This is the one time where I can accept Fog of War.

That being when I have healers who need leveling, because Torch staves are great for buffing them up a bit in the exp department.

Chapter 11 - Creeping Darkness: Finished.

Base: Promoted Joshua into a Swordmaster, gave Natasha another torch staff for some experience purposes, bought a hand axe for Franz, gave Garcia a speedwing to patch up his poor speed, and entered the fortress. Colm will be deployed alongside the party for treasure hunting purposes.

Eirika & Colm: Stayed behind everyone as they went about their business, taking care of their own end, with Eirika keeping a steady trail of needed items coming as well as recruiting L'Arachel, who then recruits Dozla, and Colm snatching up the treasure (a secret book, short spear, and restore staff, though the latter was taken from a foe who stole it first).

Party: Moved quickly through the fog, taking down any foes that they saw thanks to the light of the torch staff. Amelia led the charge to gain some more combat experience, with everyone else helping cull the foes numbers if they started to hinder progress. After pushing past the first corridor and near the southernmost door, Amelia and Franz blocked the exit and took down all of the foes behind the door when they unlocked it and entered. Natasha meanwhile keeps on throwing Torch charges around, slowly gathering experience until she reaches level 20 and promotes into a Valkyrie after they have finished off all of the gate forces and begin heading towards L'Arachel and Dozla. Neimi snipes a fleeing bonewalker that was making off with the restore staff, and claims it from him. Amelia again chokes the point on the stairs and fends off the enemies until only the ranged fighters are left, wherein Franz and Natasha help her deal with them.

Supports: Franz and Natasha (B).

  • Natasha: Franz. That satchel you made me is ingenious. Really.
  • Franz: Really? Good... I made yours more lightweight than the one I made myself.
  • Natasha: Thank you so much. I'll cherish it. Oh, ouch!
  • Franz: Hn!? Sister Natasha, are you all right? What's wrong?!
  • Natasha: My hair...
  • Franz: Oh... Your hair's gotten pinched in your clip.
  • Natasha: Ow...
  • Franz: Oh, don't move. Let me help you.
  • Natasha: Thank you. ...
  • Franz: ......
  • Natasha: .........
  • Franz: Got it.
  • Natasha: Thank you so much.
  • Franz: But your hair's still... Ah, I know. Hold on a moment. Let...me...see...
  • Natasha: Hm?
  • Franz: Ah. Here it is.
  • Natasha: A comb...?
  • Franz: Your hair is messed up. Would you like me to fix it?
  • Natasha: Yes, please. But where did you get that comb...
  • Franz: Excuse me for a moment. ......
  • Natasha: ......
  • Franz: ...This comb is a memento of my mother.
  • Natasha: Your...mother...?
  • Franz: Yes. See, when I left home, I was afraid of something bad happening. So I thought I'd take this comb with me as a good-luck charm. I usually keep it in front of the portrait of my mother Forde painted.
  • Natasha: I see...
  • Franz: Yes... ... ...... There! All done.
  • Natasha: Um...... It looks good. Much better than when I do it myself... Franz, you truly are a remarkably handy person. When you're near me, I find myself comforted by your presence.
  • Franz: Don't be silly. The pleasure's mine.
  • Natasha: No, I mean it. Thank you. I hope that this marks the beginning of a long friendship.
  • Franz: As do I, milady. As do I.

Wight: Natasha fights it, and they simply trade blows for three rounds (though she can't quite double him). Natasha allowed it to strike first on the first two rounds, and finished it off on the third round.

Vs Wight: Natasha lit up the area near the fortress' exit with a torch staff, and caught sight of a final monster; a bonewalker, just like any other they had faced before, or so she thought. She ushered her mount forward, waiting just within the range of the creature and prompting it to come to her. The monster noticed her, and shambled forward as expected, but suddenly leaped at her with an unexpected burst of speed. Even as she had finished the incantation for the lightning tome, the creature was upon her. A vertical arcing slash dug into her right arm, fell further and cut into her leg, and finally grazed her mounts flank before reaching its end. She bit back a scream and discharged her spell, the wave of light forcing the creature back.

Using the slight breathing room, she pulled out some healing ointment, and applied a small amount to her wounds to stop the blood flow some. The monster approached again, circling her, searching for an opening, and she began incanting, keeping a close eye on the beast in case of another strike. It charged again, sword poised for a thrust, but she anticipated the strike this time, guiding her mount to the side to avoid the brunt of the strike, though the thrust still dug deeply into her left arm. More focused then before, Natasha cast the lightning spell correctly this time, sending a beam of light at the back of the creature, the impact smashing it forward into the ground. Before it could recover and arm another offensive, she recited another lightning spell, and launched the light beam into the skull of the monster, smashing it to pieces from the force and slaying the beast.

Afterwards: Eirika thanks L'Arachel for the assistance, but she feels it was simply her sworn duty to do so. They introduce more properly, and then L'Arachel decides to join the group, alongside Dozla, believing that it is divine mandate that she assist Eirika in her goal. The party then reaches Caer Pelyn, but finds Saleh gone. After some deliberation between Eirika and Ewan, Saleh reappears and reprimands Ewan for his sudden intrusion. Ewan asks if Saleh would be willing to guide us through Caer Pelyn, and eventually agrees, but first suggests they all spend the night to rest from their battle. Suddenly, Glen appears and accuses Eirika of slaughtering innocent people, to which she is surprised and alarmed to learn. Innes cuts in and takes apart Glen's claim, explaining the situation to him, and Eirika tries to convince him to yield. Eventually he acquiesces, and allows us to leave, preparing to ask the Emperor what his reasons behind the war are, until Valter appear. Valter picks a fight with Glen and wins, killing the general and sending his men after us.

Up Next: Village of Silence, where we slay more monsters and free the town of Caer Pelyn from these dark creatures!

Ah, L'Arachel. Back when I thought your party would include more people, I assured myself that she would have been your last recruit, giving Joshua and Eirika more supports and becoming the only Anima magic-wielder in your squad after promotion. But times have changed, and I'm just glad that Joshua can find happiness with a messy-haired girl that can stumble upon a mount in the middle of a poorly-lit fort.

Congratulations for boosting the lowest-levelled member of the party into her promotion. Best of luck with Saleh, who (like Innes) doesn't get this kind of focus in Ephraim's story, and have a nice day.

EDIT: Yes, I meant to say "Ephraim's story", not "Eliwood's story". My mistake.

I'm just glad I got Natasha promoted this chapter, since it'd be a pain to force healing for a couple more chapters or so. And did you mean Ephraim's story, in regards to Saleh?
