Some of my Dollmages had too much alignment to be promoted, so I use Debonaire to recruit Dollmasters to replace them. You will notice I have several units turn into their final promotions. We have indeed crossed into the second half of the game. My goal will be to finalize our army, figure out what works, what doesn't, for when we finally confront Endora and Rashidi.
I've saddled Debonair with a Gold Dragon (Fenril's actually), a cherubim, and a shaman.
Scene 16: The Snow Fields
As the title says it, this is our first snow map◊. These will be more and more common with each passing level from now on. One thing to understand is I did the levels way out of order. This level is supposed to be tackled when we are about level 12-13 or so. I waited so long for two reasons. First, because I wanted the Dragoons* also because there's a special confrontation between the boss and Debonaire** , but thing is, most of my units are level 16 to 18 by now, which means they would loose alignment with each fight. This means it's time for my evil units to shine! But basically, I am overqualified for this level. There's one unit containing ravenmen and phantoms, so I may want to equip of my evildoers with white magic items so they can deal with them. We will still deploy a few high Alignment units for town liberation duties. The goal is to have them free the town, then pull away from the front lines. If a high Ali unit gets in battle, it's best to have them retreat than risk damaging their alignments.
Gallstadt gets me XIV: Temperance.
The temple SW of the base gets me XVIII: Moon. Suntsubal gets me XVII: Star.
Ethel Stands gets me another XIV: Temperance.
Glyng'Bry gets me II: Priestess, a card that is becoming more and more obsolete.
Bosetyn got me III: Empress. There we meet a monk.
Meanwhile, Warren plows past a cleric and two golems, as well as an angel and 3 ninjas. What a joke. Belgen is freed, getting me VI: Lovers. Tronheim gives another XIV: Temperance.
Figaro, as it turns out, does not have a Platinum dragon, but two mere black dragons, no match for Debonair and his Silver Dragon. His "special" move is lunge, which hits like Ianuiki, without the loss of health on his end. Still, an easy fight for Debonair. Figaro's sword, Durandal, is a black elemental sword with +12 strength. Eitherway, this General Vs General fight is not nearly as even as it sounds. Soon, the devas are down to two remaining members.
There's no reason to re-visit this stage.
Next time: We fight one of Rashidi's pupils, and find a lost hero of the people.
