Heh, may be smug now Alvis, but it looks like you haven't read the Evil Overlord List.

Namely, article 38.

If an enemy I have just killed has a younger sibling or offspring anywhere, I will find them and have them killed immediately, instead of waiting for them to grow up harboring feelings of vengeance towards me in my old age.

This is going to come back to bite you and your ilk firmly on the ass, I can assure you.

The intense battle for control of the capitol sent most of the Grandbellian lords to their grave. Only Alvis fully succeeded, as he now gains full control of the kingdom. After taking over the two opposing kingdoms, Silesia and Lenster, Alvis assumed full, unified control of the continent, and with the full support of the people, he became the first emperor of the Grandbell empire.

Seventeen years since the Battle of Barhara; the people who previously welcomed Emperor Alvis are now experiencing severe hardship under his oppressive rule, and in the surrounding countries under his rule, the people were forced to live like slaves. Isaac was no exception, the severe conditions taking their toll on the people. King Dannan of Isaac was a merciless ruler, taking much after his father, Duke Langbert. He indulged himself in Rivough, the royal palace of Isaac, while all of the Isaacian people were reduced to poverty. Johan, second oldest son of Dannan, presided over Isaac castle, while his youngest son, Johalva, presided over Sophara, leaving Dannan's confidant, general Harold, to administrated the remote Ganeishire castle. He too oppressed the people under his rule.

Fortunately, the people of Isaac were not without hope. Prince Shanan of Isaac has created a liberation army in the isolated northern village of Tilnanogue. Their strength grew day by day, and among them was a soldier who was referred to as the Bringer of Light, and was also revered as the Imperial Prince of Grandbell. He was the young leader of the liberation army, a boy named Serlis.

And so begins the tale of the Inheritors, who shall carry on their parents legacy and bring an end to the threats that built underneath the noses of everyone seventeen years ago.

Dannan speaks with Harold, asking him how his investigation of the rebel army is coming along. He notes their growth each year as well as the fact that they are harboring the son of Sigurd. Harold assures him he has matters under control, saying that they've located the hideout of the rebels, and has sent soldiers in to subdue them. He tells Dannan that he can sit back and relax as they eliminate the threat. Dannan tells him not to underestimate the rebels, since the problem isn't with the younger rebels, it's with Shanan and Oifaye. Harold explains that he planned for them, and has information that those two are presently away from the hideout in Tilnanogue. Dannan also says that he thinks it's time to teach the Isaacian citizens, who have heralded the rebels as liberators, a lesson. He orders Harold to kill every last one of the citizens, and heads back to Rivough to await the good news.

A black-haired myrmidon warns the liberators in Tilnanogue that they've been discovered, and that Ganeishire subjugation forces are incoming. Aira Jr. appears, asking what Scathach is so worried about, saying that they knew they'd be found sooner or later. She feels it's fine for them to come, since it saves us the time of going to them. Scathach calls her Lakche (god these people have crazy names), and calls her crazy, saying that with Shanan and Oifaye gone, how will they stop them. She takes this as a chance to see some action, since they have been well trained, but are still kept out of the fights since they are still seen as kids by Shanan. Lakche is sick of seeing her friends get killed and running away. Serlis appears, noting that Scathach is likely holding back because of him, since Shanan probably gave him orders to keep Serlis out of danger. After some more discussing, Serlis says that they have no time to argue. He tells a girl named Lana to stay within the town, and she too wants to join them, but Serlis says that bringing a nun into a warzone would be a bad idea. She says she has her own way of fighting, and feels just as strongly as Lakche does about this, and so Serlis allows her to join them.

They all step onto the field, so now it's time for something I haven't done in a while; introductions! Serlis is a level Junior Lord with some decent stats, a slim sword, and his dad's ol' silver sword and blade, the return and renewal ring, major Baldo and minor Narga blood, 5790 gold, and the skills pursuit and nihil. Lakche is a level 1 Myrmidon with great bases, an iron and steel blade, a brave sword, major Odo blood, 11172 gold, and the pursuit, nihil, astra, and luna skills. Scathach is a level 1 Myrmidon with some damn nice bases himself, a silver sword, an iron blade, major Odo blood, 11172 gold, and the pursuit, nihil, luna, and astra skills. Lana is a level 1 Priest with decent bases for her class, a silence, sleep, physic, warp, and heal staff, minor Ulir blood, 2534 gold, and the adept and duel skills. Now, with that done, let's get going!

Looking at the foes, they are all pretty mediocre axe wielders save a couple bow armors, so the group of swordsman and their priest friend shouldn't have too much trouble. Scathach has a conversation with Lakche, so I have them start it. They talk a bit, and then try to drudge up some memories of their mother, Aira, but are unable to, and after a bit more talking, Lakche gains one luck. The party easily dispatches the first few foes, their superior armament and stats trouncing the enemies with little issue. Soon, a mustachioed knight and two others ride in, noting that we have already began fighting. A blond knight informs a blue-haired knight named Lester that his sister Lana (so these are Aideen's kids, judging from Lana's staves) might be out here fighting. The blond knight, who is called Delmud, refers to the lead knight as Oifaye (the years have done well to him I see), and they rush to assist Serlis and his friends.

More intros! Lester is a level 1 Archer Knight who has pretty good bases, a silver, iron, killer, and brave bow, minor Ulir blood, 2534 gold, and the adept and duel skills. Delmud is a level 3 Free Knight with okay bases, a slim and iron sword, minor Hezul blood, 3803 gold, and the charisma and bargain skills (so he's one of Lachesis and Dew's kids. Kinda wish he got Sol, but oh well). Oifaye is a level 15 Paladin with good bases for his level, an armor cutter and a javelin, minor Baldo blood, 5000 gold, and the pursuit and critical skills. They charge forward, and Serlis and the party continue smashing the mooks. The rest of the incoming foes are soon dealt with, leaving only the final wave from Ganeishire in our way before we can get some preliminary actions done.

To face the large incoming wave of foes, I park Lester on top of a cliff where only archers can reach him, and he can snipe with impunity, while putting Lakche, Scathach, and Serlis on the mountains, using their great avoid boost to make themselves basically untouchable. Lana stays behind Delmud and Oifaye, waiting to heal anyone who gets hurt after the fray, and Delmud and Oifaye block the mountain paths exit so that no foes can escape. I also notice a brigand aiming to go after a town, so I send Oifaye around the enemies to deal with him while the kids take care of these schmoes.

Shit, I overestimated Lester's dodge, and the bow armors got him. Reset Counter: 11, I think.

I have Oifaye draw a bit of the fire from the party as he heads out, and they get through without too much trouble, although there are some wounds here and there. Lana heals them pretty soon, and then Oifaye sets off to slay the bandit. The party meanwhile heads back to base so they can use the arena to train a bit and earn some cash. I'm treated to the sad discovery that there is no arena in this chapter, as Oifaye finishes the bandit and I prepare to send Serlis through. Ah well, I'll just have the kids take care of Harold and finish this up then. Oifaye goes to meet the kids as the party heads out to Ganeishire, leaving the village he saved for Lana to visit later. After the group runs into Oifaye, he speaks with Serlis, and Serlis asks how things are going in the other countries. Oifaye notes that the oppression has spread to just about every country, and many uprisings have popped up here and there. They talk of the current battle, and agree that they must finish this battle now that they've been forced into it.

Since the Ganeishire guards didn't move, I take the chance to move everyone around them and strike fast and hard. Lester glows before firing his shot, and it seems he got a Power of Love crit from Lana! I see that those can take effect through familial love as well, eh? Cool. He made short work of a knight with that attack, and then speaks with Lana. He tells her to be careful, since mother would be heartbroken if she got hurt (oh, so Aideen lived? that's good to hear), and Lana counters saying that she was also told that they were greatly indebted to the people of Isaac, and should do whatever they can to help them. Lester agrees, and asks where their mother is now, and Lana explains that she's working at a convent in Tilnanogue. He tells her that they must keep safe for the sake of their mother and missing father (poor Jamka...), and she agrees. This boosts Lana's luck, and then the attack on Ganeishire continues. Once the knights are taken down, Serlis places himself right in front of the main gate, challenging Harold while Delmud keeps close to give him a Charisma boost, and Lana heals those wounded in the fighting.

Serlis takes on the axe-wielding Harold fairly easily, though his foes defense makes him a tough nut to crack. As it stands, Serlis slowly whittles him down while Lester helps from the sides, and Harold falls shortly thereafter. Lana finishes healing everyone, and then goes to claim the village to the north, earning both some valuable info (Burian, Dannan's eldest son is in Grandbell, and Johan and Johalva both have a thing for Lakche, they are always quarreling, and they are nice. So they are recruitable, and I know who can recruit them!) and 1000 gold.

Once Lana returns to the group, I have Serlis seize Ganieshire, and he notes that the castle and village have been thoroughly messed up. Suddenly, King Levin of Silesia (hi dude, wassup? I see the immolation hasn't changed you too much) appears and surprises Serlis. Levin asks him to drop the "king" part, since after Grandbell seized Silesia proceeding the battle of Barhara, he's had to escape and live as a bard again. He mentions that his mother died in Silesia, and then comments on Serlis and the liberation army making their first moves. Serlis notes that while they've begun, it'd be a whole lot easier if Shanan were here. Levin asks if he went to that Yied Shrine, and Serlis says that he did, heading there due to hearing that the Balmung was there. Apparently, rumor has it a Dark Bishop governs that area, so everyone's a bit worried for him. Levin then asks Serlis if he would accept a favor, and Serlis agrees wholeheartedly. Levin calls in a girl named Julia, who he found wounded in Barhara when she was little. He took her to a remote area of Silesia and has been raising her this whole time, but things got a bit tough there, so he came here. He says that he needs to head to Lenster, and she'd slow him down, so he asks of Serlis will take care of her while he's gone. Levin notes that she doesn't seem to have any memories of before he rescued her, and Serlis agrees to take care of her.

After Levin leaves, Serlis assures Julia that he will protect her, even despite his current lack of strength. He promises to grow strong and protect everyone, just like his father did.

Before we leave, I will do Julia's intro. She's a level 1 Shaman with pretty solid bases, no items, 2000 gold, the pursuit, adept, and nihil skills, and major Narga... and minor Fala blood...

Holy shit she's Alvis and Dierdre's daughter.

Uh, well damn, with that, I'll be seeing you guys next time!

Scathach is more commonly known as Skasaher and I will probably refer to him as such. The thing that bugs me is that they made Skasaher into Scathach, but not Lakche into Luchtaine. If you are going to change names to match the mythology, don't half ass it. Geez.

As for Adean living, if you paired up every female in the first gen, I think the only one who isn't implied to have survived Barhara (even if they died later) is Ira. For some reason. Levn has a reason why he is still alive too, in case you are wondering, but it's spoilers.

As for Yuria (Julia, whatever. This one doesn't matter) the next castle you capture will which starting tome you get for Yuria. After you take the castle, Celice will be able to talk to Yuria. Taking Isaac first gets her Resire, while taking Sophara first gets you Aura. It is recommended to go for Resire.

On the same note, Luchtaine (I am so calling her that now) can recruit one of Johan and Johalva, but not the other. I think it is possible to recruit one then take the other castle to pick up Yuria's tome, but eh.

Ah, so it's another funny little translation thing, eh? I think I'd prefer their "incorrect" names, since they roll off the tongue easier (though Lakche and Luchtaine are both rather odd sounding) rather than their mythologically correct names, although I admit I prefer how their correct names sound.

Oh, so all the paired girls live save for Aira? That's nice to know, even if they did die later on. I was wondering why Levin lived, but thanks for not sharing since it's a spoiler.

So I should aim to get Isaac first then? Resire is Nosferatu right? I can see why I'd want to get that. Thanks also for warning me that the brothers are mutually exclusive. I'll look them over and see which one strikes my fancy.
