Whatever he was Seeking, he certainly didn't find it.

Instead, he found a presently racist wyvern knight and a tiger that was not a fan of his current antics. Also, first boss-name pun in this run. The bosses in this game don't really have very punnable names, do they?

Ike: Fought off a couple of crows at the beginning before Jill showed up, and then took a back seat and provided additional cover for Mist.

Soren: MVP (I should make an effort to add that more often), he absolutely destroyed any crows that he could reach and weren't already claimed by Jill. He took out the vast majority of them, especially before Jill came along, and intercepted many of them before they reached anyone else.

Mist: Was busy this chapter, healing the wounds of anyone the fairly accurate and just-strong-enough-to-be-annoying crows hurt. She hid behind Ike, Mordecai, and sometimes Soren should a crow be able to reach her in that situation, since flying foes are absolutely annoying for the presently defenseless Mist. She's doing well otherwise, and should class-change fairly soon.

Mordecai: Spent most of the chapter in human form, since the crows attacked so inconsistently, but when he did fight, he tore the crows apart, since they couldn't even hurt him. He took out a couple of them, and then finished off Seeker, after Jill had weakened him for some experience.

Jill: Has Joined the Party! She fought a lot thanks to her Laguzguard helping her in this situation, and took out as many crows as I could get her to. After Seeker decided to make his move, she intercepted him and hurt him as much as she could, before luring him on to the ship, getting healed, and then going after another crow while Mordecai took down the boss.

Seeker: Actually fairly tough, though that's because Jill was fighting him. She intercepted him, but let him attack first, and she hit him with her lance, then backed off and attacked from afar with a javelin. He closed the distance, and she missed with her attack, but got another two smacks and had to get healed. After Seeker attacked her again, she stabbed him and Mordecai followed up on the player phase to kill him.

VS Seeker: This one appears to be the leader of these sub-human monsters. His death will make a fine tale once I return to Daein!

Jill flew off the Crimean's ship, having healed in preparation, and readied her lance as she hovered between the pirate and his plunder. She charged forward, ready to impale the enormous bird, when it easily dodged the strike, flying in a wide arc to the left and turning quickly to ram into her. She quickly pulled herself back into position, and was slammed into her wyvern's back when her foe kicked the back of her helm with talons as sharp as knives. The crow turned once again, this time ignoring her completely and attempting to fly past her to the ship.

It's so fast... But I will not be made a fool of by an uppity half-breed!

She gave a curt tug of the reins, turning and flying as swiftly as her wyvern could carry her, between the crow and his destination, leading a strike to meet him halfway. She connected, her lance cutting into his chest as he turned back to her. He quickly brought his dagger sharp beak down upon her, and she felt her sight blur as the impact hit her helm. He struck again, and this time dug into her left arm, making the limb go numb. She recollected herself as she told her wyvern to fly higher and brought out a javelin, lobbing the projectile down at the crow, who barely dodged it, and still ended up with a nasty cut on his wing. She quickly flew further towards the ship, the crow gaining on her, and she felt talons slice into her back soon afterwards. Her attempt at stabbing him with one of her javelins failed as he flew back, taunting her, before this time diving and raking his talons across her wyverns head.

Damned birdman, it's playing with me right now. I need to heal, or I won't be able to keep fighting. I need to retreat to the ship.

She quickly flew onto the ship, the crow hovering steadily above her, watching her as she landed and attempted to pull out a Vulnerary. A young girl with a staff ran forward, and before Jill could yell at her that she didn't require her help, both her and her wyverns wounds were being healed, and she heard the crow shriek in terror. She turned and saw a large tiger interposed between the crow and her.

"G-Gallian!"

"Stealing is wrong. I must punish you if others will not!"

She starred in awe as the tiger leaped into the air, slicing the birds wings and pushing off it, sending the crow careening into the ocean.

First, the girl healed me, and then the sub-human struck down the crow that was going to attack me? Why? Even in spite of the truce, the girl should no doubt see me as a foe, and a half-beast saving a human is completely against what I had learned from father... I have to find out more about these people, and figure out what is wrong in this group...

That one was a doozy! I get the feeling writing fights from the perspective of a flying unit is going to make them long, since I need to work all the movements in there, and I have another plane of movement to work with.

Up Next: A Guiding Wind, where I fight off more crows, mixed in with Daein troops!

Comment Question: So, this question will probably show up from time to time, but what did you think of the VS Section? Did you enjoy reading it? Was I able to keep the characters, well, in character? Share your thoughts!

I think your VS Sections thus far were quite well-done. Characterization seems splendid, and they're certainly apt descriptions of how each boss encounter went. Additionally, while I've already stated that a summary of most things in as Strategy RPG is best, fleshing out major conflicts such as the boss fights adds thrill that makes your blog unique, and allows the audience to feel connected with the characters.

This VS Section was especially nice, as Jill's inner thoughts would never be known to the player, but what you've written clearly matches up with what she must have been feeling and her motives for joining Ike. I also enjoyed Soren's actions back in Chapter 7, when the opponent failed to score even a point of damage. Here's hoping that more wonderful battles such as these will await us viewers in the future!

...Oh, and happy holidays!

Happy holidays to you too! I'm glad you enjoyed reading these, and I'm hoping I can make the other sections more in-depth with the character like this one. Hopefully now that supports are starting to develop, that'll be able to be fit in better. Thanks for sharing!

Playing this on Hard now, just thought of coming back to your blog to see the early chapters (such as this one which I just finished amazingly without any deaths, although Marcia and Jill both came really close).

Rolf was technically my MVP, and he did his part, but I'd say Soren adepting all over the place and Jill criticalling an enemy who would have killed her on his second attack were probably the best.

I'm glad you're enjoying this game. Good job making it through this chapter without any deaths, as it can get tough if you don't know what to expect.

On the subject of MV Ps, I never remember to add those to these updates, aside from this one...
