Hello again, and welcome to my LP. Last time, we found the Luna Republic hideout, and are about to converse with Mayor Mare, who is organising the resistance.

I decided to take a hint from the comments, and Equip Luna with the Unicorn Esper, so she can learn some magic. At the very least, it will give her cure, which is always useful, at least until higher levels where I have more HP.

Huh, According to Mayor Mare, Twi can talk to Espers. That hasn't been shown yet though, unless that's why Twi acted odd around the Esper at the beginning of the game.

Twi is not willing to believe she killed 50 elite Guards in 3 minutes. I'm not sure if it's because she doesn't think she's strong enough, or that she was evil enough. I suspect it's more the former than the latter though.

It seems mayor mare thinks the key to winning the war against the empire is magic. Twi isn't ready for the responsibility of that. She still has no faith in her power yet.

Hmm, it seems the most powerful form of magic is Friendship, according to Celestia at least. Looks like they are sticking to the show, in that regard.

Right, I get to choose, does Twi want to be a key part of this war, or not? Well, We all know What I have to pick. No!

OK, If I pick no, I am still free to leave, surprisingly enough, but only with Twilight. The over party members stay behind. That's all well and good, but random encounters will quickly flatten Twi if she goes out on her own... (I do wonder if you can do anything solo like this, or you are forced into picking yes to do any progression).

Anyway, lets pick yes this time. Mayor mare give me a relic as thanks. Mayor mare then calls a meeting with my party members, and the few genetic NP Cs scattered around the place. The meeting talks about the mech armour the empire has, and that the empire seems to have found a energy source to power them, but no one knows what it is. Why do I get a feeling that the empire's power source is less than morally good? The meeting reckons that is something to do with Espers, though.

Apparently, in the war of chaos, that war that occurred 1000 year ago and almost wiped out magic, there were magical machines, powered by Espers. Magic and Espers are in fact closely linked.

"Luna: HUZZAH! OUR ODDS HAVE BEEN DOUBLED!" I'm going to get references all they way though this game like this, aren't I?

Oh, there's some kind of emergency! The one guy who wasn't at the meeting for some reason (perhaps he smells. ^_^) walked into the cave and collapsed on the ground. Apparently, Canterlot has been taken by the empire, and they are coming this way!

Applebloom has been tasked with sneaking into Canterlot City to slow down the empire. It doesn't look like I will be having her in the party for a while then. No idea what she can do there.

Celestia wants to go back to the first town I was at (I don't think I mentioned it's name before. It's Neighshe) to get a look at the esper there. There's a secret path out of the cave, down a river. It looks like we are going that route.

Wait, the mayor joined my party? I don't remember naming her, so I doubt it's permanent. It looks like she replaces Applebloom for now.

It looks like I'm going rafting! Nothing can go wrong! OK, the game tells me that if Mayor mare gets K Oed before I get to Neighshe, its game over.

Ah, I See. As I go down the river, I will get attacked. I need to fight off all the enemies. Shouldn't be that hard, right?

Oh, I also get to pick which way to go down the river... OK, this might get tricky. Oh, it seems that the mayor has a party heal ability, with only a very small MP cost. Useful.

Ah, Celestia got blinded, and yes, It does appear to actually cause her to miss. I guess the modder fixed that part of the game.

OK, After not doing too bad on this raft, It is boss time, against Ultros, this big octopus thing.

OK, this boss seems to enjoy slinging insults. (He calls Luna 'Princess Capslocks', XD) He also hates fire attacks. Good this Celestia and Twi both know a fire attack. He also has a Tentacle attack which does a Crap ton of damage. D: (Must. Not. Make. Obvious. Tentacle. Joke.)

Killed him! Well, at least chased him off. "Luna: WE ARE VICTORIOUS! HOW MANY EXPERIENCE POINTS DO WE RECEIVE?" Bad Luna! Leave the fourth wall alone!

"Twi: What is this? It's Sticky! AHH!" ... No comment...

OK, Luna dived in the water after it... And got catapulted straight out into the sky... I don't think I'll be seeing her again for a while...

Huh? I get to pick an scenario to do next? Between Applebloom, Luna, and Twi/Celestia/Mayor Mare? Hmm, choices, choices...

I'll think I'll pick Luna. I get to do the others later, right? Besides, you can't go wrong with ROYAL CANTERLOT CAPSLOCKS

Luna, after being washed ashore further along the river, wanders a bit and finds a house. And outside the house is Fluttershy! Perhaps I can get her in my party now?

Hmm, perhaps getting PRINCESS CAPSLOCKS to talk to the timid Fluttershy was a bad idea...

XD They are basically recreating the scene between Luna and Fluttershy on the episode 'Luna Ecliped' (this one, if you are wondering.), Though Fluttershy doesn't flee this time. And in fact joins my party to show Luna the way to Neighshe. Yay!

And her skills are... None? At all? Huh. She does have battle commands though. as well as fight and use items like everyone else, she can throw, and can stare. I can't wait to see what that does! She also has a feather icon for her status. I have no idea what that means. Presumably something to do with flying.

Oh, I see, she has a Relic that gives her Float, which halves wind and bolt damage.

OK, I set off with Fluttershy. It looks like Luna has stopped using the ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE, which is a shame, because that means I can't type ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE more.

Cool, Stare allows me to control the creature I use it on! It doesn't even cost MP! Not sure if it only works on Animals yet.

OK, after progressing on the overworld map for a while, I have come across a Imperial camp. Let see how long I can listen in before I upset the entire Imperial army.

Huh, It seems like Discord is here. And what is this about General Zecora being resigned? (Zecora is with the bad guys? Say it isn't so!) They guards seem to think that Zecora is a nice person though, unlike discord, who is just a prick.

Wait, they are about to attack Sweet Apple Castle? I bet Applejack is there! I MUST GO TO THIS CASTLE NOW!

Right... their attack plan right now seems to be simply climb the walls. With no climbing equipment. With Hooves. Good job guys. They do heavily outnumber the castle defences though...

We cut inside the castle and... Its Applejack! And I get to name her. (Not like it wasn't completely obvious that all the mane 6 are going to go into my party eventually)

AJ has a simple plan, to kill the commander. That might not be that easy...

OH, I get to play the fight between AJ and the commander! Hmm, I wonder, If I use healing items, can I take out all of the enemy solders? Perhaps I get something for it!

Right, AJ's skills are Ansatsu, like Luna, and Bushido. Bushido has you charge a bar, and how long you charge it for gives you various attacks.

Yes, you can take out all the solders attacking the castle, now for the Commander!

Ok, that fight was easy. I got a black belt from it, too. I wonder if that was a normal drop, or a reward for defeating all the enemies?

Now to stealth through the camp as Fluttershy. Hey, is that Zecora? Hmm, solder very willing to get himself killed, Zecora is not wanting him to do that. Also, yes, Zecora does speak in rhymes.

OK, Zecora has been summoned by the emperor, and must leave. Discord looks like he will use the fact that there is no Zecora to do some chaos... And by chaos, I mean neurotoxin. Fun...

Fluttershy decided that this is the best place to confront Discord. In the middle of an enemy camp. Perhaps not her brightest plan.

OK, fight against Discord! Let go! Luna, attack! Good hit! Now Fluttersh-wait he's running away already...

OK, chase him! OK now, round two! Attack! And he runs away again. Wow...

And now he sends guard after us. No real problem though. Wait, he used the time it took to kill the solders to dump the neruotoxin in the water. Crap.

The neurotoxin is killing the guards at the castle. Double crap.

I'm playing as AJ now, trying to warn people about the neurotoxin.

The king is dead from the neurotoxin. Triple crap.

AJ's family is dead too. one of them was just a child... Crap.

AJ goes on the war path, running into the enemy camp and killing all the solders she can, with Luna and Fluttershy's help...

Luna convinces AJ to leave with them, riding off in some stolen mech suits, taking out a few more guards on the way...

Wow... Discord just killed an entire castle, full of innocents as well as guards... There were only two survivors I could see, AJ and a random guard...

...

I'm going to end this here...

Until next time...

You just got a glimpse of why Kefka is such a well-known villain.

Fluttershy automatically being placed at the front of the party before the chase after Kefka is an interesting thing that didn't work quite as well for the character she replaces. It really happens because of how they shuffle Applejack and Discord into and out of the party - yes, Discord is programmed in as a PC in this sequence, just one on the opposite side of the battle.

Missed secrets: there is a Chest Monster that you can only find if you ignore chasing Discord to explore the Imperial Base instead - he'll wait for you to catch up. If you don't find it here, you can't find it anywhere else either. The main reward is a Green Beret: a very useful hat that boosts physical evasion and HP, but they can be bought in stores later on.

You actually followed my advice? Why, thank you! Now that your other magicians are off on their own adventure, it's definitely good for Luna to be able to protect herself, isn't it? Just make sure to de-equip Unicorn after Luna learns all the spells from it; I believe your inventory carries over when you go back to playing as Bloom or Twilight, so someone else can become a talented healer by the time the groups get back together.

Also, all of that chaos at the end was definitely the Establishing Character Moment for Kefka/Discord. He's prone to sacrificing underlings to enact his plans, willing to crack jokes in the middle of battle, and capable of slaughtering hundreds of people while laughing mad. Kind of like a famous jokester from the Batman comics, if you think about it...

...One last thing. When you get to pick another scenario, could you do Bloom next? Locke, the thi- I mean, treasure hunter she's based on, is probably my favourite character from the game. Thank you again for listening to me earlier, and I wish you the best of luck in the battles to come!
