Seven Characters? Amazing Axes? A First time for Everything?! Barrylocke Drafts Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword
Oh, you're getting detailed. Good read so far!

Out of curiousity, I tried both routes and got the same turncount (8). The bottom is definitely more dangerous for Matthew though, unless Hector stops to kill every enemy (which he didn't).

If either of us had drafted Matthew, top path would be faster by two or three turns—he can help Hector bust through the wall on the first move and not get blocked in.

Yeah, that wall took two turns to break through, which kinda sucked
Barrylocke
Man, you really should start using that Wolf Beil. Trust me, you're saving it for nothing. By the time it breaks, there are other axes you can use without too much trouble, but at the beginning? Essential.

Yeah, as I said in the topic, Hector probably needs his prf weapon least of all the lords. Cavalry and armor usually have lances, axes have good might, and Hector has high defense. Eliwood and Lyn are Fragile Speedsters and often on the wrong end of the weapon triangle.
montagohalcyon
Well now that I have some iron axes, I won't need it as much anyways, but if a pesky cavalier or armor knight gets in my way, I'll be sure to keep your advice in mind.
Barrylocke
Oh, really? I guess I'll add a turn on mine then.

I'm curious, where did you keep your non-drafted units? On the island, or move them to a corner like I had to?
montagohalcyon
I didn't have a good vantage point of everything since I didn't give Matthew the torch, so I kept them all on the island. It got tough near the end, and as my blog says, I lost Lowen in the process.
Barrylocke
Those northern chests are hard to get; Hector went straight for the top and barely made it in time to stop the thief—he already had the door open. Kent could move faster but probably wouldn't survive the trip.

Merlinus retreated in my file too; I had Oswin and Marcus blocking him and sent Marcus to help rescue Caelin soldiers instead.

Ironically one of those soldiers ended up dying when the reinforcements got past Oswin. The soldiers AND Merlinus would've been fine if I'd just made up my mind...
montagohalcyon
Oh yeah, and congrats on Kent. He turned out awesome for me first time I played and ever since he's been strength-screwed by a LOT.
montagohalcyon
Wow, you managed to get a support with someone who wasn't even drafted?! That's impressive...
montagohalcyon
Good write-up, too bad about Raven.

Where was Dart during all this?
montagohalcyon
Ah, I didn't mention him, did I? He went in the interior route and cleared it out.
Barrylocke
enjoying this
Envyus
I guess having a cavalier and not caring about the items or Wallace lets you end pretty fast...if you had Ninian could you finish in one turn?
montagohalcyon
Damn! After seeing that Lucius, I will not complain about my Florina again!

At least your Kent is blessed (He's been going to the gym, I see) and two extra Berserkers never hurt.
JonnasN
I kinda doubt it montago. The key factors for this was Lloyd attacking us from just the right spot, plus some lucky hits for the less accurate members of the group.
Barrylocke
So if you don't hire Farina, does she keep fighting or just stay wherever Hector is?
montagohalcyon
She actually exited the map iirc. Basically what happened was that I had Hector talking to her, forgetting that I had spent over the 20K Gold amount when I was shopping on this very map. Im not sure what happens if I have Hector ignore her though.
Barrylocke
What's the meaning of the title?
montagohalcyon
I actually can't remember. I'm sure It'll come to me though.
