Interlude: Sealed Cave

Hi all, today, we're headed for the Sealed Cave! Sigh... Let's hop on the Falcon and head into the Underworld.

Meanwhile, in Eblan Castle...

Your Highness, we will gladly guard the castle in your stead. However... You are aware that the celebration in Damcyan ended hours ago, are you not?

Edge: Well, might as well see that for myself!

I don't think Edward's the type to hold an after party, to be honest.

Very well, Your Highness. Be careful.

Edge: When am I ever not careful?

Do you want them in chronological order, or should I just say Rubicante and leave it at that?

O-of course, Your Highness! I didn't mean to suggest...

Edge: That's more like it. I'll be back in a bit!

He leaves, and we are now only just reaching Agart. Everybody except our main characters don't know how to fly these things. We can talk to everyone. Apparently, Luca's pretty good with airships. Maybe if she were flying, we'd be at the Sealed Cave already.

After talking to everyone, we reach the Sealed Cave. The dwarves on the Falcon have shops ready to go for us. Most of our equipment is OK, but we do buy an Index Finger, a strong weapon that deals extra damage to Flans. Why can't we just poke the enemies, then?

Something to note is that Cid has a Dwarven Axe. This weapon is a throwing weapon, so he can do full damage from the back row. So why not put him there?

The Trap Doors are here, but we don't have Reflect! Luckily, I have a Plan B: Beat the crap out of them. I thought they were vulnerable to Stop, but they don't seem to be. Maybe that's just TAY.

There really isn't much new here, unless you count "my eternal annoyance". They did leave plenty of Phoenix Downs and Ethers here though, which considering the number of Trap Doors we're up against, is nice. Palom learns Break during our assault on the six doors in a row, which doesn't really help. We do, however, find Cid's Gaia Hammer, which does help.

Near the end of the dungeon, Porom learns Haste. This could prove useful.

We reach the end and...

Cecil: ...!

Porom: What is it, Cecil?

The walls start moving. Not again...

Palom: All right! Looks like we'll finally have a foe worthy of the future sage Palom!

Cid: Th-the wall is coming at us!?

And now we get to fight the Demon Wall. Well, what did you expect? Slow it, Haste our party, spam any strong attack magic. It's not rocket science.

And now we can proceed to the Crystal Chamber, where we find Rydia, unconscious.

Cecil: Rydia!?

Cid: What's she doin' here!?

Palom: What a girl. She can even sleep in a place like this?

Porom hits him. Well deserved.

Porom: She's not sleeping, you fool!

Cecil: Rydia... Can you hear me?

Rydia gets up. Phew... she's OK.

Rydia: Where am I...?

Cecil: You're in the Sealed Cave. Why didn't you come to Damcyan like you were supposed to?

Rydia: I... must go...

Porom: You don't look too good, Rydia.

Cid: No point in dallying here. Let's take her back to the Falcon, Cecil.

Cecil: Oh... Yes. At once.

Rydia joins us at level 32, but with no Summons. Huh. And while that Minerva Bustier she has isn't doing anything for her Intellect, it's not like we've got anything better. And boy, is she fast with that thing on.

We reach the entrance, and Rydia tries to leave without us.

Cecil: Rydia!?

Rydia: They're... calling me...

Porom: Who's...?

Palom: ..."they"?

Rydia: ...

Cid: What is going on in your head, girl!?

Cecil: Let's get her out of here.

Well, this is really odd.

OK, that's over. Yay. I have one thing to say.

Screw this place. Screw the Trap Doors, screw the Demon Wall, screw the Goddamn Bats, screw the fact that we had to go through without Reflect, and SCREW WHOEVER THOUGHT THAT GOING THROUGH THIS PLACE WITHOUT REFLECT IS A GOOD IDEA! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! DAMN YOU SEALED CAVE! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH RRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, next time, more stuff happens.

This is where I decided that I didn't want to play Interlude.

And yeah, it is just the After Years Trap Doors that are weak to Stop.

Is there anyone who likes fighting Trap Doors and Demon Walls?

Does liking using Reflect against Trap Doors count?

Maybe. That still does not justify forcing so many fights without Reflect available. Wait, were there any items in interlude which can cast Reflect like Veils etc.?

I don't recall encountering any yet, but I think there might be one or two Lunar Curtains around. The amount of Ethers the dungeon gives out makes it more of an easy annoyance as long as they don't target Porom.
