved.
"Yuuta was worried too. Right?"
Yuuta hesitantly responded-
"... Sor... Ry..."
"Don't sweat it."
Yuuta sighed and walked off a bit.
Eri giggled to herself.
"Isn't he a good boy?... Hearing him call me 'Mom'... It had a nice ring to it. I was so happy when he said it... People call him a troublemaker and a good-for-nothing... And I believed all the things they said. I didn't bother to look at him with my own eyes... He gets angry and defends people, he apologizes when he needs to... He's actually a sweet boy..."

"Haha... Maybe I am. Being a parent is actually pretty fun."
Eri gently smiled.
"I was labeling him like everyone else. He's not related to me, he's the last wife's child, he doesn't listen to me, e's a troublemaker at school...
