* AntiClimaxBoss: Elisa and Sarah, the champions of Tennis, are no more difficult than most of the higher-ranking Pros of the sport. It is easy to shut them out by luring them to one side of the court and having them miss the court. This is in stark contrast to how challenging Matt and Sakura are.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** The title theme and the menu theme are simply nostalgic.
** The music that plays after earning a medal in training mode is satisfying.
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Sakura, the champion of Baseball, is one of the most divisive of the [=CPU=] Miis. Fans of her think she's a fair challenge and has a good design, while detesters find her to be ThatOneBoss and dislike her for looking smug.
* EnsembleDarkHorse: Matt, the boxing champion, is easily the most popular [=CPU=] Mii and is perceived as a MemeticBadass. Even after ''VideoGame/NintendoSwitchSports'' switched to Sportsmate avatars as the main characters, online players posing as Matt with Mii avatars replicating his appearance can be found, and he was among the classic ''Wii Sports'' and ''Wii Sports Resort'' Miis patched in as secret opponents (in the case of Matt, he's the opponent for Chambara).
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments:
** In Tennis, anytime a Mii ends up diving clear across the court to hit a ball.
** There's a Tennis minigame to hit a target on a wall to test your swing control. Hitting the surrounding wall starts to break it down, resulting in the ridiculous scenario of busting a hole in a brick wall with a ''tennis ball''.
** In Bowling, if you ever end up accidentally (or purposefully) throwing the bowling ball backwards, the entire crowd will freak out, scream, and do a spinning jump. It's even funnier if you roll the ball slowly since they'll still have the same panicked reaction.
* GameBreaker: In Boxing, doing slow-motion swerves and then striking the opponent makes the harder opponents and Matt far easier to beat, since it will usually leave them open and do a good chunk of damage.
* HypeBacklash: At the height of its popularity, ''Wii Sports'' (along with ''VideoGame/WiiFit'' and ''VideoGame/JustDance'') caught some flak from the gaming community due to fears that it would start an entire AudienceShift for gaming towards [[LowestCommonDenominator general, casual audiences]] (with "soccer moms" and "senior citizens" being common buzzwords). However, this died down as this proved to not be the case.
* MemeticBadass: [[ThatOneBoss Matt]]. [[labelnote:Explanation]]One of the games' various [=CPU=] Miis, as well as the champion of Boxing, is Matt, a bald Black Mii with a beard, who has a habit of defeating his opponents very quickly. Reddit users [[http://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/452/274/efb.jpg later turned him into]] a MemeticBadass claiming that he is one of the 15 people who could defeat [[Film/AvengersInfinityWar Thanos]] even with the Gauntlet in seconds. When the version 3.0.0 update for ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'' added the ability to share created content online, Mii Fighter recreations of Matt became extremely common.[[/labelnote]]
* MemeticMutation:
** "NICE ON!" from Golf and the Strike graphic/sound effect from Bowling have seen some mild mutation in meme videos and YouTubePoop; the former often in a sarcastic sense (usually over {{Epic Fail}}s) and the latter over clips of things (or people!) being knocked down.
** The [=CPU=] Mii Matt was made into a meme due to being the Boxing champion (as well as the Swordplay champion in ''Resort'').
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scnFH-MldJM main theme]] of the first game has seen much use in memes starting from the late 2010s.
** Boxing Results lyrics [[labelnote:Explanation]]People sometimes make their own lyrics to the Boxing Results music, synced to the rhythm of the song. The comments section of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yVFe1Gcjeo this]] video is a good example.[[/labelnote]]
%%* MemeticLoser: Ryan is best known for being the first opponent in boxing.
* PeripheryDemographic: ''Wii Sports'' (particularly bowling) [[http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=120705467 became popular in senior citizen recreation centers and nursing homes]], as the Wii was small, portable, and much less able to hurt your foot if you dropped the "ball." In fact, the record-holder for the highest score in Bowling is in his '''90s''' (specifically being born in 1926, roughly eighty years before ''Wii Sports'' came out).
* ThatOneBoss: Sakura, the champion of Baseball, is often considered to be an annoyance. She often pitches slow-moving balls that are impossible to get a good swing out of, if they don't end up counting as Balls. She and her team are also able to get Home Runs easily. Beating her often requires waiting for her to sweat while pitching (resulting in her throwing shots for a home run) or using Splitter Ball shots (which her team will often bat at, resulting in Foul Balls).
