New Recruits Tend To Drown A Lot
I applaud your efforts! Looking forward to seeing the blog catch up and move on again.

But family and holidays come first.
TriggerLoaded
Family, holidays, and work, actually >.>

kor
I also reccomend research into how to pronounce Zrbite.
TriggerLoaded
I pronounce it "Zer-bite", myself.

(Although it could be pronounced "Zer-bitty" or "Zrib-ite" too.)
RangerSix
"Zer-bite" most definitely.

What are they going to do with his bloodied, demoted corpse once he reaches Siberia?
DemoralizedAnt
That's exactly what I and many other players thought before one of those missions...

Before the whole squad is wiped out by Lobstermen.

Seriously, those guys are brutal if you don't get better weapons quickly. Just one can kill an entire squad of Aquanauts and then rip apart the sub they came in with their bare claws.

A few notes:

I discovered - quite by accident - that you can shoot away part of the railing around the "observation port" in the room above the Synodium Device.

This allows you to have an Aquanaut walk onto the device, drop an explosive of some kind (in this case, a Magna-Blast Grenade), and walk back into the room above the device. When you end your turn, the explosive detonates and destroys the Synodium Device, and you've effectively neutralized the colony without having to fight your way through hordes of Lobstermen.

Also, even though I had one of the other Aquanauts take the unconscious Arilou back to the entrance lift, the game still listed her as MIA. However, since she technically didn't die on this mission, I gave her name to a newly-recruited Aquanaut

This is why there's commentary in the "Commander's Log" following this entry about her being listed as both MIA and a new recruit, an incident which I kinda-sorta handwaved as being due to a glitch in the personnel database.

As noted in the earlier iteration of this liveblog, I have no clue what caused the mission to end with all remaining aliens KO'd.

I'm not going to argue with the results, though.

Acceptable losses, collateral damage, and all that. We're fighting a war for survival, here.
TriggerLoaded
Oh, I know. But the civilians are going to complain no matter what.
RangerSix
Okay, looks like I didn't screenshot the funding report for September 2040.

I could have sworn I did, though . . .
RangerSix
A two-purpose post.

1: To let you know that yes, I am reading this.

2: To remind me of where I left off the next time you update.
TriggerLoaded
Yeah, I've been meaning to update this for some time, but with the way my work schedule (and the weather - WHY HELLO THERE ICE STORM THANKS FOR VISITING AND PLAYING MERRY HELL WITH THE ELECTRICITY YOU BASTARD) has been lately . . . it's been difficult, to say the least.

If all goes according to plan, though, I should be able to start working through the backlog either tomorrow or Monday.
RangerSix
They attacked the Steve Irwin? Those bastards! Make 'em pay!
TriggerLoaded
Oh, we will may them pay. WE'LL MAKE THEM PAY IN BLOOD!

(And, if all goes according to plan, you'll see just how we made them pay come the morrow.)
RangerSix
We got the job done, and that's what matters.

(In other news, this is another marking post.)
TriggerLoaded
Side note: I don't know why, but for some reason there was no entry for "X-Com Weapons System Destroyed" at the end of this mission, when there should have been.
