Caves, towns, mountains, and vengeful ponies.

Right, Just a quick update on my sound problem. The good news is, I know a way to fix it. The bad news is, It causes the game to freeze alot instead. Sigh...

Anyway, hello again, and welcome to my LP. Yes, I know I'm releasing two parts in one day. I like this game. ^_^ Last time, Discord set everything on fire, The Canterlot Castle decided to move underground to get away from him, and Twi, Celestia and and Applebloom rode off on Chocobos. (yay!) Riding a Chocobo is not only faster, but means you don't get any random encounters. However you can't enter areas on them, so sadly, I must dismount for now, and enter this cave I was told to go too. Apparently, thought the cave is Canterlot City. Apparently the city isn't attached to the Castle.

Hmm, Celestia wishes to show me something. Apparently, she has a rare jewel, which can teach Twi, and any other unicorn spells. This also include Alicorns, so Celestia can learn from it too. There are other jewels as well for me to find it seems. The empire also wants them, so I definitely need to get them then. Actually, I should probably mention what Skills My party members have. Applebloom can steal, and can also use Tools (oh yes, the tools I got in the shop before are not one time use. Good.), Celestia can use magic, and can also use Summon. I guess that uses various Espers. Twilight is stuck with just magic. Anyway, off into the cave.

Yep, cave has random monsters. No surprises there. It also has a recovery Spring, which heals my HP and MP, by the entrance. Probably a good place to grind a bit here, if I need to. I tend to avoid that outside of the end game though in RPG's, though I try to do all sidequests, which tends to cover the grinding I need. I have no idea if this game even has sidequests though. Something to find out I guess.

OK, this cave isn't linear like the last one was. Time to get horribly lost then.

I should probably mention that several of the items names have changed to more pony related stuff. At least, I don't think that the original healing items were different types of apples...

Oh, the cave wasn't actually that bad it turns out. It was more a few branching paths leading to treasure than a horrible maze of doom. They come tater I guess. Oh, Something else about my playstyle, I tend to go down all paths, even If I find the exit, to find treasure. This also tends to cover me for grinding.

OK, I've arrived at Canterlot City. Lets see what friendly faces I can find! Hmm, Big Mac appears to be one of the Generic NPC sprites that get repeated for townspeople, as well as Octavia, Colgate, and a few others. And, wait, is that Fluttershy? Chase after her!

Fluttershy ran off into a cafe, called the Hipster's hangout. (not sure if a joke by the modder or not) She seems to have a pet dog with her.

XD, Celestia is acting like Fluttershy is some kind of badass, even though its clear she is still her shy self. Granted, she did stare down a dragon, but still...

Damn, Flutters is too shy to talk to me. Should have seen that coming. However, I did get to name her, so I guess she's yet another future party member. (Speaking of which, I wonder when I will get Luna...)

Hmm, the general word around town is the the empire is invading everywhere, we are all doomed. What cheery people. Ponies. Whatever.

Ok, you can get into a double bed with a mare already in it. It doesn't do anything, but I found it funny. ^_^

Ah, a Relic shop. Relics it seems are equipable items that can give you bonuses. For example, Celestia starts with a healing ring, which does a low amount of healing sometimes in battle. Hmm, the shop sells Goggles. Did they make the 'The Goggles, they do nothing!' joke? Yes, yes they did. Even though they actually do something. I get horseshoes, which allow me to sprint, doubling movement speed, and gives me one extra speed point. Not actually that useful, but convenient.

In a random house, a hint by one of the occupants lead me to find inside what appears to be a secret dungeon. It has a save point, so it could be interesting what I find inside...

Huh, it only appears to contain random Chests full of gold. Probably the rich mare who owns that house uses this place as a secret stash.

<_<

>_>

MINE!

Actually, talking to her and her family, it seems she is helping the empire. Therefore I am justified in stealing all her stuff! (she might actually be working for the republic, but I doubt it, and... well... I want her stuff.)

Ah, weapon and armour shops. Well, I just so happen to have recently acquired a fair amount of gold, so I outfit my characters in better gear.

Well, I honestly can't find anything else to do here. There is only one thing left to do, wander aimlessly around the map until adventure finds me! Or I get bored. Or die. Whatever comes first.

... Twi dies on the first random encounter I find... *Facepalm* Back to the inn...

Random exploration, take two! I find a lone house in the middle of nowhere... It seems that I can sleep here for free. That would have been good to know before I spent money on an Inn stay. Oh well, it's only 80GP, I can get that from one fight.

According to Celestria, Luna was here, or at least she thinks she was. And according to a random mare who appeared outside for no reason, the occupant left a few days ago toward the mountains, after a person called Graymane (a fighting trainer, I think) was killed, and his son became missing.

OK, I left, and eventually found a place called Mt. Colts. I guess this is where Luna went. Yep, there are caves here. And they have random encounters. With human martial artists for some reason. It seems like the layout of this has two kind of areas, the Mountain area, and the caves. I need to travel though caves to reach different parts of the mountain.

Huh, I reached a cliff, and I saw a silhouette of some some pony run just out of site on it. Luna?

OK, Applebloom's Auto Crossbow is really powerful. It can cause decent damage to all enemies, and it has no cost.

Huh, I don't think the pony I'm following is Luna. Unless Luna is green. And an earth pony. and male.

Ack, he's trying to kill me! And doing quite well. Twi, this is a horrible time to run out of MP!

Yay! Luna's here! save me from the bad, bad stallion! and yes, she talks with the ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE!

Ah, I see, the Pony I'm fighting was Graymane's apprentice/son. He wished to inherit his Dojo, but it was passed to Luna instead, so he wishes to kill her, and us, because we were looking for her.

The green pony, who is called Banner it turns out, just punched my party off a cliff, leaving a fight between him and Luna. Which I get to control! Wait, why is there a countdown on Luna's head? Kill him faster Luna!

Ah, it seems Luna's skill, Ansatsu, requires me to input codes to use it. For example, the one the game tells me to use is left, right, left. This looks interesting. I wonder if I have to learn the codes in game before I can use them?

Well, Luna won! Yay! It seems she only speaks in the ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE, not just for battling villains. She is glad that Celestia has officially joined the Republic, and wishes to finally go and destroy it. And has now joined our Party. It seems like my party can only hold four members though. Do I have to swap out members, or do I get multiple parties to control I wonder?

Almost out of the mountains now, just a few steps more and... Random encounter. Which Kills Luna due to her being weak from the boss fight, and I forgot to heal her... Terrific...

Huh, on the path on the overworld, I find a cave on the side. Do I dare enter? Well, I can save at the entrance, so sure!

Ah, Its the Luna Republic Hideout! Finally, a cave that doesn't want my blood! It has a free Inn too. Thank God. Sleep heals all wounds. Even death.

I think here is a good place to end this chapter. Perhaps next time I will start the fight against the empire. Or just end up killing rats in someone's basement. Whatever pays well.

Until next time. ^_^

Oh, yes. During this instalment, I think I fixed the sound issue in a way that doesn't cause things to freeze. Lets hope it works properly from now on.

Note: anyone who can equip an esper can summon it in battle by pressing up on their magic menu, but only once per battle. Celestia's Summon command seems to lack that limitation, but I don't know whether it skips the MP cost too.

Another note - it seems that the Neighshe mines and Canterlot cave are the only Dungeons where treasure changes, so you can stop worrying about that for the places that come up.

Goggles Trivia: In the original game, Goggles prevented the Blind status condition, which causes your accuracy to lower. Here's the funny part: the programmers didn't implement the Evade and Accuracy stats correctly, so Blinded party members were as capable of hitting an enemy as anyone else. It was fixed in the GBA remake, but if this is based on the original version, then the Goggles really don't do anything useful...

Also, I'd suggest equipping that Unicorn to Luna if she doesn't begin with any recovery spells. Espers can never be destroyed, teach new spells to whoever has one equipped, and definitely weren't obtainable this quickly in the original title.

^This game is based on the original SNES version. Luckily, Pony Fantasy 6 is patched to fix the evasion glitch. Goggles are still worth your money and relic slot. In a little while, you'll be on a raft down a river. Make sure you have some Goggles on you then. You'll see why.

^Disregard that (stupid lack of edit button...).

Really? When I played the original I remember never being able to hit ANYTHING while blinded.
