Chapter 35: Sharp Lessons

Egwene meets Elayne in the dream world, including a Crowning Moment Of Funny as Elayne first takes the opportunity to try out the Sea People’s outfits, then unconsciously lowers her neckline when she thinks of Rand. But after they update each other, Egwene is yanked out by Amys, who’s very angry at her using the power without permission.

She’s led into a sweat lodge with the Wise Ones, Aviendha, and Moiraine, and they are all worried about exactly what Rand will do, as part of the prophecy is that he will destroy the Aiel. Aviendha is assigned to stay close to him and report anything she learns.

So, there’s another Prophecy Twist coming. Right now I expect it means he’ll reintroduce good relations between the Aiel and the rest of the world, “destroying” their isolated culture. Also, it’s very nice to now have a way that people in different subplots can communicate, which really helps in this feeling like a singular work.

Sadly, the dream world will be the only way people from different subplots communicate for a while yet. It is not, however, the only method of communication and connection the subplots will have in the series.

They communicate by normal methods too and that information is of course not accurate. It brings nice effect to the story.
