Go To

A Real Adventure (and some late night creeping)

When we last left off, we had just flew on a magic carpet back from the island of misfit toys, and we had been given the mission of saving Halloween from the Easter Bunny. Wait a second, that doesn't sound right. Let me check my notes.

Oh yes that's right I had just been trying to tame some monsters while I had my ass handed to me. Like a brave little toaster I ran away with my tail between my legs so I could lick my wounds. Back on the main land, I was getting ready to plan my next move now that I had three little sheep things in my barn. Sure I could go over to the bath house and get an instant heal, but I still had much of my health left. Really what I needed was either food or time to relax. While the posting on the board to go hunt monsters seemed tempting, I figured I could instead take one of the easier jobs first so I could recover naturally. I didn't tell you all most of that because well I was thinking about a lot of this stuff while waiting for my day to finish.

Now that we are back in the game, I see we have a number of easy looking quests. I could get Joe a bottle of wine, buy a legendary spear from Sierra, play some riddle games with Kelsey, or even go on a treasure hunt with Quinn. Of course Kelsey was also still looking for some grass, and Bacchus wanted me to kill some monsters.

As answering riddles suggests no physical activity other than finding Kelsey, I sign myself up for that job. From there I start to jog over to the where the map says his current location while talking to people as I pass them on the street. Odette informs me that Electra's birthday is coming up but not to get her any jewelry. Once I find Kelsey, he asks me “What do you call a grumpy buffamoo?” and I realize this isn't a riddle at all but instead a pun. So I of course go with the answer “Moody” and receive a wonderful gift in return. I can't though figure out what that gift is, as I don't see anything new in my inventory.

From there, I decide that as I've heard rumors about it being Electra's birthday soon, that I should perhaps try to figure out more about that. As she's currently in the mansion, I decide to stop there after I first stop at the blacksmith shop. Unfortunately I've been moving fairly faster from task to task, and the smithy is still closed. Once I reach the mansion, I speak with the maid and the mother but learn nothing useful other than confirmation that Electra's big day is coming up. Neither of them tell me an exact date, and Electra and Sierra are talking behind a locked door so I can't learn more from either of them yet.

That leaves heading back to the Inn and picking up another job and perhaps catching Lily on the way. Sadly, Lily has nothing new to tell me so I head inside and grab the treasure hunting job. While tracking down Quinn I see that people have moved about on the map, suggesting that perhaps Electra and Sierra will be out from that locked room now. I also see that Oddette is up at the Dragon Shrine, and instinct tells me that if someone is up there that they'll likely have some unique dialog options.

Again I'm disappointed, because Electra and Sierra sure are taking there time doing whatever it is they are doing behind closed doors. On the other hand, Oddette up at the shrine reveals to me that the dragon can grant wishes in exchange for gold. One of the things it can do is tell me about the people of the island. I am tempted to spend the money to figure out exact details on Electra's birthday, but ultimately decide that's not really a good use of my funds.

Deciding my best course of action at this point will be to finish this treasure hunting job, I leave the shrine for now and head on over to Quinn to get the details. But first, on the way there the clock turns over to 9am and as I'm just outside the door to the smithy when that happens I decide to head inside if it'll open for me. Inside I see Elena (who wants to study my golem) and her sales golem (who wants to sell me stuff). I also notice that a crafting location is now open to me, and that with the right materials I can craft a wide selection of weapons. Nothing jumps out at me though as something that I need to spend time or money on right now, so I once again start making my way toward Quinn.

Quinn tells me that the treasure she hid is in a holy spot overlooking the the village, and as the only holy spots I can think of are the church and the dragon shrine, I take a quick look around the church just to be sure it's not here and then head on up to the dragon shrine. Of course on my way there I stop once again at the mansion in the hopes that those two girls will be done playing with each other.

An odd turn of events happens when I reach the mansion. Electra is unwilling to talk about her own birthday, and I suppose that makes sense as we don't know each other that well and if she did bring it up it would seem like she was just fishing for presents. Sierra though mentions that today is the birthday of herself and Bismark her brother. She then goes on about how she bought a present for herself, and that Bismark had also gotten her a gift. Because of this she gave the present she had originally got for herself to her brother to make up for him having gotten nothing.

While I don't learn more about Electra's birthday, I do at least learn Sierra's birthday and that she likes accessories. I also learn that she thinks mostly of herself, but when reminded she'll think of others. Keeping in mind that it is her birthday, I decide to keep my eyes out for something she like. I consider if I should get Bismark a gift too, and ultimately decide that I'll be nice and get them both a hot milk that I heated myself. There is though no rush on that, as long as I get it done before the end of the day. For now I continue on up to the dragon shrine looking for treasure.

Up at the shrine I find a bird feather, that is apparently the treasure I was looking for and I rush that on back to Quinn not wanting to waste more of the day on this task. She confirms that is indeed the treasure and that now I get to keep it. Realizing that the teleport works anywhere, I quick travel back to my room and from there head into the inn to sign up for more work.

In the Inn, I grab a couple of milk to turn into hot milk, and as I plan on going directly to Sierra with the milk, I also grab the quest to buy a spear from her. On my way out of the Inn, I make a quick stop at the store to give Bismark his milk and take a moment to talk with him. Finally he tells me something useful about Electra's birthday and that is that it's on the sixth meaning I have plenty of time to find her something better than hot milk.

Soon I've given both Bismark and Sierra their gifts, and gotten myself a nice new spear for the low low price of 1000G because of that special offer on the board. After all this time, I'm still fairly wounded from my first trip to the island but I'm at least fully rested, so I head back to the inn to grab the hunting job and then head on over to find the job giver so he can give me the details. What he needs me to do is hunt down five goblins, and while that seems easy enough I realize I'm not fully sure how to get back to my golem or that island sense I teleported away.

It seems obvious to me that my first order of business should be to head back to my house and save it so I can figure these things out without worry of wasting an entire day if I miss something stupidly obvious. While inside, I double check that the calendar did update with the three birthdays I learned, and sure enough there they are with cake icons and everything.

Back outside, I figure the first place I should check for the Golem is the first place I even saw it figuring it might have gone back there on its own. While it didn't do that, there is now a mystic door down on the ledge that's just begging me to go through. The door appears to open up off the cliff edge suggesting that if I went through it I would either fall to my death or at least end up in the sea below. But as it's so clearly magical I figure it's safe to go through and Syntic agrees with me that we should throw caution to the wind and give it a try. Yivvy suggests we remain cautious but ultimately agrees that it is his body.

On the other side of the door, I find that I am now just outside the door imbedded in Delzbin's head and that he's remained at monster island ready for more adventure. First making sure that Warm, Puffy, and Wool are still coming with me, I head down to the island and start looking for goblins to kill with my new spear.

While it doesn't take me long to take out the goblins, I quickly decide that the cumbersome attack style isn't for me and switch back to my duel blades. I also encounter a cow like monster, and make sure I tame it. It's then that I realize that taming monsters takes more stamina than just killing them, but as I'm fairly sure this monster will provide me with free milk I figure the cost out ways the gain. As a side note, I should also mention that I noticed that there really isn't a reason to fight monsters unless they are getting in your way or you have a specific job to fight them. At least at these low levels, they are easy enough to dodge. This is important because jumping and running don't take stamina while attacking and taming do. Better to save that energy for a monster you actually want to deal with.

After I succeed in taming the cow monster, it suggests the name Milky and that seems good enough for me. As I still have plenty of time left in the day I decide, that I should spend some time collecting monsters with what energy I have remaining. My goal is 4 sheep and 4 cows, so that I have a full barn before the end of the day. Getting my last sheep is easy enough, and it defaults to the name Puffy. As I already have a Puffy, I change it to Fluffy. I know original aren't I?

While searching the island for more cows I find a glowing tree stump that gives me three spirits when I search it. Not sure what those do for me other than the description saying something about reviving petrified islands. As this island doesn't seem petrified right now and because nobody has mentioned anything about petrified islands yet, I decide to just hang onto them for later.

It takes nearly all the energy I have and most of my health but by 4:15pm I've filled my barn with my goal, yet I find out once I escape to the barn that I still actually have 2 slots left. Luckily for me, I still have a bath trip I can make today, so I'm not to worried about getting one more sheep and one more cow.

Back on the mainland after my bath, I find the guy that gave me the quest to hunt down those goblins and turn it in for a reward of a tasty fish. Back at the Inn, I take the quest to get Joe a bottle of win, and even buy a bottle but notice when I look at my map to track him down that he's no where to be seen. I figure he'll show up soon though so decide to head back to the monster island to finish my collection before the end of the day.

Just as it turns six, I've finished catching the last monster I need and decide that sense I still have so much energy left that I'll do a quick run around the perimeter of the island looking for any easy to reach treasure. I soon find a stump with another spirit in it, and some snake like plants that have a long range attack (still easy to dodge). As the island is fairly small I soon find a treasure chest that as triggers YACS when I try to open it. This cut scene introduces a goblin pirate and his crew that want the treasure for themselves, and after some not so witty banter a fight begins.

I'm all hoping this is going to be a challenging fight, but I happen to level up right at the start of the battle putting me up to full health and stamina making the rest of the fight a breeze. Inside the chest I find a recovery potion, but nothing that seems like it should have been a target for pirates. Further exploring the island though I find a large glowing pillar in the center of the island that seems to have what the pirates had actually been looking for.

This treasure is defended by three goblins that I quickly dispatch with ease. Once they are defeated a the pillar stops glowing and a treasure chest appears, and inside is a sea chart. Syntic and Yivvy have a quick conversation about the chart and decide that with the help of Delzbin they can use this chart to travel the sea to new locations.

As it's starting to get late, I begin to get ready to leave the island I recall in the images of the island when we first found it, that there had been a treasure chest on the top of some rocks near this pillar. After a moments checking I find that I can climb to the top of the rocks, and sure enough there is a nice treasure chest with a belt inside. A quick check of the belt before I put it on shows me that it actually has a star rating and will raise my attack and magic defense a touch and my regular defense even more. Its best trait though is that it also raises my max health the most.

I then teleport back to Delzbin and go into my barn so I can brush all my new monsters, making them even happier. While on Delzbin I get a quick message that I can now use him to travel the sea, but as I'm so low on energy I decide to save that for the next day. Instead I head back to the main island and head into the Inn. While Joe is still MIA, I notice that the board has a new quest to amazingly enough find an island that's good for animals. While Joe's quest has a green icon, this new quest has a gold icon, so I gather that it's a storyline quest. As it's a bit late to do anything for either one, I head on over to Lily and ask her to play some music.

She plays a nice bit of music that reminds me of adventure and travel. It like most of her music isn't really a full bit of music but instead just a clip of music that really should have more to it. After her bit of music, I'm tempted to have my character head to bed, but a quick look at the map shows people are still wandering around even though it is past 9pm. I figure now is as good a time as any to see if this island has any night life.

Unfortunately it seems that the only thing going on is the twins are at the bathhouse, and everyone else was just finishing their trips home for the night. At the bathhouse hoping for some sort of cut scene I'm further disappointed to find that all that's going on is that Sierra is in the girls side of the baths, and her brother is waiting over in the lobby for her to finish. Taking on the creepy stalker roll, I find that they leave the baths at precisely ten and head back home. Someone else goes into the baths (the blacksmith's brother not that I care) at this time. At 10:27 Sierra has made it to her room, and her brother has lagged far enough behind that she was completely out of his view for sometime. It's not until 10:57 that the brother finally makes it back, meaning that Sierra was unattended for a full half hour.

Well enough of my creepy late night behavior, time to save and head to bed. I wonder what's in store for tomorrow?
