With the Seth guarding the rear, the small band moves out, Franz north, Vanessa south, and Eirika, Gilliam, Colm, and Moulder east.
Franz being nearly invincible, he had no trouble with the nearby cavaliers and provided vision to the north with his torch, while Vanessa, Moulder, and Colm did the same across the lower front. Meeting the enemy advance, Moulder healed Colm and Gilliam got a critical on a fighter that saved me some trouble.

I thought I remembered the Halberd and Horseslayer being terrible in 7 and 8. Then again he still had only 50% hit with WTA. Anyway Franz counterkilled him so that's no longer a threat.

Franz is close to the boss now and takes a few hits plus gets poisoned, so Eirika replaces him and chugs some Pure Water. Colm takes out a knight with the Armorslayer. Franz arrives to help Gilliam with a shaman and get Mended by Moulder, who will take a hit from a knight.
Colm deals with that knight, Moulder stands on a fort while healing Colm, Gilliam goes for the village, Vanessa is almost to the Renais citizens. I don't know if she's allowed to rescue them but I can at least watch for the spider. Franz returns to the north to deal with a mage and provide vision for Eirika. One turn to the boss.
A soldier jumps out of nowhere and takes Eirika to half health, while Franz turns out to be one square short of melee range to the boss and broke his javelin earlier. -sigh-
