A boss with a ranged weapon?

Blasphemy. Nah, but seriously, it seems these guys have finally gotten word on our tendency to shoot people to death.

Chapter 10 - Princess Minerva: Finished.

Base: Everyone is stocked up on weapons and such, and Jeorge is given a more balanced inventory. Wolf is returned to being a general, and everyone else simply keeps an eye on their weapons. Julian also joins for some door opening fun.

Marth: Standard fare, recruited Maria and Minerva.

Julian: Opened all doors that needed opening, also stole a physic, which alongside the Levin Sword the other thief stole, gave us some very nice loot.

Party: Stuck together throughout the majority of this battle. Initially, they all push in, Wolf hunting down a thief while everyone else cuts a path through the foes to help him get there. Once they are dealt with, Sedgar hold down the main entry to the castle as Minerva summons her reinforcements. Wolf and Jeorge accompany Marth and Julian to the other side of the castle as they aim to free Maria and grant Minerva an avenue to reach them. Wolf and Jeorge take down a hero who is guarding the door, laying claim to the first of many Master Seals that will promote my units soon. Once all of Minerva's reinforcements have been slain, that group also joins Marth at the front, and Minerva is welcomed with open arms alongside her sister (although this means I must yet again kill innocent benchwarmers to fulfill this games cruel gaiden requirements), and the hunters Ogma and Barst head off to slay Zharov.

Zharov: Slain in a single round by Barst and Ogma thanks to a critical hit from the latter hunter. Barst first tricked him into equipping his steel lance however, so as to prevent them from being countered when they struck from afar. They then both lay into him with their arrows, felling him easily enough.

Levels: Gordin 17; Norne 17; Ogma 17; Barst 16; Navarre 16; Wolf 8+; Sedgar 8+; Jeorge 2+.

Up Next: Knorda Market, where we shall obtain our Ballistician (at the very least the first one. Beck is an unsure case right now)!

Comment Question: So, now that the translation patch for New Mystery of the Emblem is available, what would you guys think of me playing through Shadow Dragon and New Mystery in much the same way as the Tellius games, following them sequentially? I'd be up for it if you guys are, as New Mystery is shaping up to be a fun game, and it'd be a nice way to fit it in as well. What do you all think?

I'd be down with you going right into New Mystery, though a gimmick run like this might not be as fun.

A question on the here and now though, are you planning on eventually killing off Minerva and Maria, or will you just keep them on the bench like other plot important units like Sheeda, Hardin, etc?

I was going to suggest that, but I couldn't think of a polite, non-entitled way to put it. I'd love for you to cover New Mystery. Maybe you could tell us the best My Unit combination? I'd be really interested in that. Also, the general strategies, since this is shaping up to be a really tough sequel.

Off-topic, but is the "Levin Sword" a reference to FE 4?

@Otherarrow: I plan on letting them live, though that means I'm probably gonna need to kill off Lena and Merric, since I'm running out of non plot important people who are also on the bench. Worst case scenario, I may need to sacrifice these two, though I hope it doesn't come to that.

@Doctrain: Yeah, if I were to continue into New Mystery (which, since there seems like a decent amount of support, seems likely), I'd probably need to be more detailed in the strategies, since even up to where I am (chapter 7), there has been a fair amount of challenge so far. As for My Unit, it'll probably be a bit different each time, since there doesn't seem to be a "best" combination, although there are obviously better ones for certain classes and such.

@Montago: I think it is, although why the thunder spewing sword references Levin, I don't know. I'd assume it's just there as a random little call back, like the Gant's Lance and the like in FE 6.

The Levin Sword is the localization of the Thunder Sword, and the shout out to Levn is probably a coincidence (but who knows). Remember, Levn was more associated with Wind than Thunder.

Oh, so it was just called the Thunder Sword in Japan? Makes sense, and actually Levin's association with wind was what confused me, since that seemed like a random reference.
