The girls are the first to arrive in Tear, which is full of horrible poverty everywhere they look. Since Nynaeve and Egwene turned out to both get extremely seasick, they go to the local Wisdom Ailhuin, who has a fun little duel with Nynaeve over who’s the better healer. Then Nynaeve tries out her From a Certain Point of View skills, which ends with Ailhuin agreeing to let them stay with her, and getting them in touch with Juilin Sandar, a thief catcher.

Being our first time seeing Tear, this is the usual chapter that’s mostly given over to Scenery Porn, and man, you can just smell the stink of this place. This promises to be another quite different kind of climax, in a place right out of a De Sica film. And I look forward to meeting Juilin Sandar, and seeing how much he can really do in the space left.

Juilin Sandar, from this book, I was thinking might be a pretty cool character.

Then...for the next several, from what I remember, he just kind of follows around the cast without doing much notable. I feel as though Jordan didn't know what to do with him.
