Interlude - Castle Ostia

Roy and pals have retaken Ostia and defeated Leygance, and now prepare to enter the sealed fire cave to obtain the mighty Durandal, weapon wielded by the hero Roland. But first, they rest to recuperate from the many hard battles.

Roy: level 12 lord

  • Stats - 27 hp, 10 str, 15 skill, 12 spd, 17 luck, 6 def, 2 res.
  • Supports - C Lance

So far, Roy is actually pretty decent. He isn't excelling, but his stats are good enough so far that he can take down most enemies without dying, although whether they themselves will is in question. Still, he's doing pretty well, and hasn't been a hindrance.

Lance: level 14 cavalier

  • Stats - 29 hp, 13 str, 16 skill, 14 spd, 7 luck, 7 def, 4 res.
  • Supports - C Roy

Aside from his low defenses right now, he's pretty solid. His low luck, defense and resilience means that he's pretty vulnerable to all types of hits, and his avoid won't be the best, but his offensive stats are great, and he generally just demolishes people.

Ellen: level 9 sister (Is this the usual translation in this game? I feel like it'd simply be cleric.)

  • Stats - 17 hp, 5 mag, 10 skill, 11 spd, 13 luck, 0 def, 12 res.
  • Supports - C Lugh.

That hp and defense make me sad, but her luck and speed let her dodge well enough, and her resilience is good for taking magic hits. Her magic isn't too good yet, but hopefully it will pick up.

Lot: level 13 fighter

  • Stats - 37 hp, 10 str, 8 skill, 12 spd, 5 luck, 9 def, 3 res
  • Supports - C Dieck

Not doing as his name implies, he is having some trouble here and there. His skill mixed with axes accuracy means that his hit chance is generally pretty low, especially when dealing with swordsmen, but even against other axemen he has some trouble. Still, his axes help his only decent strength, he's pretty fast, and his defenses are decent, so he can tank hits.

Dieck: level 14 mercenary

  • Stats - 35 hp, 14 str, 14 skill, 13 spd, 9 luck, 6 def, 2 res
  • Supports - C Lot, C Clarine

Who's got awesome offensive stats, good dodging ability, decent defense, and a prospectively awesome support triangle coming his way? This guy. He's definitely one of the most capable party members, and just wrecks enemies when they come his way.

Lugh: level 14 mage

  • Stats - 24 hp, 11 mag, 13 skill, 13 spd, 8 luck, 3 def, 7 res
  • Supports - C Ellen

A surprisingly fierce little kid, Lugh makes great use of his magical power to rip through people. Since resilience isn't to heavy on enemies, he does solid damage, and since magic is light and accurate, he doesn't have to worry about missing or being weighed down very often. All around pretty cool, if a bit frail, though he has decent avoid.

Clarine: level 9 troubadour

  • Stats - 18 hp, 3 mag, 6 skill, 14 spd, 16 luck, 4 def, 11 res
  • Supports - B Rutger, C Dieck

I find it sad that I can say her 4 defense is the bulkiest among my magical units, but all in all, she has some odd stats. Her 6 skill is going to be odd once she can fight, since magic is accurate, but she isn't. Her magic hasn't gone up after a level up yet either, though her luck is insane and her speed is similarly high, meaning she'll dodge just about everything.

Rutger: level 13 myrmidon

  • Stats - 27 hp, 11 str, 19 skill, 18 spd, 7 luck, 6 def, 3 res
  • Supports - B Clarine

That skill and speed is just crazy. Seriously, he is going to ram those caps (makes me wish I had RD style BEXP). His defenses are a bit shallow, but his hp means he can take a hit, while his defenses means he can only take a hit. Definitely a Glass Cannon, but a very powerful one to be sure.

Sue: level 14 nomad

  • Stats - 25 hp, 9 str, 15 skill, 17 spd, 10 luck, 9 def, 1 res
  • Supports - None

Basically the same deal as Rutger statwise, though her bows means she is less fearful of retaliation, and her higher defense means she won't have to worry about melee fighters hurting her too badly. Her resilience means she won't want to bait any mages from afar though.

Alright then, so with that out of the way, we will next be entering the sealed fire cave and defeating the foes guarding the Blazing Blade!

Elen technically is a Priest. If I recall, FE6 doesn't specify the male and female healers as separate classes.

Alright, so it was a specific choice by the translators. The patch I got makes some... interesting choices (Seize is Conquer, Dragon Generals instead of Wyvern Generals), but none of them are technically wrong, and I don't mind them.

Well, the patch does have some goof-ups here and there: Whoever in charge of translating took literally the Clerics' original name in the Japanese Version...
