Prologue: Welcomes and information

Hello, all who are currently reading this! This is the opening page of what will be the storage place for all my liveblogs of the Fire Emblem series of games. In here, I will be updating chapter by chapter as I play through the games and hopefully make those updates as fun to read as possible!

The next page will be a Table of Contents, since this will eventually get fairly large, and it will make categorizing which games are being covered in which liveblog installments much easier.

Continue forth onto the next page, and hopefully enjoy your time reading!

You know, I really like how this chapter's map and the battlefield of 5x fit together so well. They take place in the same general area, but 5x reveals the northwestern corner and urges you to approach the throne from the passages surrounding it, while Chapter 8 takes away that route but reveals more of the south, focusing more on separation into an eastern and western force that reunites in front of the throne. There's even a wall that's cracked in 8 that's perfectly fine in 5x, showing how Ephraim's struggle has taken its toll on the structure.

As for Natasha...her choices are Valkyrie and female Bishop. They both wield staves and light tomes, but Valkyrie gets additional movement an constitution from riding a horse, and Bishops deal additional damage against monsters. You might not be doing the Creature Campaign stuff or any of the monster-filled bonus dungeons, but there are also monsters encountered during the main plot. But on the other hand, the majority of your foes will still be regular humans, and it's always nice to have a healer that doesn't lag behind the rest of your force. Plus, while Natasha is the only possible female Bishop, only one other person can become a Valkyrie, while both Moulder and Artur could be Bishops in a run where every character is used. So in the end, I think it would be best of Natasha was a Valkyrie.

I think that this run is going quite well thus far, and I wish you the best of luck in the battles to come.

Bishops get Slayer and are generally cool. Valkyries get horses and are generally cool...

I'd go Bishop. Monsters show up enough in the main story where a monster buster might come in handy, especially in the later chapters.

The Draco-Zombies will haunt my dreams.

Oh a tie. Darn. Hm, for the sake of breaking this, I will defer to the class which I use less often for her, which in this case is Valkyrie. If another person places a vote towards one or the other, then I will of course note that that solidifies the decision, but until then, Natasha will be a Valkyrie upon promoting.

@Endark: I never noticed the shifted symmetry between the levels, I will admit. I've noted some similarity before, but didn't even think about how it affected the actual thematics of the level, such as how it now leads towards the center, or how the wall shows damage. Very interesting, I must say. I note that I probably won't do an "every character run" since I feel I wouldn't be able to give enough attention to everyone, but I do still view the classes in terms of who can become what, so I still note that aspect of your analysis.

@Otherarrow: Yeah, Slayer does prove quite useful (although I find it funny that the Ivaldi is basically useless on bishops because it only does double damage, while Slayer is triple, making Aura just as effective, if not more. And I can agree on the Draco-Zombies thing. They are the worst, what with their defense piercing and high accuracy leading to high damage on just about anyone.
