ThatOneBoss # 1 - Matador

.......and the one most people never get past. For this entry, as well as the remaining boss entries, I'll start with a video guide, and supplement with text. These guides are for Hard Mode, so Normal Mode players may be able to change things up a bit:

Youtube Video Guide

(NOTE: I am having trouble embedding this, which is why I am using a hotlink instead)

(a side note for those curious about the commentary, my gameplay vids were originally based on personalities from my other youtube channels, which in turn were based on actual game characters, I dropped it with the Daisoujou vid)

To simplify what was said in the video, you buff your agility while debuffing his (debuff a maximum of 3 times) and don't debuff anything else. (You can actually just do one or the other, but if you're going to choose just one, choose to buff your own agility, since you can buff it to full without Matador undoing it.) Force immunity helps, but isn't as necessary as some make it out to be. Although since, by this point, you will have something which will make the Demi-Fiend Force immune, there's no reason not to.

Also, the biggest threat really is where he uses taunt and Andalucia. Though it lowers HIS defense, it also lowers yours, which is enough to make it a threat when you can potentially get hit so many times by it. This is yet another reason to buff your agility to the max, and, if you can, debuff his 3 times. It is also the reason you will need Media, as it is difficult to survive just a single round of it, so if you can't fully heal the party in time......

And, well, that's about it.

You know, despite enjoying the game and having played many other Tensei titles, I don't think I ever fought this boss. The legendary difficulty told in various guides and blogs was enough to dissuade me from ever challenging the Matador before, but with that tip on agility buffs, I might be motivated to pull that game back out of my cabinet and get a bit farther during the upcoming winter holidays. Thanks for taking the time to try and help others through the challenging ordeals that this game throws at you!
