Oh I wish to take that Uber Spear of yours so badly Vaida.

Alas, it was not to happen, for that would make an already relatively easy chapter remarkably easier. As it stands, I wasn't even able to defeat her, since I've been spreading the experience around more widely, and I don't have anyone fast enough to avoid getting doubled.

Chapter 24 - Unfulfilled Heart: Finished.

Base: More inventory cleaning after making some purchases last chapter (I think I forgot to cover them, but Eliwood bought a few reavers of each type). Sold some no longer useful promotion items, and a few keys and other such things that were lying around. After that, we set off!

Pent, Louise, Eliwood, & Hector: Hid in the northeastern most corner of the map, hiding from the enemies until reinforcements appeared, whom Pent and Louise (as well as Lyn and Florina) took care of.

Lyn, Florina, Wil, & Lucius: Took the upper area near Bern castle, clearing away any foes who tried to separate the groups. After they ended all of the enemies near Vaida's area, they joined Pent, Louise, Eliwood, and Hector in the northeastern most corner of the map and finished off the wyvern reinforcements who appeared.

Dart, Legault, & Heath: Cleared out the bottom area, rescuing the village and obtaining a Hammerne, as well as defeating many of the brigands who aimed to strike the village.

Supports: Lyn and Florina (A)!

  • Lyn: Phew...
  • Florina: Lady Lyndis? Are...Are you all right?
  • Lyn: Ah, Florina.
  • Florina: Is something the matter? Might...I be of some help?
  • Lyn: ... ...Thanks. But it's really nothing. It can't be fixed, anyway.
  • Florina: ...Is it the plains?
  • Lyn: What?
  • Florina: Please, don't hide it even from me! You want to return to the plains, don't you, Lyn? I know how you used to leave the castle and gaze out from the hill at Caelin.
  • Lyn: It's just... It doesn't seem fair. I know... With my grandfather in his condition, I'm the only one to watch over the castle...
  • Florina: You shouldn't force yourself, though. I'm sure that Lord Hausen would understand... Living on the plains just seems right for you, Lyn.
  • Lyn: Florina... Hmm, guess what? You stopped calling me "Lyndis"... And you're speaking much more frankly now.
  • Florina: Ah! I-I apologize! I'm such a scatterbrain, I...
  • Lyn: Please, Florina— Don't... I, too, thought it was the way we had to be with each other. But I was wrong— I can't take it anymore. I've been so lonely all this time. Leaving the plains... And you, my best friend treating me like a noble stranger. What does rank and birth have to do with anything? I'm still myself, and you're still you! Please, talk to me normally, like you always used to.
  • Florina: Lyndis...Lyn... I...I'm sorry. I had no idea you felt that way...
  • Lyn: I do, and someday when I return to the plains... Come with me, won't you? I may not be able to pay you like I do now... But I would like you with me, Florina, as a friend.
  • Florina: Yes. That would be nice. Let's stick together, no matter what happens. Now...and always.

Vaida: Sat in her corner while we did other things, since we couldn't take her in a fight and thus left her be, as much as I'd have liked to have fought her.

Afterwards: Vaida withdraws, and Eliwood is greeted by a fearful Ninian and Nils, who inform him that Nergal is recovering slowly but surely. The group decides to slip away to continue the search for the Fire Emblem, and Lyn suggests following the enemies, in hopes of finding their base.

Up Next: Pale Flower of Darkness, where we recruit our final party member and face one of the Black Fang elite in their home turf!

Do the wyverns in your game also have an obsession with swarming over the castle rather than chasing your army?

Usually the supposedly-pursued protagonists have an easy time while the "rescuers" in the bottom struggle (because I'm pushing to reach the village/steal the Knight Crest).

I remember that from Hector Mode, but there weren't enough in Eliwood mode, nor did they ever live long enough to start.

Maybe it's a bit of bad luck and the fact that Lyn's group was the more fragile one, but they got hurt more. Legault and pals just sorta pushed right on through the enemies, while Lyn's group got smacked around a bit by wyvern riders. I do agree with you in regards to Hector mode though. The heat is off the lords in that, and so they really don't deal with too much trouble.
