Siuan reveals that Egwene and Nynaeve are two of the very few people she can absolutely trust not to be Black, and Morgase’s issues mean she can’t include Elayne in the plan yet, though Verin will be hearing about it soon. That plan is for them to use the slightly expanded freedom of Accepted to investigate if Liandrin left any sleeper agents behind. Already I love this. They’re given ready-made Chekhovs Guns with notes that whatever they’re doing is authorized by the Amyrlin Seat, though of course they won’t work with an actual Black. Spinoff private detective series, go!
Now this takes the Tar Valon storyline to whole new awesomeness, unlike anything we’ve seen in the last two books with a real good years of Alias vibe. Though one complaint is that Siuan’s fishing metaphors are becoming a little tiresome. I get that she’s inclined to use them given her background, but now it really feels like Jordan is shoving them into every single thought the woman has, until she sounds like a member of one of those minor Star Trek Planet of Hats races. Well, this is still really cool.
