Why is the only competent army mine?

Seriously, these ally units are just terrible. Between these mooks and Frelia's cutscene wimps, I'm starting to wonder why I even bothered seeking military help from these people.

Chapter 19 - Last Hope: Finished.

Base: Handed Natasha a Torch, Warp, and Rescue staff, purchased a new longbow for Neimi, and replaced Amelia's hand axe before heading out.

Eirika: Guarded Mansel from a stray mercenary, and took out and discarded some spare vulneraries from the convoy to make room for the treasure Rennac was sending.

Rennac: Cleaned out the two treasuries with Natasha's help, grabbing a Fenrir, Runesword, Fortify, 5000 gold, Bolting, and a Speedwing.

Amelia, Franz, & Neimi: Guarded the main entrance of the castle, staving off the fierce horde of cavalry and swordmasters that Riev sends their way. Neimi originally joined Garcia heading east towards the eastern treasury, but after all the foes were finished there save for the reinforcements, she ran to join Franz and Amelia, as they were having the most trouble. She provided covering fire, and they purposefully avoided using ranged weapons to prevent killing too many foes and getting overwhelmed. Eventually, they whittled away at the foes, and purchased a respite near the end of the battle, but they were unable to reach Riev.

Garcia: Strolled on over to the eastern corner of the castle, where the treasury was located and some reinforcements were expected. He took out the thief who appeared and then fought off the reinforcements, though a few unlucky hits from the foes and an unlucky miss placed him uncomfortably close to death by axe-to-the-face. Thankfully, he avoided his demise, and returned the sentiment to his foe soon after.

Joshua: Started up in the northwestern spawn point alongside Natasha, and dealt with the enemies in the northern corridor who aimed to sneak up on and kill Mansel. He was annoyed by the archers who appeared, but with a few instances of help from Natasha, he mopped them up and could turn his attention to the other foes, until he had eventually finished the lot of them off.

Natasha: Helped everyone out with their jobs, healing Franz and Joshua with her physic when they got severely wounded, and warping and rescuing Rennac into and out of the locked, western treasure room to allow him to reach all of the chests in time.

Afterwards: L'Arachel takes the final sacred stone, and we set out for Darkling Woods, the old home of the Demon King. Mansel sees us off, and presents the Ivaldi and Latona (as well as 10000 gold) to Eirika, granting us the might of the sacred twins of Rausten for use against the Demon King.

Up Next: We enter Darkling Woods and face the the final general of Grado as well as Lyon's most powerful monster...

Comment Question: So, when working with Geoffrey's competent units, I asked whether you all knew any other really smart allies. Here, it's the reverse. What was the least capable group of "allies" you've ever been forced to watch stumble around on a battlefield?

On the plus side, incompetent and weak AI units means they can't steal as much EXP. You may say that doesn't matter this far in a game where you can actually level grind. And you'd be right. But it's still worth considering.

True, but I'm still utterly amazed at how utterly useless these guys are. Armor Knights are not supposed to do less damage than mercenaries and myrmidons and then get doubled. That just feels so wrong. But yeah, I admit, with the smaller amount of exp to go around in Sacred Stones, since it's a shorter game (assuming you don't grind), having green units take more of the exp would be rather annoying.

Zealot and Treck's imitation of Leeroy Jenkins in FE 6. Incompetent strategy more than incompetent stats.

I stopped reading this blog for a long time since I was so far behind, but I think I'm just going to pick up from here now.

Yeah, I hate recruitable allies who actively seem to want to die. Astrid from Po R is a good example (though she can be reached pretty soon to prevent her from getting wrecked, thankfully), since she can die so easily and just picks fights with people when she's an ally, though canto helps.

I can understand why, since I began blogging a couple games you didn't want to get spoiled on. Glad to know you're reading again though!
