Go To

Hello again, and welcome to my LP. Last time, I did Rarity's and Sweetie's side quest, and finally got a happy story for one of my characters.

Now, It's time to do the Cultist's tower. In the tower only magic moves work, so only spellcasters will be of any use. This means my party will be composed of Twilight, Trixie, Rarity, and Luna. They all know strong magic anyway, thanks to the Cactrots, so as long as I don't burn through all of my mana, I'm good to go. I thinks I will buy some sarsaparilla (Ether) to help restore my reserves when needed.

OK, I'm here. Let's enter.

To start, I can't just walk through a fount door. I need to climb stairs on the outside to the top.

OK, My first random encounter. Wow, It actually will not let me pick moves other than Magic and items. Other stuff doesn't even appear as a option. Even rarity's Sorcery isn't available.

... That enemy has a wall on him... Hmm, Let's wall my own people then.

Ah, he's frozen Rarity and Twi, Ko'ed Trixie, and Luna doesn't actually know good spells since I forgot to train her in magic like the others...

Phew, he cast a spell on my walled character. He died.

That was tough! I'm going to warp out, then come back with a magic trained Luna, and Wall bands. (Wall bands are a cheap tactic, but if the game is going to use Wall I see no reason why I shouldn't myself.)

Warp doesn't work... OK then. I get out without encountering anyone else though.

And I'm back. Things should go alot smoother this time.

Climbing the tower is far easier this time around.

Hmm, a door? let's stop climbing and enter.

The room contains nothing but a chest. Inside is a relic which gives protection from death magic. Now, I actually remember an important bit of information about this tower. I can't remember if I was told in game, or by someone in real life, but I should check to the right of the chest. Yep, there's a hidden switch. Let's press it.

It uncovers a door leading to another room with a chest outside one floor down. This chest contains a Air Anchor, a new Tool for Bloom! I'll try that out later. Well, back to climbing!

Hmm, these enemies are playing smart. They don't start with wall, but start casting it on themselves to reflect spells off like I am doing. (Remember, Wall can't reflect a reflected attack.)

Wow, this tower is tall. I've been climbing for ages. The enemies just keep getting stronger too. Now I'm getting foes who absorb some elements. He is also bouncing Buffs off of my party to make them hit himself though his own wall.

Another door? another chest. This one has a nice shield.

Hmm, there is one really odd enemy I sometimes find while climbing the tower. It doesn't attack, but either runs away, or uses items on my party to restore them. I use them as MP restorers too, using osmose to steal their Mana.

The next door contains a dirk for Fluttershy, called Wonder, and a dragon. I'm not fighting the dragon.

The next room has magic Armour.

I am sick of this tower. It's just stairs, with strong monsters to make you cry. You can't even run from them...

Ahh, some enemies know spells which don't get reflected. Quake, Comet, Molten... It's not an easy climb, even with Wall Bands.

I'm at the top! At last... There's a small room on top of the tower... Containing a chest. Let's open her Up! It contains a Gold Tiara Relic. It changes Magic into X magic. What does that mean? Let's try it on Twi.

I leave to room, and... Oh. The cultists followed me up. There's alot of them... They are not happy that I took the treasure and want me to return it. Never! It's my shiny!

Oh, a ghost flew up the tower. Ah, he's fighting me! Boss fight!

He's called Magicmaster. Let's scan him.

Oh, First, Twi's X magic allows her to cast two spells per turn. Very useful.

Ok, the scan comes up. he has 50000HP and no weaknesses.

... He has Wall change. He casts it whenever he is hit. Crap. Luckily, The move Comet doesn't have an element. It also ignores Wall, which I bet he has.

Heh, This is easy. He can't hit us with Wall on! It's a slow fight, but I'm not in danger. I don't even have to worry about my mana thanks to the Osmose spell.

Ha! Killed him!

...

Or not, he had reraise. Well, This just allows me to kill him a second time!

... Oh Crap, he's casting Ultima.

... It did around 7000 damage to all my party, ignoring Wall. I died. Then he dies too. I guess he went 'If I go down then you go down too!'.

...

There wasn't a single save point on this tower. I lose all my progress here.

...

It was mentioned a while ago, but in Faust's status screen in the menu you should actually be able to change which commands she has. If you give her magic, she doesn't need to learn it on her own, it should be the combined spells of the other ponies in the party. And reraise should do the trick for you as well for the boss fight. If you have the Berserk spell, than anyone with crazy-high attack is a good option (they are forced to use their normal attacks).

Well, on the bright side, at least you know you can handle 99% of the tower now...and since you didn't kill the dragon the first time, you won't go through the pain of having to kill it twice. Just take some deep breaths, make sure that Life 3/Reraise (cast before the actual death of a character) has been learned from the Phoenix Esper, and try again whenever you feel up to the challenge. As always, I love the blog, and I'm always here for support during these final entries.
